Golden Agent of the Adonis (44)

On this day, Chu Xiang basically just sat and talked. She wasn’t too tired as her body had recovered a little and she no longer needed someone to take care of her at night.

However, since Fang Zhenxuan was exposed to acting for the first time, she still brought him home and instructed him to practice the scene that he was going to shoot the next day. Fang Zhenxuan had not yet mastered the keys to acting, so his performance was very unstable. If he wanted to make sure that the crew had no objection in regards to his participation , he could only wing it on the spot and practice on his own in private.

Xinxin was sleeping in the bedroom while Chu Xiang and Fang Zhenxuan were practicing in the living room. There was a clip where the heroine Ruoyun was selected to enter the palace and she endured her grief to bid farewell to Zhou Yanjun. There, Zhou Yanjun also expressed his heartache but suppressed it, merely expressing his parting wishes for her.

Such a delicate performance was too difficult for newcomers. Fang Zhenxuan pondered for a while but couldn’t manage to get into the zone. The main reason was that he had never been in love before, so he really didn’t understand the pain of being in love with someone but was unable to be together.

Seeing this, Chu Xiang got up and said, “Now I am Ruoyun, the person you have liked for a long time, so follow along with the act.”

Chu Xiang walked out of the kitchen, just like how Ruoyun walked through the arch in the play. At first, Fang Zhenxuan kept thinking that he shouldn’t be forgetting his words and he should act well, but when he saw Chu Xiang raise her head with a gaze of sorrow, he forgot everything..

“Brother Zhou, I’m leaving today. I don’t know when I can see you again.  Would you…” Chu Xiang bit her lip and stopped herself, nearly blurting out her inner thoughts. She wanted to ask Brother Zhou if he would miss her in the future, but she couldn’t.

Fang Zhenxuan was touched by the sadness in her eyes. Unconsciously, he took half a step forward. Thinking that she was about to become an Imperial Consort, he stopped abruptly, lowered his eyes and turned sideways respectfully, “The palace is not as forgiving as the outside world; you can’t speak freely and play around wantonly anymore. I hope… that you always be careful.”

He knew that they shouldn’t meet in private and they should just nod and leave when they saw each other, but he was reluctant to leave. In the end, he couldn’t stop himself from telling her that he was worried about her.

There was no one around them, so Chu Xiang looked at his side profile a little presumptuously, as if she had wanted to look at him like that for a lifetime. Fang Zhenxuan’s hand that held the script tightened subconsciously, as if he was restraining something.

The two of them didn’t speak, but they seemed to have heard each other and understood the myriad of words that were left unspoken. Everything around them were only decorations, further accentuating the two subjects’ moment.

Crystal tears flashed in Chu Xiang’s eyes before she forced herself to curl the corners of her lips. She smiled and said in her usual, cheerful tone,”Brother Zhou, take care of yourself!”

Fang Zhenxuan gritted his teeth. Looking down, he dropped the hand that held the script to his side and almost broke the script from his excessive crumpling, hidden from Chu Xiang’s line of sight. However, he only gave a gentle hum as a response and replied, “Do take precaution as well.”

Chu Xiang stared at his face closely, engraved his current appearance on her heart as she strode forward with all her strength. With one final turn, she left.

Fang Zhenxuan finally looked up at her, but only saw a tear being shed when she turned around. His eyes turned red instantly, greedily looking at Chu Xiang’s back until she disappeared.

When Chu Xiang came out of the kitchen, Fang Zhenxuan hadn’t got out of character. He had fisted the script in his hand to the point where the words were practically not legible at this time.

Chu Xiang understood his state as she walked up to him and smiled. She said, “That’s it, do you remember this feeling?”

Fang Zhenxuan came back to his senses and stared at her in a daze. Thus far, he only knew that Chu Xiang was exceptional at guiding others, so it wasn’t until he tried acting with her that he realized she was equally as phenomenal at playing the part as well. In fact, he didn’t need to memorize his lines at all— he was in the scene the moment he saw Chu Xiang. It was as if he became Zhou Yanjun and Chu Xiang was the lover that he wasn’t fated to be with.

Fang Zhenxuan sat on the sofa and exhaled. Rubbing his red eyes, he asked, “Sister Agent, are you really just an agent? Is there anything that you’re not good at?”

Chu Xiang leaned against the table and thought about it seriously, “The job of being an agent…is probably the thing that I’m least good at.”

Fang Zhenxuan was immediately amused, “Brag all you want, I haven’t encountered someone as narcissistic as you though. If your colleagues were to know about this side of you, I wouldn’t be surprised if they were to start beating you up.”

Chu Xiang glanced at him with a smile. Honestly, why wouldn’t others believe her when she was telling the truth?
