Sasha's Dream

Chapter 21 - A typical day

While Sasha was preparing for school out of habit, she felt strangely tired.

"It feels like I've slept for a long time..." She thought. So, she checked the calendar in case.

"January 24," she said to herself, "Nothing strange about that."

Then she made her breakfast, ate her breakfast and started for school without any of her parents noticing her leave.

She walked slowly but steadily so that she wouldn't trip as she was so sleepy that she could sleep right on the street. After a while, she reached school. Entering her class, she went to her desk beside the window facing the playground and sat down. She saw that there were things written on her desk as usual. So, she started cleaning silently without even asking anyone who had done it. She was very accustomed to it.

And so, the bell rang and the class started.

As always, the teachers were amazed at her brilliancy in studies and as always, her classmates were even more jealous of her resulting more bullying.

Though, there was one girl who never misbehaved with her. She never took part in bullying her either. But, she never stood up for her. As low spirited as Sasha was, she did notice her existence and always secretly admired her though she never helped her.

And so, the classes ended like it normally does and Sasha headed back home alone.

It was a little past 2 PM.

Sasha took her bath and had lunch. For lunch, she had the little something that her mother left on her table. It wasn't unusual at all. She never complained at all.

After lunch, she completed her homework and sat aimlessly on her chair. Suddenly she heard her mother calling. Quickly she went to her mother's room found it messy as usual.

"Where is your father?" She asked her without even looking at her.

Sasha had no idea. She was at school all morning.

"I don't know, mother."

Out of nowhere, her mother came right at her and started slapping her continuously.

"Why don't you know?! Isn't he your father, you bitch! You devil!!! Get out of my sight!" She said and let her go.

Sasha didn't cry. It was the usual, after all...

There were also the times when she tried to choke her. Her family was in a really dire situation. But, though Sasha gave up on her family, she never let go of her own sight.

She went back to her room and thought of drawing something like she usually did. So, she brought out a white page and a 2B pencil. But suddenly, she lost interest.

"What's wrong with me? This is one of the things I love doing. Why do I feel this way now?" She asked herself.

She realised something which she thought was wrong.

"Isn't it the only thing l love?"

"Really...what's wrong with me today?"

She kept on staring at the white page. After a while, she thought that looking at her own drawings might cheer her up. So, she brought out some drawings from a drawer of her table. She couldn't recognise any one of them.

"When did I draw them again? Who are they? Don't I usually draw—" and she stopped.

"What do I usually draw?" And she found herself lost in a maze, all alone and confused.

All on a sudden, she found her chick wet. She wiped it and sat silently.

"Why the hell am I crying?!"

She put away the drawings and went to bed as she had nothing better to do.

"What's happening to me? Why do I feel so heavy? Why does my c.h.e.s.t hurt so bad?"

And finally... She fell asleep.
