Golden Agent of the Adonis (21)

Troubled by the sudden turn of events, Li Ou hired even more spammers to attempt to get the situation under control, albeit to no avail. At the same time, he immediately contracted the company and accused Chu Xiang of harming Chen Lifeng’s name. However, the head of the PR department had already contacted Chu Xiang. In response, she said that she had only finished her meal and was now being put on an IV. In the first place, how could a patient like her who was barely able to get up on her own two feet cause such a ruckus? Who could she have asked to take those photos? And most importantly, how could she have come up with that plan during such a short time? Besides, the company was more inclined to believe that the cause of this situation was but a mere coincidence. After all, everything started with people finding out that Chu Xiang was admitted to the hospital. Perhaps the people in the hospital who were aware of the situation went over to her ward out of curiosity and snapped a few pictures of them having a meal together.

Such a reason was not impossible and could very well have happened. Afraid that Chen Lifeng and Zhou Yuan’s fans might bombard the hospital to look for Chu Xiang, they even urged her to change to a different hospital or recover at home instead.

Unlike Li Ou, the company did not go out of its way to suspect Chu Xiang. In fact, they saw this as an opportunity to quickly resolve the situation and settle things with Chen Lifeng once and for all — not wanting to be seen as a laughingstock in the public’s eyes any longer.

Dissatisfied with the company’s decision, Chen Lifeng was put in a wretched mood. He did not expect the onlookers to suddenly support Chu Xiang, especially when there were no signs of them doing so before.

After discussing the situation with Zhou Yuan, he felt that the situation had already gone beyond their control. He was not sure whether it was a good or bad outcome, but it was probably better to let things calm down as soon as possible. Besides, they had retained a large portion o their fanbase and achieved their original goal.

With that, Chen Lifeng expressed his willingness to cooperate with Chu Xiang through the company. However, when Chu Xiang received the call from the company, she said in a weak voice, “I’m sorry, but could we talk about this later? I just went through the discharge procedures to go home, and I’m feeling a bit dizzy…”

“No worries, it’s still quite early. Do you have someone back home to take care of you? Should we call Xiao Lin over?”

“No need. Fang Zhenxuan will be assisting me. Since he’ll be assigned under me in the future, I’ll take the chance to get to know him better. Could you tell Xiao Lin to help me run things in the company for the time being? Thanks,” Chu Xiang thanked earnestly. Even though the company’s generosity with earned through her own hard work, it is genuine kindness nonetheless. Keeping that in mind, she vowed to return the favor in the future.

At this time, Chu Xiang had indeed gotten discharged from the hospital. Because of the leaked photos, she agreed to the company’s suggestions and headed home to recover instead. Besides, she still had a lot of things she needed to do. With so many eyes in the hospital, who knows what else could be leaked? If that happened, everything she had planned and done would become useless.

As for her feeling dizzy, that was simply a convenient excuse. While Chen Lifeng might now be willing to cooperate with her, she was not yet inclined to do so. Waiting for the right moment, she intended to let the fans curse her for a while longer, letting everyone see just how senseless Chen Lifeng and Zhou Yuan’s fans are being. Meanwhile, she wanted to find the perfect moment and leave a deep impression before making a comeback.

In the meantime, Fang Zhenxuan called for a taxi to send her home with Xinxin. However, he did not expect to live so close to Chu Xiang’s house — only separated about a kilometer away from a small neighborhood.

Surprised, Fang Zhenxuan said, “I expected you to live in an upper-class neighborhood.”

“Hmm? Ever since I started living here, I never once bothered to move out, especially since I was too far too busy with work. Speaking of which, I’ve already lived here for many years. Perhaps it’s about time I moved out. Besides, the higher-end neighborhoods will definitely have better security. I’ll have a look around once I’m fully recovered. When that time comes, why don’t you move in across my place with Xinxin? It’ll be more convenient.”

Fang Zhenxuan stared blankly at her for a moment before saying, “I don’t think I’ll be able to do that for the time being. After all, my savings will soon be used up. I’ll have to wait for my manager to get me into a few shows before that happens.”

Chu Xiang chuckled, “That won’t be a problem. I’ll gladly lend you some money. When you start working, you ought to provide Xinxin with the best environment and hire a nanny for her to feel at ease. I’ll be slowly deducting the money you borrowed from your salary. I’m sure you’ll be able to earn everything back soon.”

Hearing that, Fang Zhenxuan could not possibly decline as he replied, “Since my manager has such high hopes for me, I’ll have no choice but to accept your offer.”

“Enough with the manager thing. You can just call me Sister~ Anyways, let’s head on up. I’ll be making preparations to send out the next wave of materials. I have to provide some solid evidence to improve my image. After all, I can’t just let the people supporting me run out of gas.”

As soon as Chu Xiang turned on her phone, her notifications were filled with messages from her friends. It seemed that everything was now ready.

Come to think of it, the fans have vented their anger for far too long. Perhaps it’s about time to take a nudge at them. What could possibly be more demoralizing than finding out that everything you gave your utmost to fight for turned out to be fake? After putting in their all and enduring the criticism of the ones you believed to be in the wrong, how would they feel after being told that things were not what they thought to be?

As for the ones who outright cursed Chu Xiang without mercy, one could only wonder how they would feel after finding out they were in the wrong the whole time.
