Ruler Of Iron And Flesh

Chapter 29 - Gaining Mirage

Inian decided to follow the monster. 'I can't leave him injured like that.' He thought to himself.

He was flying in the sky, sensing for its presence when he finally found it. Surrounding it was a pack of 30 mid-tier monsters that were similar bears.

They all had glowing red eyes and were snarling at the high-tier monster. Usually, these creatures wouldn't be a threat, but after the duel with Inian, it was left injured, and it didn't have the strength to fight off all 30 mid-tier monsters.

Inian saw the mid-tier monsters close in, so he dived downwards and landed in front of the high tier monster. "Go elsewhere," He commanded in a loud voice, and all the bear-like beasts bowed and walked away.

He turned around to see the wounded monster bowing as well, "why did you follow me my liege?"

Inian looked at the ground in embarrassment, "I couldn't stand to see you leave after I'm the one who injured you. So I'm going to make sure that you heal up before I leave you. I'm not taking no for an answer."

The monster bowed again. Inian asked, "What's your name?"

The monster replied, "I am Tecale sire."

"Well, Tecale, I will ask you again. Are there any mid-tier monsters with the ability to heal others?"

Tecale nodded, "those bears you just told to go away, have the ability to self-heal and heal others."

"Perfect!" Inian called out and quickly went to the retreating bears. He scratched a bear and watched it heal itself. He then went back to Tecale and began treating him.

It didn't take long to heal Tecale, a minute and he was back to full strength. "Thank you, your majesty," Tecale said.

"No problem."

Inian let his body relax as he sat on the ground. Inian smiled; he was happy that he could catch Tecale in time before he went too far away.

"Hey Tecale," Inian began, and Tecale looked towards him, "how can I use your mirage ability? I tried using it in the fight with you, but I couldn't. It's not like any other abilities I've gained."

Tecale nodded its head in agreeance, "I'm afraid I don't know much, but what I've heard is that you can use any ability, your majesty. But from the high-tier level on, you need to focus on each ability more because each ability is a higher understanding. It's different from the mid-tier ones which are lower innate abilities."

Inian rubbed his chin, "I see. So I can use your ability as long as I understand it better?"

"Yes."

Inian smiled, "alright then, I'm going to give it a shot. Stay here and protect me while I'm focusing...please," Inian added at the end.

The monster bowed, and Inian crossed his legs. He closed his eyes and began focusing on the 'mirage' ability.

Last time he focused on the lightning and how he could feel the energy in the air. He understood how it came into being and began to know everything about it.

This time, he focused on illusion. He thought about how something was there, but also not there, how he could trick someone's or something's mind into believing what wasn't real.

His body felt light and hidden. Like he was blending into the background while also being visible.

Suddenly, several other Inians came into being, all sitting with their legs crossed just like him.

Tecale gasped in shock. This growing speed was unnatural!! Even for the king!

Inian's eyes opened, and he saw the illusions he created of himself. 'Nice!' He thought to himself.

He stood up and had the illusions follow suit; then he made them disappear.

"My liege, how did you do that?" Tecale asked. Inian looked confused, "what do you mean? I just did what I did last time, and that was focusing on what the power is.

Tecale shook its head, "that was incredible, to say the least. Even if you are the king, that was a brilliant sight to witness."

Suddenly, a roar echoed across the land that Marc and Tecale were upon. "Oh, no..." Tecale muttered, "we must move your majesty quickly! There's a Titan level monster that rules this area. It would be dangerous for even you to encounter."

Inian could feel the beast's menace through its roar and quickly agreed. He then used his new mirage ability to blend into the background, and Tecale did the same.

They moved quickly across the rocky terrain South, back towards the bog. Inian looked behind him and saw the most gigantic creature he had ever seen before.

It was a rock golem of insane proportions. It stood the height of one thousand Inians. It roared, shaking the earth with it.

The monster crushed rock wherever it stepped under its massive legs. It was looking around before it spotted a few low-tier monsters running away.

It began s.u.c.k.i.n.g air into its body, and the low-tier monsters caught in the vacuum cried out in fear.

They got s.u.c.k.e.d into its mouth, and the monster closed its jaw, eating any beast that fell into its maw.

Inian's eyes were wide in fear. He had just finished getting to the high-tier level, and he thought he was happy with that. But this was a Titan level monster?

He had never seen one before, but this is the same kind of monster that destroyed the sky train that Marc's father was on.

"Your majesty, where do you plan to go?" Asked Tecale as they were moving.

Inian answered, "I am going to Irigia. I have some friends there that I need to pick up. Then, I'm going to get my best friend...my brother."
