Servants With A Modern Weapon

Under the hangar roof. We've already worn our G suit and the helmet on our head. The experimental fighter jets were waiting for us in the hangar.

The first one in the line was my CFA-44C Nosferatu. It was a fighter jet that was created in the joint project of Mikoyan Gurevich and Sukhoi. It is equipped with three special weapons. All-Direction-Multi-Purpose Missile "Inferno," which launch eighteen multipurpose micro missiles, Two "Purgatorio" Railgun which launch projectile less potent than the "Archlight" but way more powerful than the GE PRL-147 it also fires faster than the "Archlight." It also has "Cocytus" ECM (Electronic Countermeasure), which repurposed as an MCM(Magic Countermeasure). It was also equipped with UAV-45s "Malebolge" which was equipped with TLS.

"I piloted it this morning. What a truly magnificent fighter," Garth said as he glared at the Nosferatu.

"Haha, Why did you choose the Fenrir then?" I asked him.

"The optical camouflage and the microwave weapon," he said to while climbing his plane.

Behind me was Garth's aircraft. It was the XFA-33 Fenrir. It was equipped with an optical camouflage and a thermobaric missile. It also provided with a 360° view from the camera that is projected to the pilot's helmet. It uses the Connection-for-flight interface system. It uses your mind for piloting.

The next in the line was the X-02S strike wyvern. It was an aircraft that has a forward-swept wing that will fold during a high-speed flight. Although it needs two-person to operate, the second person was replaced by an A.I called Zone Of Endless.it was equipped with "Dark Fire" long-range air-to-air missiles, next-generation "Star Fire" anti-ship missiles (nicknamed "Flipper" due to their shape), and an experimental "Arclight" railgun which fires a kinetic projectile with an energy more than the "Purgatorio" railgun.

The last one on the list was Cecile's aircraft, the ADFX-02 "Morgan." It is a prototype fighter created by the Joint Fighter Program based on plans from an unspecified country. It is classified as a supreme aircraft within the 4.5th generation of fighter aircraft. It can be equipped with powerful weapons such as the "TLS" (Tactical Laser System) and "MPBM" (Multi-Purpose Burst Missiles). It features forward-swept wings and canards, resulting in high maneuverability despite its size as a large scale aircraft.

"Well, Let's enter our plane, shall we?" I said as Garth started the engine of his plane.

We climbed into our aircraft then closed the glass canopy of our plane. I fit all of the life support systems into the jet then start the engine. The hangar door slowly opened then we taxied our aircraft out of the hangar.

As usual, I asked for confirmation from the ATC.

Wilson: "Lectrect squadron requesting take off."

ATC: "Letctrect squadron cleared for takeoff on runway 10."

Wilson: "Roger."

We taxied our plane to the runway then Garth asked for further authorization from the air traffic control tower. After that, we turned on our afterburner, then our aircraft took off from the airbase.

ATC: "Letctrect squadron, Altitude restriction removed. Have a nice flight."

After we reach an altitude high enough. I asked Maria, where should we go. I mean I don't know where should we go since I'm not really interested in the trip that they want.

In the orange dawn sky. The jets were flying in a formation, decorating the night skies of the fantasy world with a pinch of modern tech. It was so beautiful.

Wilson: "Where should we go? Do you have any idea?"

Maria: "The Tanerian Empire?"

Wilson: "Ok, and may I know why?"

Maria: "Garth, tell them."

Garth: "Ok, where should I start? Ok, this morning, when we were leaving the airbase, we decided to fly to the Tanerian Empire. When we arrived at the nearest town region from the border, we saw something that astonishing."

Wilson: "What is that?"

Garth: "So when we flew above the city that we saw during our flight, we saw battle mechs. They were roaming around the city doing patrol."

Wilson: "How did they look?"

Garth: "A human-like machine which has hands and legs. Some of them have a sword on their hands, and some of them have staff on their hands."

Wilson: "Does that mean a bad thing or an ordinary thing?"

Maria: "Usually a country deployed a mech when there is a threat from a dragon, or a large scale war is coming. From their behavior, the option can be both since the Tanerian, and the Soniel are an enemy against each other, . There was a dragon threat that you exterminated some times ago."

Wilson: "What did both of you do? You were in the same jet as now, and Garth was in a regular Nosferatu."

Garth: "Well, in the act of curiosity, we flew lower than we should be. As it turned out that they were having training in urban warfare. Suddenly a barrage of flame spell flew to our direction. The mechs were firing a spell as large as a small house in our direction. We quickly scrambled and raised our altitude by a bit. A sword mech threw his sword from the ground and tried to slash us."

