In the cliff that cut the mountain in half, there were various spider webs attach from one side to another.

This cliff was the habitat of the Spider Eagle, a beast that nested in the depths of cliffs to prevent predators to eat their eggs. Because of difficulty to obtain their eggs, they were also called dream eggs.

When the other contestants saw Leise jump into the cliff they all started to run to see what happened. After all is not eve day that you see someone jump into a cliff with eggs and spider eggs.

Gon, Killua, Kurapika, and Leorio all jumped towards the cliff followed by many contestants while those that were scared stayed on land.

After that, some of the contestants didn't match their jump with the barrage of wind and died, burr most of them followed the least of Gon and due to his sharp senses, all managed to catch an egg and fly towards the mountaintop.
