Secret Wife Is A Crazy Beast

Chapter 171 - [Bonus chapter]Putting in long hours

The day was long. Shen and Lina had worked more in that one day than the they had the rest of the month, despite being workaholics.

The news had indeed broken out soon after Lina's phone call to Shen. She knew what this meant for him. If anyone found out that it was through his shipping service that the Browning machine gun had been supplied to the "terrorists", nothing could save him. Not even her.

Shen knew that nobody could handle this crisis better than his wife. This is what she did for a living. He would leave his fate in her hands.

"Angel, I trust you with this. Tell me what I should do" he had asked her quietly, blood rushing into his ears from the shock of the disaster that had taken multiple innocent lives.

Lina knew that her Consultancy was professional and the people she hired were trustworthy. Their job was to guide those people and companies who came to them to avert crises. But she simply couldn't take the risk with her own husband.

She had to work this case alone. Moshi Corporation's case. Her love, her husband's case.

But Moshi Corporation's name had already been circulating amongst political elites. Takashi's message on her phone had made Lina's blood run cold.

He had received a tip.

*The transportation of the Browning has been traced back to the West Coast loading docks at Reaper's Port. The only vessels docked there belong to Moshi Corporation.*

Lina knew there was only so much she could do to keep Takashi in the dark. He had already provided her a list of companies with gold pass recommendation privileges in Country J and Moshi Corporation was on that list.

She needed an ally. And she didn't have a choice.

As she walked into the office doors, she was greeted by a torrent of different employees from different teams begging for her attention on several matters related to the shooting.

But her eyes fell on the grave looking face at the back standing next to Mei. Mei looked troubled and was biting her lip aggressively. She was the only one who knew which family her boss was married into.

Knowing that Takashi's sources had their fingers pointed at Moshi Corporation had made her nervous enough to want to pull her hair out. But she found peace in looking at Lina's steady gaze.

Boss always had a plan. And she would protect her husband at all costs. Mei smiled a small, awkward encouraged smile at Lina as she walked towards them.

For as steady as her gaze was, Lina felt panicky inside. She didn't remember feeling this way with any of her missions for the the Agency throughout her years as their spy and ȧssassin. So why did her heart race now? She had to get it together.

"Everyone, please, I need you all to work with Mei and provide her with a short brief of what you need to discuss with me and I will take it up in order of importance" she nodded at Mei, indicating that she would have to decide the order of importance.

"Mei, I need five minutes with Takashi - hold the fort, and only then start letting the teams into my office" she dictated as she nodded towards Takashi who promptly followed her back into her office.

As the doors closed behind him, Lina didn't waste a moment.

"Moshi Corporation is not responsible for this, Takashi. They are being set up."

Takashi looked at Lina, the slightest ever change in his stoic appearance. It was not like Lina to so quickly jump to a conclusion without even hearing him out and fact checking thoroughly.  .

As if having read his mind, Lina set his doubts to rest.

"I know this because Shen Moshi is...well...my husband" she finished, clearing her throat awkwardly.

This was such an unfortunate mix of her business and personal life.

Takashi's mouth opened to say something, but then closed again. He looked around the room awkwardly, he didn't know whether to congratulate his boss belatedly on getting married or curse at her involvement in one of the biggest crisis management events they had ever experienced.

"Well...that is truly, I mean, I am happy for you Boss. Congratulations...and I wish you all the best?" his statement ended in a question, not knowing if this situation was going to have a happy ending at all.

"Takashi" Lina interjected, he could deal with the shock later "listen, I know who's behind this. It's a major holdings company called Magnolia. The owners are very private and not much is publicly known about them but they have been using Moshi Corporation's shipping services to smuggle arms into Country A. They staged this attack to frame the Moshis"

Takashi wouldn't have trusted an outburst like that from just anyone, but Lina was different. He trusted her deeply and he trusted her judgment. He didn't question her.

"I won't tell a soul, I will keep a lid on the source and ask them to name another docking port. We will find any traces of Magnolia's involvement" he finished.

"Please Takashi...and thank you. I'll give you the next few hours to investigate, but I need something, desperately. The other teams have been corresponding with leaders who need to give answers to their people. The flow of information is a dangerous thing" she said, he voice trembling only in the slightest.

As he walked out of her office, her raked his fingers through his hair and huffed a sigh of exhaustion. She had entrusted him with a monumental task. He had to trust her as she had trusted him.

Shen Moshi was being framed and that was the bottom line.

Before Lina had a chance to turn around, one team had already shuffled into her office, papers flying everywhere.

"Boss, the Secretary of State from Country T's wife was around the park area during the shooting and nobody can reach her. Can we mobilise a rescue team on site?"

This day felt like it would never end. And all Lina wanted to do was be with her husband.
