Rise Of The Spatial Dragon

Chapter 52 - The Wrath of Kedan (1)

"WHAT?" Tsapo roared. He and a few of his friends were enjoying watching the match that was unfolding before then, and each of them had massive hard-ons.

On the stage, there were 2 human females. They were both stark n.a.k.e.d and they were fighting. After the raid, Tsapo had gained a liking of the humans, especially after seeing them up close and personal. Their fighting spirit was almost inspirational.

After capturing a very large number, he was at a loss on what to do with them. Most were to be sold off as slaves, but at the moment they were all in dungeons. He was running out of place to put all these prisoners.

He never really had much beef with the humans, but they had crossed the line. He had to quell this rebellion before it grew too much. It might be nothing more than a nuisance now, but if he allowed it go unchecked and unpunished, then it might well end up growing to be a big problem.

Moreover, he was grieving, and he wanted to avenge his friend. Admittedly, he had gone overboard, so much so that even his men were wary of him. He had been a killing machine on the battlefield.

Truthfully, he had wanted to face off with the man that had killed his friend. That insolent human that had dared shoot that arrow had to pay for his sins. To his utter shock, the fool had jumped in the lake to take the goddamned quest. What a half-wit? Did he think that because he was strong and had some ability he was invincible?

It was sad that he didn't get to rip apart his enemy himself. How he wished he could get his hands of the man that had killed his good friend Gnome, but alas, all he had now was the humans that his enemy had been with.

As a wolfkin with a topnotch bloodline, he had 2 distinct power skills. The first was a Passive skill called Fortification. Passive skills were those that were always on, automatically without the need for control of the user. Think of it like breathing, you don't actively control it, but it is a function of the body that continually runs.

Fortification Skill was a skill that was exhibited by a variety of bloodlines and ability. Even Hasilo had it. In a nutshell, the individual had unbreakable skin and a powerful body. The skin itself offered protection around the user blocking attacks. They could even hold the force and absorb the shock to a degree. The strength of the body was also amplified to a superhuman degree such that a casual punch could blow a hole in a wall.

His secondary power was even more splendid. As his bloodline was that of a frost wolf, he had control over the ice element. This was not to be confused with the water element. The frost element was considered as a subset of the water element which merged with a subset of the thunder element. This kind of combined skill was known as a Mutated ability.

Some idiot guard had just walked in on him and his pals having a wild time. He was known to be one who enjoyed his time with his friends, and they could have a wild time together. As such it was a good idea not to interrupt them unless there was a good reason.

"Sir, the West wall is under attack!" Well, that was a good reason.

Tsapo rose up and looked over the window from his castle. From his castle, he could see all the city-state. It was the highest point in the entire city. It was built on a hill that rose from the ocean, causing quite some overflow of relief rainfall. Either way, he had quite a good view, he saw the west wall. He could see the fire burning in some part, and soldiers were milling around.

That's when he saw it. As he looked, five soldiers dropped dead and were flung off the wall. Horrified, he watched as the arrow actually peel itself away from the bodies and fly back to its origin. Hard as he tried, he peeled his eyes as hard as he could to see where the arrows were coming from, but try as he could, he couldn't see the origin. Just how far was this bastard.

Instead of being angry, Tsapo was excited. Damn! The man had shown up. Tsapo thought he'd missed his chance to get that damn bastard. Now his blood was running wild. He had a shot at the bastard once more, and the idiot had just brought himself back to his clutches. Time to show him just what a mistake that was.

In the dungeons down below, all had been quiet for quite some time. Joyce was still lost in her thoughts and the bitter loss that stung her when the commotion arose. Suddenly, the guards were moving all over the place.

One of the hostages overheard the guards talking. Someone was attacking the west wall, and get this, they were able to summon the arrows back.

"Kedan!" Kayla, of course, was the first to recognize that signature move. It had been like his MO. However, this time she only verbalized what everyone was thinking. It had to be him, without a doubt, but the question was, what did that mean.

The last anyone saw him, he had just dove into a lake where the Quest took place. It couldn't be possible that he held his breath all that time. They had waited for quite sometime before the attack began, and if he was willing to attack the army now, then he had plenty of opportunities to join them when it mattered.

It could only mean one thing. He had completed the Quest. While this thought permeated many of the humans in that dungeon, few dared to believe it. There had been cases where people got out even though they lost. It hadn't happened in their generation but it wasn't truly unheard of. They expected that he had some mental damage, and willfully attacking a city-state all by one's self seemed like pretty good evidence.

While the pride of Joyce had always been her strength, it was also the source of most of her issues. She grudgingly admitted that one of the main reasons she never liked the whole Quest of Keeling thing was because she hated relying on some stranger. She still did, but at that moment, her pride had gone to the dogs. She had given her all and still lost, hopelessly at that, if someone could help, she would welcome the help with open arms.

