Robot For A Boyfriend

Chapter 46 - Is That a Threat?

Emily looks in both awe and fear at both the mechs, mainly the sword wielder. He had the same last name as her, but she's never seen him before. It could just be coincidence, but as she looks over to Mr. Jameson, who is currently looking down at a small piece of notebook paper and cursing under his breath, she realizes it's something more. It is no coincidence. That's her older brother.

"I'm sorry, but is that a threat?" Splitter says, now closing the c.h.e.s.t of the mech and pulling out his machine gun, revving it up. "It's not a threat buckaroo. It's a promise." Jack replies, pointing the katana at Splitter, spinning it in his fingers as if it were a pencil. "Well, come at me then." Splitter says, now revving the engine more, the gun ready to expel bullets from the many chambers. Jack now aims his sword to his side, running toward Splitter at an amazing speed for a large chunk of metal. Bullets start spewing out of Splitter's machine gun, making Jack strafe from side to side, occasionally cutting and blocking bullets that camw close to the mech with his sword. Jack, now a yard away, aims his sword for the killing blow, the c.h.e.s.t of the mech. Splitter, thinking quickly, ducks his mech low and stabs the mech in the stomach, located a few feet below the pilot's c.o.c.kpit, and lifts Jack's mech into the air, it's arms flailing, trying to hit Splitter.

"Welp, so long you Union piece of -" As Splitter is speaking, he presses a button on the gun, activating a concussive blast shoot out Jack and his mech into the forest, the sword landing right in front of Emily and The Revenant, crushing the cars in front of them. Thinking quickly, Mr. Jameson had jumped on top of Emily, his large body blocking all debris from reaching her. Splitter moves toward them, picking up the sword and opening the c.h.e.s.t, jumping down and landing next to Mr. Jameson and Emily. "Sir, threat neutralized." He says, grabbing on to The Revenant's cape, pulling him off of Emily. Emily now gets up, brushing the dust off herself, and then ponders about all that has just happened.

A few minutes later, Mr. Jameson puts his hand on her shoulder. "Emily, I suggest you hurry. By my calculations, he only has a few minutes left in this existence." He says, giving her a slight pull in the direction of the hospital. "Splitter, while we do this, call the cleanup crew." Mr. Jameson says to Splitter before walking with Emily toward the front doors. Emily's gaze is still affixed on the area where Jack landed, seeing no movement. She sheds a silent tear before turning toward the doors of the hospital as they enter, Emily hardly prepared to say her goodbyes.

After talking to the receptionist, Emily and The Revenant walk to the elevators, going to the 13th floor, and entering room S-17. A slow beeping can be heard from the EKG as they walk past the door frame. Mr. Jameson pulls back a curtain to reveal Emily's father, Nikolas Tesla, lying in the hospital bed, looking very pale, well, paler than usual. "Nikolas, as requested, your daughter." Mr. Jameson says, making way for Emily, who walks past him and immediately hugs her father. "Dad! I love you, I love you so much!" Emily says, crying over her father's c.h.e.s.t. The EKG beeping starts to slow down, Nikolas looking up at his daughter, putting his hand on her cheek, and with his final breath tells her: "I know."
