RWBY: The Phantom Of Remnant

Chapter 11 - Journey

After a day, everyone was up and fully rested. Magna actually gave Luna a bear hug as soon as she woke up, thanking her for everything she's done.

With everything taken care of and everyone finally recovered, Magna told the girls about his plan of leaving the ruins so they can catch up with his parents.

As expected, Luna and Argo quickly voiced their approval before quickly leaving to gather supplies for the trip.

Being left alone inside his temporary room, Magna slowly lost his smile as he thought back on to the appearance of that bird.

'That bird is definitely one of the Branwen twins. That things stare was way too human to be an animal. Only problems is that I have no clue which twin it is.'

Remembering the stare down he had with the bird, Magna couldn't actually feel what it's feeling. It felt kinda fuzzy, as if something was blocking him. However, the one thing he did manage to make sense of was the curiosity held within its gaze.

Shaking his head, Magna wryly smiled as he quietly mumbled, "…All things considered, I just hope it's not Raven."

Before he could think any further, two balls of fluff burst into the room with huge smiles. Argo, who had a huge bag on her back, happily exclaimed, "All packed and ready to go."

After a while, Magna noticed a silhouette in the distant background that seemed to be following him and the girls. The impulse to turn around and shout, "STOP FOLLOWING US!!!" was intense and extremely hard to hold back. However, he knew better than to open his mouth like that.

As Magna didn't trust either one of the Branden twins, if he just up and shouted that, he'd basically be telling them that he knows about the deal they had with Ozpin even though the only people who should know about it are Qrow, Raven, Ozpin, Glynda and Ironwood.

Suddenly, the silhouette in the background shot towards them, or more specifically, at Magna. Just before the bird reached him, it suddenly flew upwards before flying out of sight. Magna sighed before continuing forward with his sisters.

As day turned to night, the group decided to camp in a small opening for the night. As they knew that resting outside with no cover was akin to asking for death, they decided on taking nightshifts, to which Magna asked to be on first watch.

The trio honestly had a merry night, eating and chatting away before the girls collapsed onto their makeshift beds. Magna released a sigh as he stared at the girls with a complicated gaze. He knew that the trip has been really rough even though they can count not meeting any grimm as a blessing. However, the girls didn't complain once and just soldiered on with a smile.

Sadly, his brief moment of relaxation came to an end as the sound of rustling could be heard from around the camp. As he was about to move, the rustling slowly started to become quiet before instantly disappearing.

Stunned, Magna could only sit back down with a wry smile as he caught a glimpse of a black bird landing on a tree a couple feet away from him.

With the bird staring at him, Magna released a tiny cough and blushed slightly while sitting down. With literally nothing to do now, Magna picked up a rock from beside.

Rolling the rock between his palm, Magna curiously studied the rock before muttering, "Demon Wind Shuriken: Windmill of Shadows…"

Seeing the similar looking shuriken, Magna slowly lifted it from the ground and muttered with a tinge of shock, "It's light…" his eyesbrows slowly scrunched together as he continued, "Too light."

Putting a small amount of force on the blade, a loud and sharp ringing rang out as one of the blades had snapped off the shuriken. Sighing, Magna covered his face and said, "Knew it…"

The reason he started doing this is because of the fight he had with the Nevermore. When he had summoned the Windmill shurikens, he was in a rush and added less aura than usual. This resulted in him being able to hold them.

Suddenly, a question popped up in his head, 'If I add even less aura, does that mean I'll actually be able to carry them without struggling?' However, the results mildly disappointed him.

It turns out that the less aura he adds, the lighter and more brittle the weapon becomes. Luckily, he started by adding the least amount he physically could. Now, all he has to do is go up until he finds the right toughness and weight.

After a couple hours, Magna didn't even look fatigued as he stared at the rock in his palm. Taking a deep breath, a light blue aura slowly radiated around him. The light blue aura began to change into small tendrils that wrapped around the rock. Muttering the name of his ability, the rock suddenly changed into a huge windmill shaped shuriken.

A smile dawned on Magna's face as he finally managed to change the weight to something he could handle. As a small rustling noise could be heard from the bushes a couple feat away from him, Magna's eyes shone in excitement as he flashed into the trees above.

The noise turned out to be a normal boar. It looked left and right both continuing into their makeshift camping site. Even though Magna is just a noob when it comes to throwing shuriken, especially one of this size, he followed his instincts and threw the weapon with all his strength.

Before the boar could react, the windmill shuriken easily cut through its neck. With a thud, the corpse collapsed to the ground, startling the twins awake. Joy appeared on his face for a second before Magna felt a jolt of pain shot through the arm he used to throw the shuriken.

Sighing, Magna rubbed his arm and flashed next to where the sisters were inspecting the boar. As he looked at the twins, their faces were devoid of an anger or annoyance about being rudely woken up as their ears slightly fluttered while drool drip down their lips.

Shaking his head, Magna gave a dry smile and asked, "Are you girls hungry?"

Both wolf girls ears twitched as they both nodded in sync.

Before Magna could make any comment, Luna surprisingly took the corpse into the forest while Argo quickly setup a campfire to roast the boar on. After a couple minutes, Luna came back with the boar expertly gutted and carved.

Stunned, all Magna could do was watch as Luna said, "I've left the pelt a small distance away from here. We can pick it up when we leave as it should dry by morning."

When Magna finally gained his bearings, the sisters were already roasted the meat. Argo had used her semblance to ignite the fire while Luna helped with the roasting. Shaking his head, Magna gave the twins an amazed glance before sitting next to them for a late night snack.
