Want To Be Powerful (4)

She picked up a book and poked Rothgarr in the chest, signaling for him to move back.

Rothgarr really did move.

Anna turned two pages of the book, and asked casually: “Then what kind of gifts and curses do the other demons have, do you know?”

She had seen Balan’s curse with her own eyes, but his gift was still unclear. As for Abel… no, it was Aosta, his curse was likely related to his appearance as Abel.

Rothgarr didn’t hold back either: “You’ve seen Balan’s curse. His gifted ability is chaos.”

“Chaos? What kind of ability is that?”

He sneered: “With your current strength, if he uses it on you, you will become demented.”

Anna was taken aback: “Is it permanent?”

“Just when he uses it.” Anna breathed a sigh of relief. That would be too scary otherwise. But what she really wanted to ask was not this, so she asked again: “What about the other three Grand Dukes of The Abyss?”

“Aosta, Grand Duke of Fueli, Arque, Grand Duke of Gerrit, and Bailey, Grand Duke of Slagold.” Rothgarr said, “I’m not sure about the last two. Aosta’s curse is that he will turn into a human and lose all his powers.”

Rothgarr guessed at first that Aosta would enter a period of weakness during the onset of the curse, but after listening to Anna’s description, he corrected his guess, thinking that Aosta would turn into a human being during the onset of the curse, so he could only hide in the Human Realm and wait for the curse to pass. The Human Realm had a massacre every one hundred years or so, and he believed that was Aosta’s doing. Aosta would go into a berserk state when he went from human to demon.

“Oh? Then how often does The Abyss curse strike?” Anna heard a complete description of Aosta’s The Abyss curse, and she couldn’t help but ask again.

“A hundred years or so.” Rothgarr replied casually. Apart from Balan, his own curses also struck from time to time, with a time interval of about a hundred years. Aosta’s curse was probably the same as his; there shouldn’t be too wide of an interval.

A hundred years… That was too long, she couldn’t wait at all.

Moreover, if Aosta turned into Abel again, it would be easy for her to kill him, but she probably couldn’t bear to do it.

Seeing that Rothgarr seemed doubtful, Anna quickly said, “The next time your The Abyss curse strikes again, I will help you watch and keep others from getting close to you.”

She just told Rothgarr that she wanted to have his power, not what she wanted to do with that power. She didn’t know if he had guessed it, and she hoped he hadn’t.

Avenging Natalie was her own business. She could improve her strength under his training, but she would directly use his strength to deal with Aosta.

Some things had to be done herself to have meaning.

The hidden meaning of Anna’s words made him feel at ease. Before Anna could figure out what he meant, he looked at her and smiled, “Okay.”

The next time the curse would strike was uncertain. If she wanted to do as she promised, she would have to stay by his side for at least a hundred years.

Anna was slightly taken aback; it was rare for her to see Rothgarr smiling so innocently and happily.

She quickly withdrew her gaze and stared at the page in her hand.

The next time was more than a hundred years later. She should still be here, right?

She took a deep breath, not thinking about the future so far away for the time being.

Seeing that Anna began to immerse herself in the book world again, Rothgarr only said, “Ask me anytime you have any questions.”

“Okay.” Anna replied.

Then she remembered Rothgarr when he possessed Ulysses and was her teacher in the past, where he’d ask menacing questions like, “Do you remember?!” That felt like it had happened in a previous life.

Now, did Rothgarr learn how to be a real teacher? Or, was this a privilege that belonged exclusively to her?

Anna had doubts in her heart. After reading the book, she really had questions to ask Rothgarr. After he answered seriously like a teacher, she felt relieved.

Sure enough, he had learned how to be a good teacher.

After reading another book, Anna was absolutely starving.

Except for a faint feeling, knowing that Rothgarr had indeed signed a soul contract with her, her body remained unchanged. And that kind of feeling was very mysterious; it was difficult for her to describe it in words. If she insisted on describing it, it was like she, who was originally lonely and helpless in this world, suddenly has an ungraspable connection. She felt like no matter if she went to the desert or an ice field, someone would always be with her. She couldn’t see or touch him, but she felt his presence.

And other things… such as the increase in lifespan, she would definitely not be able to feel it in such a short period of time. She still had the same metabolism as a normal human being, would still feel hungry, and would still need the bathroom.

When walking downstairs to the kitchen, Anna walked side by side with Rothgarr, and she suddenly asked, “What if you regret it? Will you kill me, or let me go?”

Anna’s question was vague, but Rothgarr knew what she was asking.

And the options she gave him made him very unhappy. Why would he kill her? And why would he let her go?

“I won’t regret it.” Rothgarr said coldly, looking ahead. He then turned his head to warn her, “Anna, you’d better not do something you regret.”
