Road To The Throne

Chapter 9 - First meeting #2

Ryo and the group of tiny goblins arrived in their village in only a few minutes. The goblins of course were not that short, it was just that when compared to someone like Ryo who had a massive body, they looked super tiny.

Some goblins almost reached the height of a normal human. The village itself was incredibly simply made. There were not a single building made of stone, or even wood. Ryo was following behind the group, being led to a almost tent like hut in the middle of the village. It was larger then the rest, so Ryo figured it to be the village chiefs house.

The group arrived outside the hut and Ryo saw an old goblin walk out in front of the group. The goblin held onto a cane with both his hands, but he still looked like he would fall down at any moment.

"Old man, we brought someone to help us against the wolf pack." The leading goblin in the group spoke with familiarity. Being called and old man might seem disrespectful, but the chief didn't seen to mind it at all.

"oh yes, i can feel great power radiating of your body, Sire. I greatly appreciate your help during our troubling times sire." The chief spoke respectfully to Ryo, but an air of seniority still existed around him as he spoke.

"No problem. I was also looking for people and you seem like honest folks. Not a bad first meeting." Ryo spoke casually, trying to get them to relax enough to drop the honorifics.

"By the way, what's your name old chief? My name is Ryo." Ryo had a feeling it would be good to set up some connection in this world, for any future events he might come across.

"I have no name sire. Most of us don't have names yet. It's very rare to come across named goblins around here sire." The chief had a little sadness in his voice. Ryo though that maybe something tragic happened since his tone of voice changed so abruptly.

"most of you? so is there someone here that has a name?" Ryo didn't know much about the naming process. The things he knew about names was just that they are something very precious to monsters in this world.

"I had a son that has now passed away. He was named about 10 years ago by a mighty being that took a liking to him. He was given the name Rigur and served as the guardian of our village for a long time. He was a strong and proud fighter, he protected against the dire wolfs. But he died in the process." Even more sadness leaked out form the chief. Ryo started feeling uncomfortable about the situation and decided to change the subject.

"Anyways, let's see about these wolfs. When do they usually attack here? The faster they come the quicker i can be on my way again." Ryo spoke with confidence and spread a little of his aura to show his power off to the goblins.

"y-yes, yes of course sire. I am sorry for bringing down your mood. The wolf pack usually attack us during the night and we simply have no way to stop them with brute force alone." The sadness quickly disappeared from the old chief.

"Well, let's go inside and wait for their arrival." Ryo was getting excited to see what the monsters on the surface had to offer.

"Yes, please walk this way and i will lead you to the house you can stay at." A smile appeared on the old chiefs face as he lead Ryo to a hut that he could use for the moment.

----Hours later----

Ryo was sitting inside the hut that the chief had provided him. He suddenly opened his eyes and stared out towards the south. He walked out from the hut and called for the chief. His voice echoed inside the village, even though he used a normal talking tone.

"My lord! What is it you need from me?" The chief came running at full speed. He looked like he would fall down and die at any moment.

"They are close, in a few minutes they will be here. Gather all the villagers, make sure no one is missing." Ryo spoke with a slightly more serious tone then usual.

"O-of course Sire!" The old chief went to make sure all goblins were counted for.

Ryo saw the old chief ordering the goblins around and then he went to meet the pack of wolfs currently sprinting towards the village. He came to a stop a few meters outside the south border of the village. Here is where the wolfs were going to appear. Ever since he arrived he had his energy spreading around the village to make sure the wolfs could not get off a surprise attack.

Ryo stood straight up like a drill Sergeant waiting for the wolfs to cross his path. He did not have to wait much longer as his senses now picked up the sound of the wolfs running in his direction. Soon multiple shadows came flying towards Ryo with inhuman speed. Ryo released a tiny bit of his aura making the shadows stop in their tracks.

The big wolf in the front stopped speeding and looked warily on Ryo because of that powerful aura spreading from his body.

"This is your stop, little puppies. This village doesn't want you around, so either you leave or i make you."Ryo spoke with a confident voice making some of the wolfs lower their heads out of fright. The leader wolfs instantly flared up in rage because of the tone Ryo spoke to him.

"Arrogant lowly human, step out of the way or you will regret this." The biggest leading wolf spoke in a low threatening growl.

"Human? are you dogs so weak you can't even tell difference between me and a human!?" Ryo spoke with utter spite in his voice. The goblins recognized that he wasn't human by his but these wolfs can't tell.

"Quite human! This is your last warning. Get out of the way or die." The big wolf prepared to launch an attack on Ryo any second.

"Since you won't listen, come and accept your death like a good little dog." Ryo made a taunting motion with his hand. The big wolf could not handle the provocation and attacked Ryo in a sprint.

"NOW YOU DIE HUMAN" The wolf ran towards Ryo at full speed.

*sigh*

"What a strange dog you are!? Running into the jaws of a dragon." Ryo watched as the big dire wolf ran towards him. It jumped when it arrived half way to Ryo attempt to bite his head off.

Ryo raised his right hand in front of him and simply caught the wolf flying towards him. He held the wolfs jaw in his hand suspending it in mid air without the ability to move at all.

*sigh* *sigh*

"You should have analyzed your opponent before trying to bite their head off." Ryo spoke in a slow and casual tone as he still held the wold by it's jaw. Slowly but surely, he increased the pressure until the wolfs started to w.h.i.n.e loudly.

The wolf pack stood in the back hesitating about whether to attack or run away. They always followed the strongest, but at the moment the strongest wolf was suspended in mid air by it's jaw with a single hand.

"fighting opponents like you is so boring, you know. Time to end this right here and now." Ryo increased the pressure on the wolfs jaw and the wolfs head exploded into hundreds of fleshy pieces.

Ryo made a barrier by using energy manipulation to not get blood on himself. He looked at the carcass on the ground then turned his eyes to the wolfs at the back.

"So, you guys wanna come here or am i gonna have to come to you?!" Ryo gave the other wolfs a small confident smile. The wolfs kept staring at Ryo without moving a muscle. When Ryo was about to move towards them. The now leading wolf bent his head down as low as it could and spoke like you would to a king.

"My lord, we follow only the strongest. Now that my father is dead, you are the strongest. Please accept out alliegence." The wolf in the front spoke respectfully from his bent down poisition.

"You switched your loyalty rather quickly, don't you wish to avenge your leaders death?" Ryo questioned the wolfs. He wasn't worried about them turning on him, if they started following him as subordinates. According to the system analysis, very few beings in this world could fight him on equal ground now.

"You proved to be a stronger fighter, and i believe you are a leader more worthy to follow them my father was." The leading wolf spoke like the previous leader was already forgotten by the pack.

"well, i guess i will give you guys the benefit of the doubt. But remember that if you try to betray me i will end your entire pack." Ryo released quite a bit of his aura, and the wolfs crashed to the ground because they couldn't withstand the intensity of his aura.

"W-we understand my king! You have our loyalty. Please release y-your aura." The leading wolf spoke with a little struggle because of the intense aura pressing his body down.

After he spoke the aura disappeared like it never had been there in the first place. And Ryo spoke with a smile on his face.

"Right, i guess in time we will see if you are loyal or not. Let us leave here and get back to the village." Ryo finally understood that in this world strength is the only way to gain loyalty. If he was only slightly stronger then the previous wolf leader, he was sure that the rest would not have chosen to follow him like this.
