Rise Of House Cason

Chapter 89 - After Effects

Artland made his way to the medical tent to be inspected by Madam Pomfrey while Harry faced his dragon. Madam Pomfrey was beside herself while she quickly inspected Art for injuries.

"Dragons! Absolutely ridiculous!" she spat as she finished inspecting Art.

"I'm fine Professor Pomfrey. Not a scratch." Art said with a smile, softened by her concern.

"Dragons Artland! Dragons! Are they trying to kill you!?" she continued on.

Art let her vent as the crowd was now cheering onto Harry and by the sound of it he was doing great. Fleur walked over to Art and gently took his hand. Looking her over, Art noticed that her robes were slightly burnt.

"Are you okay?" he asked, looking her over for any burns.

"I'm fine. Just a stray flame caught my robes on fire." she said with a smile, touched by his concern.

Art nodded and waited for Harry to finish. Soon Harry joined them in the tent with a little scr.a.p.e on his shoulder. Pomfrey quickly healed that and continued her grumblings.

"Good job Harry." Art said with a smile, patting Harry's shoulder.

Harry smiled at him and nodded, "Always keep a calm head, right?"

"Right."

Soon Bagman entered the tent with an excited look on his face. "Very good! All of you! Now you have a long break until the next task, February 24th. But you see the hinges on the eggs? They unlock and you have to solve the riddle inside for clues to the next task."

Art looked down at his egg and studied it carefully. 'It can't be as easy as that.'

The champions were dismissed, Art and Fleur separated as Madame Maxime took her to their carriage.

Fleur looked at Madame Maxime's frowning face and let out a light laugh. "Do you think I have a chance now?"

Madame MAxime didn't say anything for a long time, "The boy is too powerful. Does he practice dark magic?"

Fleur didn't get upset about the acquisition as she knew lots of people would come to that conclusion.

"I've known him for many years and he has never changed. He doesn't practice in the Dark Arts but simply practices everyday. He is a genius that is never happy with his accomplishments. You should know his background and what happened to him." Fleur said calmly.

Madame Maxime nodded, everyone knew what had happened to the Cason's during the last war and how Artland survived and watched his family killed.

"He wants revenge. Pure cold blooded revenge on those who did it." Fleur said with a touch of sadness.

Madame Maxime's eyes narrowed, "That is dangerous Fleur鈥?he is dangerous."

Fleur nodded her head to Maxime's surprise. "He is鈥?#34; a brilliant smile appeared on her stunning face, "but he is a good person who loves his family and me. I couldn't ask for a better partner."

Madame Maxime shook her head and didn't say anymore, knowing it would be pointless.

Sitting in a secluded part of the stadium, the old couple stared down silently at the empty stadium, the roars of the dragons could still be heard.

"Complete awakening鈥?#34; the old man muttered, his pale eyes had a shine to them.

"Not only that, his magic is outstanding." the woman added.

"The fact that he was able to talk Daisy down and convince her that one of her eggs were fake is incredible let alone that he was able to overpower her with his magic." the man said.

"Is this the fabled power of the Cason bloodline? I heard rumors about it but never believed it."

"Two ancient bloodlines are in that boy, it is no wonder that he is powerful."

The woman frowned at the man, a little upset that he accompanied the boy's strength to only his bloodline.

"Scamander said the boy trains like crazy." she insisted.

The man nodded his head absently, clearly not listening to what the woman had said, his eyes burned with d.e.s.i.r.e as he watched Artland as he walked towards the castle.

Art and Harry both headed to the Gryffindor common room where a huge party was being held. The twins had stolen some food and butterbeer from the kitchens and were passing them around. People kept coming up to Art and said that his performance was amazing.

Art thanked them and calmly sipped his butterbeer. He looked over at Harry who was still holding onto his egg tightly as he socialized with everyone.

"What a show Arty." Fred walked up and sat next to him, his robes a little disheveled.

Art looked over and saw Angela also with disheveled robes and shook his head with a smile.

"It was a little flashy. Chains and all. Did you have to release the dragon just to prove a point?" George joined them, his butterbeer spilling onto the carpet.

