Chapter 31 - Bear With No Teeth

Yenma also stared right back at the lady. He wasn't the type to back down.

The two stared at each other intensely, unknowingly a staring contest between the two had already begun.

.

Su Yun was originally looking at the battles occurring on the stage but soon noticed a young man among the crowd who seemed to possess a mystical aura. She couldn't help but stare at him.

Soon she noticed the young man also staring right back at her, she wasn't the shy type of woman that would dart away her eyes. Without feeling embarrassed, she continued to stare right back at him. This 'fight' lasted for quite sometime.

Eventually the man gave up and walked away from the crowd.

.

'Hmph! ', Su Yun snorted and felt slightly happy as she had won the staring contest.

.

Yenma went back to his courtyard, and pondered about the fights that he had observed on the martial grounds especially those martial techniques and moves executed by the Situ family disciples.

Although Yenma was at Half-step Qi Formation Stage, he didn't know any martial techniques or movement techniques! So one could say he was like a bear with no teeth or a man with no trump cards.

But watching all those young juniors of the Situ family execute martial techniques enlightened Yenma on the magnificent ways Zu Qi could be harnessed.

Although Yenma still couldn't execute any martial techniques, he could at the very least improve upon his own basic set of moves.

As such in the lone and quiet courtyard, Yenma, In his white robes could be seen punching slowly and vigorously. Although he executed a simple punch, the underlying principles within each of his punches were profound.

After an hour of doing nothing other than punching, Yenma switched to using kicks. He focused on swiftness when it came to his lower body, and tried to ensure his kicks were swift and rhythmic.

Each person had their own opinions when it came to how the Zu Qi in the body should be wielded when in a battle. Yenma's opinion was simple: legs have to be swift and arms have to be strong.

Although he wasn't sure if this was the correct application of how one utilizes their body in battle, for Yenma, this was what he believed in.

After training himself for another few hours, exhaustion gradually kicked in and Yenma knew he had to let his body rest for a while to recover.

Since his robes were drenched in sweat, Yenma proceeded to get himself a nice warm bath to relax the strained muscles in his body.

By the time he was done with his bath, It was already night time and dinner was delivered to the courtyard. It was a sumptuous meal and Yenma found himself rejuvenated. Many valuable herbs were utilized in the cooking the food, from this one could estimate that the Situ Family left no stone unturned when it came to serving their guests.

.

As Yenma stood beside the window sill and peered out towards the distant moon, he felt an unusual sense of serenity as well as a sense of foreboding.

Tomorrow was going to be the day when the Situ Family Grand Feast would be held and Yenma would soon know what the 'announcement' the Situ Family wanted to make.

.

.

.

*Chirp* *Chirp*

Rustling of trees and chirping of birds sounded out as a lazy Yenma put on his clothes and decided to get dressed for the Feast.

*Knock* *Knock*

Yenma didn't turn back as he knew who was on the other side of the door, "Uncle Yepong, come in."

Yepong soon came in placed a set of neat white robes on Yenma's bed, "Today is a big day, and I don't want you to be dressed in your normal attire."

.

After curiously checking out the robes, Yenma noticed a beautiful embroidered swan flying through the skies on the back of the robes. This was the Tin family symbol and it represented freedom and prosperity.

Tin Yepong was dressed in a similar attire, and it seemed like these robes were meant for main family disciples.

.

The Feast was held in the Situ Family Main Hall and most of the guests were already assembled there at the moment. Laughter and joy emanated within the Hall as the guests discussed among themselves and got to know each other better.

There was still another hour or so before the beginning of the Feast, so the guests could only talk among themselves in the meantime.

Yenma stood by the corner of the Hall as he observed the lively atmosphere around, his Uncle Yepong had long ago ditched him as he tried to strike up a conversation with a charming middle-aged woman that he saw on the other side of the Hall among the crowd of guests.

The Situ Family members had noticed that almost all of the guests had already arrived in the Hall; not wanting to keep them empty handed, they ordered the servants to distribute glasses of fine wine to the guests.

.

A shadow approached towards Yenma as the latter stood by the corner of the Hall.

Yenma frowned as he looked at the person that had just approached him.