Wilson: "Well, you are dumb. What happened next?"

Maria: "Because I was the flight leader, I was forced to make many decisions with many different outcomes. I successfully narrow the decision into two options. Option one which was just to run away, but at the risk of the mech following us. Option two was crippling the mech. I chose option two since we weren't that far from the border region; about 100 km."

Wilson: "That isn't a good option, but not a bad one either. You could fly further into the heart of the country then return using a different route than that. But still, I prefer option two myself."

Maria: "Ok, So Garth opened fire into the mech by cramping them with 12 missiles, which each one has fusion warhead. The mechs were crippled because of that, and I was finishing the biggest one with a blast from my railgun to its legs. That's the reason why we bring you to a flight."

Wilson: "Ok, if that is the case. Garth, Could you do some survey?"

Garth: "Sure, I have an optical camouflage equipped."

Wilson: "Ok, when we arrived at near the town, you will do some recon while we will circling around the night sky. Copy that."

Garth: "Understood."

We continued our flight to the town region that Maria was talking about. The orange sky was pretty beautiful, describing our worry about the situation. War is terrible news, and we need to delay it as long as we can. I will destroy any messenger or army that got too close to Soniel. If a war is happening, that means that we will get drafted as well. It's bad news since we can get easily killed by overwhelming forces and our friend's stupidity.

The sun began to set on the west, we watch the sunset.

"It's so beautiful, isn't it?" Maria said as she looked at her left.

"Yeah, God's creation never disappoints us, isn't it?" I said as I look to my left and put my left hand on the canopy.

"Yeah, the bright sky will be replaced by the dark sky as we gave darkness to Tanerian empire," Cecile said as she looked at my aircraft.

"Haha, the darkness of an enigma. Your phrase is hard to be understood by me," I laughed at her statement.

Maria suddenly flew on top of me. She matched the speed of my plane; then she rotated the aircraft upside-down. She then did something I never thought of before. She raised her left hands, then raised the middle finger.

"Haha, Maria, that's rude," I further laughed at her.

She returned the plane back to the place where it should be. Right next to Garth's Fenrir.

We continued our flight without the afterburner. We just want to relax in the plane, the afterburner is suitable for a long-range trip. The silver wing of Garth's Fenrir, the giant pods on top of Cecile's Morgan, The silverish wing from Maria's Wyvern, and a blipping light from the edge of the wing in every aircraft. The stars in the sky were shining, making the sky brighter.

A bright spot on the horizon could be spotted, only though it wasn't the star. It was a light coming from a building, a town. I gave a command to Garth, so he started the surveillance in the city.

He gave me a signal by waving his hand then turned on the optical camouflage on his plane. On day time, his plane is barely visible, . Still, on the night time, the aircraft is literally invisible without any IR sensor.

Wilson: "Lectrect 1, Please send us the picture that you got from the IR camera."

Garth: "Copy that, Lectrect 2."

A bunch of semi-black and white pictures were sent into the onboard computer of our fighter jets. Most of them were the pictures of the mechs which were under repair from Garth and Maria's trail of destruction.

Wilson: "Could you tell me what have you done with that battle mech? Why some of them turned into scrap metal?"

Maria: "Garth shot it with his ADMM, and I shot it with my EML."

Wilson: "How many times did you shoot it, Maria? If Garth is the one who did it, then it wouldn't be complete confusion."

Maria: "Just three times."

Wilson: "THREE TIMES? So that's why I saw a large hole penetrating from the north side of the town wall to the south side of the town wall. That railgun is pretty powerful, you know."

Maria: "I know, but overkill won't damage anyone, will it?"

Wilson: "It will, only God knows how many civilians you have killed."

Garth returned back to our formation after disabling his optical camo. He flew between Cecile and me. He came back with a report on the situation.

Garth: "Lectrect 1 report, the damage that we inflict was so severe that some of the soldiers with the unbroken mech decided to leave the town before anyone else."

Wilson: "Is it in the direction of the Soniel kingdom?"

Garth: "No, it evacuating from the town."

Wilson: "Ok, I see."

"Mortals, Why did you kill my young brother?" A voice was suddenly resonating on my head.

"Guys, do you hear what I've just heard?" I asked them all with a confused tone.

"Yeah, who are you?" Maria asked the strange noise.

"My name is Ommonth, Protector of The Sky," it said to me.

That's not a good thing.

"Lectrect squadron, BREAK FORMATION!!" I said.