"Dragons are fiercely protective of their eggs. It wasn't my right to enter her nest." Art explained, wiping some of George's butterbeer from his robes.

"Yeah yeah we know. Mr. Save All The Animals." George said in a mocking voice.

Art smiled bitterly before punching George's shoulder.

"Hahaha! That should teach you." Fred laughed, taking p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e in his twin's pain.

"So do you have any idea what the next challenge is?" George asked, rubbing his arm.

"From what I gathered from Bagman, it should be under the lake. Retrieving something and bringing it back. Shouldn't be that difficult as I frequently visit the merpeople." Art said quietly.

Fred and George looked at him weird.

"What?"

"You are a cheat."

"Such a cheat."

Art laughed and agreed with them. He had already placed his egg under his bed in his dorm, unlike Harry who was still carrying it around.

After a few more drinks, Artland called it a night and headed off to bed.

The next morning a strange atmosphere covered the Great Hall as Art walked in. People from all schools and tables were giving him glances and muttering to themselves, even the teachers.

Art frowned but didn't say anything as he sat down at his table. George handed him the paper which had a picture of him and the dragon he faced.

ARTLAND CASON- THE NEXT DUMBLEDORE?

Art scoffed at the title and continued to read the article.

Artland Cason is a name the majority of you probably know by now as he is the sole heir to the Cason family and a Hogwarts Champion of the Triwizard tournament. But after his first task, which was to face a dragon, many now realize how talented he is.

'The boy simply overpowered the dragon like it was nothing. I know maybe five a.d.u.l.t wizards that can do that.' A spectator of the first task had to say.

Many were stunned at Cason's performance during the task.

'The boy is simply a freak.' one said.

But is he too strong for his age? Has he dabbled in some forbidden magic that has granted him this strength?

Art stopped reading and crumbled the paper, not bothering himself with it anymore.

Forbidden magic? Dark Arts? How stupid.

Fred and George let out a chuckle at their friends actions but didn't say anything.

While leaving the Great Hall, a shy first year came up to Art and passed him a note.

"I have to go see Dumbledore." Art told the twins.

Art made his way to the Headmaster's tower and patiently stood at the gargoyle. Soon the gargoyle sprang to life and moved out of the way for Art.

Entering the room, he was surprised to see Bagman, Madame Maxime and Karkaroff. Dumbledore stood behind his desk with a weary expression on his face. Newt was also there with an older couple standing next to him.

"Art my boy. Thank you for coming." Dumbledore said with a smile.

Art simply nodded his head and looked at the other Headmasters who glared at him openly. A mocking grin came over his face, easily figuring out what was going on.

"Figure out a way to remove me from the tournament yet?" he asked, his voice dripping with sarcasm and ridicule.

Karkaroff looked like he was about to explode and pointed his long finger at Art, shaking in fury.

"A bastard like you shouldn't be allowed in the tournament when you are using Dark Arts! He should be expelled!" he yelled, directing that last part to Bagman and Crouch.

"Like you can talk to me about Dark Arts, Death Eater." Art spat back, his voice carrying an edge to it.

Karkaroff went pale and looked like he was about to attack Artland.

"Enough. Artland鈥?#34; Dumbledore started to say when he was cut off.

Art took out his wand and pointed it at his heart. "I Artland Cason of the Cason House, have never tried nor used any form of Dark Magic including the three Unforgivable Curses."

Everyone was shocked at what Art did but now had no reason to doubt him now as he just performed a Magical Oath that would kill him if he was lying.

Dumbledore beamed brightly and looked at everyone in the room. "Is this enough for everyone?"

The Headmasters looked at me warily and nodded.

"How are you so powerful, if I may ask?" Madame Maxime asked in french, causing the others to frown.

"Hardwork madam. Though I did cheat a bit. I was able to practice during the summer thanks to Mr. Scamander." Art replied, pushing the focus on Newt.

Madame Maxime nodded and glanced at Newt before her hulking figure walked out of the office. Karkaroff and the other soon followed but not before a glare was sent his way.

Art simply gave him a deadly smile as if saying, 'Anytime, any place.'
