Golden Agent of the Adonis (29)

Fang Zhenxuan handed her a glass of warm water and asked, “Is the matter over now? Should you rest early?”

Chu Xiang shook her head, “Not yet. After all, how could his fans give up so easily?”

Sure enough, within half an hour, several notable fans of Chen Lifeng called on his other fans to forward more Weibo posts, which contained photos of Chu Xiang getting along with other men on different occasions. There weren’t many, but there were some that showed her laughing and smiling with other men whilst remaining only a small distance from the opposite gender.

Among them, all the warming photos of her in the hospital with Fang Zhenxuan and Xinxin were also released, indicating that she might have had a child a long time ago. It was even speculated that she looked rather close with the newbie, Fang Zhenxuan.

She was clearly flirting with people all over and had mutual connections.

This wasn’t the point of ruining Chu Xiang’s name though, but things were about to take a turn as it shifted the focus once more. Among the passers-by, there were those who really liked Chu Xiang. Among them were skilled people that sourced similar photos of Chen Lifeng with other women, but they also found pictorial evidence of Zhou Yuan behaving as such with other men.

These group photos were all a bit ambiguous, all portraying the subjects talking, laughing or having physical contact. Weren’t all these applicable to flirting as well? Who wouldn’t think that way? If even Chu Xiang, who was an agent, had such prompting pictures, there definitely wouldn’t be a lack of information when it came to both Chen Lifeng and Zhou Yuan who were stars.

If it could be said that Chu Xiang was flirting with men everywhere based on her photos, then the photos of Chen Lifeng and Zhou Yuan could also imply one liked to flirt with women whereas the other enjoyed flirting with men. Since they were going to make up stories like that to defame someone’s reputation, they would fight fire with fire.

The situation had become a mess once again. The passers-by were fine since they were merely content watching the situation unfold. Moreover, Chu Xiang was a victim of this incident no matter how they tried to approach the situation. Hence, they occasionally spoke up for her as well. As the incident progressed, they gradually felt that backing Chu Xiang from the start was the right move.

The fans of Chen Lifeng and Zhou Yuan were getting more and more chaotic as they urgently needed an explanation, a truth. They were fighting among themselves and even the two fan bases were at war with each other. Needless to say, the CP fans of the couple were receiving the most backlash.

All the members in the company’s Public Relations Department were recalled to the company to deal with the emergency crisis. Chu Xiang denied that she was responsible for the trouble and everyone believed her based on her diligent performance thus far. Besides, how could someone who was still weak from being revived from the brink of death be the cause of an uproar like this? There was absolutely no way.

Now, everyone was even more disgusted with Chen Lifeng, who was now pinned as the cause of all their problems. If he just wanted to change agents, he could have just done so since it was nothing but a small, internal matter; what was the point of stirring things up to this extent? How wonderful, the trouble was now out of control from the company’s grasp, his image would inevitably be damaged and thus, the commercial value he harbored as an artist would also  inevitably be affected. This was the real crisis as it was more of a serious case than his recent relationship issue. He truly tried to steal a chicken but lost the grains(3)!

(T/N: The phrase refers to someone who wanted to steal a chicken but instead, lost the grains that they had. It implies the act of wanting to take advantage of another person’s misfortune, but end up causing trouble for themselves and experiencing the backlash)

Chen Lifeng was reprimanded by Manager Liang over the phone as he was now more aggrieved than anyone else. Chen Lifeng also could no longer get through to Chu Xiang no matter what method he tried. He couldn’t believe that Chu Xiang, who sobbed and intoxicated herself over him the day before, was this heartless the next day. For a moment, he felt that Chu Xiang didn’t love him at all and all this time, his self-satisfaction of stringing her along was nothing but his ego speaking.

This was initially a matter that could have propelled him to victory and was something that he could have taken advantage of. Now that he suddenly suffered such a big loss, he didn’t know how many followers he would lose and how many resources he no longer was able to access. He was very saddened, feeling as if a boulder had been pressed against his chest, but it was useless to say anything more at this point.

Now, he only hoped that the company could persuade Chu Xiang to cooperate with him and help him clarify that the two of them were just friends. This was a pitfall that he dug with his own hands, so even if he had to get rid of his pride and crawl on the floor to beg for forgiveness, he had to find a way to solve this issue.