Kayla was among those that dared to believe. Unlike most, she had seen Kedan in action. She had faced certain death, been left behind for death, yet this man somehow always seemed to come through. He was her guardian who was seemingly always around to protect her. She felt a deep sense of safety and security while he was around, and now hearing he was coming, hope was rekindled in her heart.

As Kedan flew on, he could feel his mount tiring. These beasts only sat around the trees and ate. One of the drawbacks of taking a wild mount. He willed it to get him as close as it could, but he realized he couldn't expect it to aid him in capturing the city in this state. He directed it to rest up, as he did recon on the area.

The walls of the city were massive, rising to 10 meters tall. Atop the wall, he could see soldiers moving, and even the towers he'd cleared out were now re-occupied. Closing his eyes, he used Gravitational sense and extended his senses until they covered the entire city. He could feel the army congregating at an area right out of the western wall gate.

Similarly, he was able to tell where the humans were being held. At that moment, he sighed in relief and some of his rage dissipated. At least some were alive.

Finally, he could feel the heavy armament that was set to destroy him. More than 20 wolf packs were being assembled. Massive war machines were being erected on the walls as though they were going to face off a great invading army. Looking at all the preparations, Kedan smiled.

"Hey Tsapo, thanks for the warm welcome," he shouted as he walked out of the treeline, "but it's nowhere near enough!"

From his position on the wall, Tsapo had been ordering his men around when that sound rose from down below. Looking down, he saw the lone figure walking out the treeline. At that point, even he didn't know what to feel.

He had mobilized a lot of manpower. He had even stationed wolf packs at the ready, to hunt down this offending fool. To have done that yet the idiot just walked out and called out to him. His face turned green with shame. What would his peers think of him, to have mobilized just an army for one stupid fool?

"I heard you can catch arrows, let's see how many you can hold!" He retorted with a sneer. He then raised his hand and gave the signal, which was relayed to the archers. Suddenly, a thousand bows let loose arrows. The scene was so spectacular as the arrows moved in unison, like a dark rain. They went up the wall and started raining down on Kedan, cutting off any escape route.

Tsapo almost looked away in disgust. What a poor fool. He thought that since he had awaked some ability he was invincible, untouchable? How idiotic does one have to be to face an army in their fortified city? He couldn't wrap his head around that, and the sneer on his face deepened.

However, the sneer quickly transformed into shock as the wave of arrows changed direction. It was as though they had achieved a form of self-awareness, and were following some set of commands.

Like a tide in an ocean, the arrows changed direction from targeting Kedan, taking an arch through the air, going back over the wall and started raining on the wolf packs.

While the poor wolves were gigantic and ferocious, capable and responsible for mauling countless humans, at that moment they looked like poor puppies being pelted by mean kids. One could almost pity them.

The sight of more than half the wolf packs gathered being put down so easily caused the rest to run for dear life. As they did, they didn't consider who was friend or foe, and since the wolves were at the frontline, they trampled their way across the army.

This was quite a blow to the army, and it took the commanders quite some time to organize the forces once more. All this time, Kedan, who hadn't moved, was giggling. Sounds of him trying and failing to suppress laughter could be heard, then he suddenly erupted into a burst of maniacal laughter.

"Haven't you people ever heard of military discipline?" Kedan asked, amidst peals of laughter.

You can imagine how pissed off the people on the walls were. They felt like they could jump off that wall and give him a thorough spanking. They understood however that they were facing a monster that was capable of overturning a battlefield in one move.

"Is that all you got?" Kedan asked, further taunting the wolfkins.

"Ballistas, Make aim!" Tsapo said, "I refuse to believe one man can catch a volley of arrows!"

A betting man, Tsapo was. He wanted to test the limits of his opponent, see how much power he had. To him, all this was a big game, and he would be taking down a prize tonight. Now was his chance to probe him, see how powerful he was.

The Ballistas on the walls were capable of spitting out 2 meter long bolts at neck break speeds. They were also silent as they went off, meaning that his opponent would be dead before he knew what happened. Such a shame.

Once the targeting was done, a silent signal was given, and 50 massive Ballistas unleashed their bolts at a solitary figure on the ground. As Tsapo looked on, he didn't have a sneer on this time, as his opponent had proven worthy of respect.

"You think this is enough to handle me? You are 100 years too early. So, here, have a taste of your own medicine." Kedan was putting on a show. All this was just fun and games, and he needed to teach these wolfkins a lesson and to vent his anger.

As he was speaking, the bolts had changed trajectory again and were now flying up in a curve, before suddenly descending. Tsapo, who was now stunned, found an arrow bearing down at him at undodgeable speeds.
