Servants With A Modern Weapon

Chapter 60 - Recon on Demon's Territory

Back in the mansion, we were moving things here and there. Not because we were moving, but because the mansion was under attack and on fire. We were wearing full camo uniform. Besides that, while Garth and I were struggling to move and make a lot of barricades while covering for our escape.

"MOM, DAD, who is doing this to you?" Maria cried over the dead remnants of her parents.

Garth was putting more furniture while barricading the door, and Cecile was attaching a rappelling kit on the window of the burning mansion, "Maria, we got no time for griefing now. We must escape now before this mansion falls into the ground!!" I shouted at her while helping Garth.

"Wilson, Rappeling gear is all set. Maria, We must go NOW!!!" Cecile said as she rappeled down the window.

Garth was done with the barricade, and he rappeled down the window. Maria was still grieving for his parents, and I was shooting the enemy with my GM-94. I let her be, but suddenly the window broke apart, and the window was falling out of the ground.

"Grab what you need, our window has become tighter," I said as Maria grabbed her mother's necklace and her father's ring.

She stood up beside me while putting the relic of her parents in her back pocket. I fired up the GM-94 to the direction of a wall near the pond. The pond was deep enough for us, so I can jump from the second floor.

"JUMP NOW!!!" I said as I jumped to the pond, and my head entered the water.

End of the Dream

"Wilson, WAKE UP!!!" Maria shouted from the mic of her flight helmet.

"Maria?? Well, have we arrived at the demon's territory?" I asked her with a mix of a confident tone and a confused tone.

"We have, we will enter the area of Demon king castle soon," she said as she banked the plane to the left.

I grabbed the stick with my left hand. I slowly took control of the plane, and I saw Torres had already woken up as well.

"Good morning everyone, let's enjoy the sunrise shall we?" The sky had turned orange on the east.

The sun rose slowly, the clock on display showing 06.00 o'clock. We finally saw a town underneath.

"Could you take a picture of the town?" I asked her.

"Sure," she said as she operated the touchscreen in front of her and deployed the gigapixel camera.

The camera can capture every single detail in a radius of 3 km with a crystal clear image.

"Well, is this satellite grade camera on our recon plane is too overpowered for this kind of job?" She asked me.

"I think so, but we will need to capture every single detail from this clear sky. Besides, if it is cloudy, we could use the infrared," I said to her.

After several time circling the town, we decide that we have taken enough pictures. I continued to fly the planes to the heart of the demon empire.

On the way, I saw many caves that had a resemblance to a reinforced fortification.

"Maria, what is the cave below us?" I asked her who was looking at the camera.

"It is a dungeon. The demons launched a cl.u.s.ter of demons from there. It is similar to a missile silo," I said to him.

"Missile silo? You mean it launches the demon like a missile?" I asked her.

"Some sort of like that, I think. That's what the book said after all," she replied.

"Ok, I see," I followed Sobri's jet.

Wilson: "Lieutenant Torres, Did General Blackwell give you the mission detail?"

Torres: "General Blackwell gave me one. I will send it to your onboard computer."

Wilson: "Ok."

The display in front of me showed a box read "Data Transfer In Progress" with a progress bar inside of it. When the transfer was completed, a bunch of pictures and writings appeared in front of me.

"Maria, take control for some minute! I want to check the data that she gives to me," I said as I touched the screen in front of me.

"Sure, Why not?" she answered as the jet continued to fly between the canyon.

The mission detail was a file with a bunch of text doc.u.ment inside of it along with some pictures. Surprisingly enough, one of the images was the coronation of the demon king itself. He was wearing very fancy clothes like the Frans Joseph I of Austria, albeit with a pair of horns with his blue dresses and red robe. I wondered why such an old man with a thick mustache got coronated as the demon king.

I saw several pictures of demon entering the Grassland, Costellia, Windblows, and Vialis village itself. The demons were hanging around here and there, but some of the photographs showed that the demons were also doing some sabotage and espionage action. Eavesdropping on government official houses, breaking a supply carriage on purpose, and worse of all was walking near the Flameguard military base.

