RWBY: A Mob Story

Chapter 6 - 'Wolfpine'

Today's a chilly day, it's been about two weeks since I've left Patch I traveled from village to village gathering information my trip has been fairly peaceful the Grimm have stayed away from me but I've been having a weird feeling as if I'm being watched be I decided that It's just my imagination sometimes I hear footsteps behind me but I think I'm just paranoid.

Currently, I'm traveling towards a small village called 'Wolfpine' that's Southwest of Vale located near the Cliffs, I found a lead that there's a fragment of the God of Darkness that can supplement my Silver eyes maybe if I obtain enough then I can get some for Ruby too the only problem is the Unique-type Grimm guarding the fragment.

I only plan to scout out the area to confirm the existence of the fragment and gather information about the Unique-type Grimm, I'll return to Vale report my findings to Ozpin then he'll whip up a plan on how to obtain the fragment then I'll go home to Patch and make some cookies for my little rose and yellow dragon.

I love traveling around Remnant and helping people just like the heroes from fairytales it's why I became a Huntress in the first place but I miss the simple family life that I could enjoy without care before but ever since I become a full-fledged huntress I haven't been able to spend as much time with my family.

After this mission, I can take a break hopefully but I'll think about resting later. Now I'm approaching 'Wolfpine' I need to find a place to stay then gather information on the Cliffs where an abnormal amount of Dark energy is leaking out of and the most likely location of a fragment.

Oh, I see 'Wolfpine' in the distance, it's a very nice town it reminds me of a small town I visited called Ansel. This town is nice and peaceful large stone walls are surrounding the town but the south gate was different it was barren, desolate and tense. It was surrounded by heavily armed guards who constantly looked towards the south as if they'll be attacked at any moment the tension was almost palpable.

I walked towards a guard who seemed to be in charge of guarding the south gate I ask him "Excuse me" he looks towards me "What is it?" I looked around at the gate "Why is it so weird and tense?" his face tensed "The Grimm have been coming in waves lately attacking very frequently, there are a few Rare-Type Grimm even a few sightings of a Unique-Type"

Damn, there is a Unique-Type Grimm, I was hoping those were just rumors but I guess not. I ask him for directions towards the nearest Inn, I check in to the Inn (For the record mega rip-off) and I flop on the bed, I had a long day so I'm going to enjoy a good sleep after a good sleep.

~The Next Day~

I woke around eight in the morning yawning and stretching going to the bathroom brushing my teeth a good cold shower preparing myself for the day, I walked around the town asking about the area around the south gate I learned that it's a forbidden area in 'Wolfpine' called Deadmans Land, I think it's obvious why it's called that so I didn't even bother asking.

I gathered all the info I could from the townsfolk but there wasn't too much-known info about the Deadmans Land just rumors and general things after thinking it over I decided to venture into the Southern forest just to scout out the area while looking out for the fragment, I went back to the Inn to gather all my belongings and buy other necessities for my trip.

I walked around town buying what I thought would be useful after an hour I was confident that I was as prepared as I could be, I made my way towards the South gate I saw the leader of the gate "Good Morning" he looked towards me a bit annoyed "Morning, Heading somewhere" he responded tiredly "Yes I was hoping to go to the Southern forest" his eyes widened it looks like all his fatigue disappeared and was replaced with a man prepared for war he only said one word.

"Why?" it wasn't a question it was a demand, he said this with such force that I could feel it reverberate throughout my mind I thought this man was a simple town guard but at this moment I knew I was very wrong this man is strong, If I say the wrong thing he'll kill me I have no doubt about it, I knew I only had one chance to properly explain my reason's so I took a deep breath and slowly thought out my well structured while easy to understand response.

"Wellimahuntresswhowassenttosenttoscou-" he puts his hand up to stop me and says "Calm down there little lady. Take a deep breath then explain" I took as deep as deep a breath as I could "Sorry about that I get nervous easily hehe" he gave a small chuckle "Yeah sorry about that it's just that the Southern forest is important to the people of 'Wolfpine'" I was confused isn't the southern forest bad? wouldn't it be better to clear it out or destroy the forest I was about to ask but he spoke first.

"I can already guess what your gonna ask the reason we protect this forest is to ensure the 'Skullcrawler' never escapes and to limit the exposure of the fragment so that the outside world won't be contaminated by the raw darkness" I had more questions than answers but I decided to ask the scariest "Skullcrawler?" his eyes flashed with raw anger when I asked about the Skullcrawler "It's a Grimm that has lived here for a long time, a confirmed Unique-Type and Demon-Classification" when he said that I only had one thing going through my mind 'You have to be f*cking kidding me' well I am not fighting that monster.

"Well, what about the contamination and raw darkness stuff?" he looked to be getting comfortable "Well, I'm guessing you came here because of rumors that there was a fragment here, well the reason 'Wolfpine' was founded right next to Deadmans Land was to monitor and protect the fragment from people who want to use it for unsavory reasons. The fragment releases an impossibly large amount of Negative energy that infects the surrounding life and nurtures the negative emotions of Grimm."

I was shocked I had no idea the fragment was so potent, I need to get the fragment no matter the cost it's too much of a danger to be left unchecked I decided to ask "Can I take the fragment from here?" he looked amused "If you can get it then be my guest, I don't want or need it. we would be grateful if you took it " he then opened the front gate yelling to the other guards " Good luck out there" I sent him a grateful look "Thank you Ummmm"

"You can just call me Salamander, how about you?"

"My name is Summer Rose thank you for everything and goodbye" I gave him one last look before I made my way towards the Southern forest.