Although, Captain Hasslebrown neutralized the demon that was walking near the base. She said the reason was that the demon would be lurking around any place that has the sign of "Restricted Area." Well, that was an espionage action so I could tolerate she killed that demon.

The demons had also tested their experimental weapon, which was the magic cannon. It could break any city wall based on the intel gathered by 34th Recon squadron. Most of the pictures was a wall with a hole in it, nothing too special. The cannon was like a regular medieval cannon, but bigger and has some inscription on it.

The demons also had the battle mech just like the Tanerian empire. Their battle mech also had the sword and the staff just like the Tanerian's, but one of their mechs was also can fly. Wait, their battle mech can fly???

I switched the HUD to normal and initiated the combat HUD. It boosts the plane maneuverability at the cost of less cabin comfort. Maria stood by to fire the weapon and observed the radar for any sudden movement.

I pulled up the stick and gained altitude ASAP. Sobri also followed me from behind using his F-15E. I recommended myself to do the surveillance from the edge of the stratosphere because it will be safer.

Maria asked me while operating the touchscreen behind me, "Wilson, do you also notice it?"

With a cold sweat on my face, I asked her back, "What do you mean?"

"A three flying object behind our back when we were flying near the canyon. I thought you notice that on the radar, didn't you? Because of that, Sobri and I must do a dangerous maneuver in the canyon on the speed of Mach 4.1," she said to me.

"Maybe because I was too busy looking at the data, so I didn't notice that. Is the target is that fast?" I asked her.

"Faster than that dragon obviously, but not fast enough too catch us on that speed," Maria said as she continued to take pictures with the camera.

"Go Hypersonic, Sobri's F-15E can handle that since the airframe material completely differs from the ordinary F-15," I said as I pushed the throttle further to the front and the exhaust from our jet glow brighter and bigger.

Torres: "General, do you notice a flying mech behind us?"

Maria: "Flying mech? What are you talking about? I thought only ordinary things like a dragon that has an interest in catching us. I only saw three objects on the radar, and I only turned on the afterburner because I want to avoid close visual contact."

Torres: "It's a flying mech general? Colonel Sobri, Don't you agree?"

Sobri: "Yeah, I also saw that flying mech."

Maria: "Well, Luckily, we have climbed to a safer altitude so they won't chase us again. Continue the recon!!"

Torres: "Yes, ma'am."

Maria continued to take pictures while I flew the planes while seeing the preview of the photograph that she made. Some of that was the fortification that the demon has, and the others were the photo of the city in demon territory.

"Maria, are you surprised because of the fact that the living things that were flying behind us are a man-made machine?" I asked her.

"Obviously, considering that they can move at Mach 1," she replied as I saw a preview of the demon castle.

"Why there is a lot of staff pointed upwards on the demon castle?" I asked Maria.

"It's their A-A. They learned their mistakes from the last war. Apparently, the hero used Dragon mounted with .50 cal to a great effect," she replied to me.

".50 cal? Damn," I replied to her.

"Do you want to test it out?" I asked her.

"Sure, I'm eager to fire the railgun," as every single weapon system had turned online.

Wilson: "Gradivus squadron, proceed your mission with crippling the Anti-Air of hostile defense network."

Sobri: "Righto."

We dived into the atmosphere while still maintaining the speed of Mach 5. The A-A started to open fire at us with a barrage of magic spells.

Sobri: "Gradivus 2 Bombs away."

Wilson: "Gradivus 3, firing A/G missiles."

Bombs from the jets dropped down on the A-A guns, and we flew back to our base.

Sobri: "Good job General."

Wilson: "You too, colonel, you too."

We flew in a very low altitude, then suddenly that flying mech appeared from behind us.

Wilson: "Hit the afterburner to the max, burn that nuke rod if you have to."

Sobri: "Roger that, General."

We outrun the flying mech with the speed of Mach 10. It's swift indeed, and any maneuver will be hard.

"Haha, we outrun them. RTB," I said as I gain altitude to the mesosphere.

"Roger," Sobri said in his F-15E.
