Servants With A Modern Weapon

Chapter 87 - A Classic Play

2100 hours, 300 km to Costellia

"Hey, Sergeant, stop here," I knocked my hands on Charlotte's back.

There was a carriage with a broken axle stopped in front of us, they were waving their torch. They must be looking for help, so I told Sergeant Heumann to stop the car.

"Wait here, stand by," I said as I got out of the car and approached the broken carriage.

I walked there and saw some men surrounding the wheel. They were looking at the broken axle of the carriage. They were wearing either leather armor or plate armor, and some of them had a bow on their back. Also, there are some dead bodies there.

"Sir, How may I help you?" I asked one of them.

"Hey there, young boy, well you can see for yourself," he said as he pointed his torch to the broken wheel.

"Well, looks like I can't help you, sir, what are you bringing there, Cargo?" I asked him.

"Well, we are a merchant going to Grasswall, but it looks like we stuck here," he answered while scratching his helmet.

"Merchant? What are you bringing?" I asked him.

"Well, that's a secret cargo," he answered.

Suspicious, there are only two outcomes. One, they're not lying, and that's truly a secret cargo considering the amount of weapon that they have or second, this is an ambush, considering the number of dead bodies.

"Well, sorry," I said as I left them.

I returned to the car and sat back at the chair, Charlotte complained to me, "Respectfully sir, but I have been driving for twelve hours straight. Could you drive, sir?"

"That's ok, you need a rest, after all, let's switch position," I said as both of us got out of the car and switched position.

She sat at the front passenger seat, and I sat on the driver seat. For notes, Natalie has gone to sleep. So I was left alone with Charlotte.

I hit the gas and drove passed the broken carriage. Though truth to be told, I want to help them, but my feeling says no. Better drive faster, I don't want one of them to chase after me in a horse.

Occasionally, when the road is straight, I looked at my left direction. A beautiful stary night sky with a short-haired girl with an eyepatch beside me, couldn't be anymore better, is it? She cut her hair in the necessary training and continue to do so until now, though the one behind me makes her hair longer than before since she was more like a boy previously, now she is a beauty.

The first stop is the town of Hollinger, it is said that wine from that town is outstanding. General Galliard said that General Alexson has the same bad habit as her father which is drinking. He said that when she was little, his father usually left some of his leftover drinks on the table, and General Alexson regularly drinks it. That's how she becomes a drinker.

"Andrew," Charlotte m.o.a.n.e.d beside me.

"Yes?" I asked her back and replied by a big snooze from her.

"Oh, She is sleep talking," I said to myself.

With the speed of 60km/h, I traversed through the bricks road of the Sonile kingdom. It wasn't a pleasant experience at all, but still better than being inside a carriage. Though, the luggage on the back of our car gave a pretty loud noise every time I hit a bump on the road.

Like all long road trip, the view is pretty dull compared to our base, just grass and forest even worse that I was driving on the night, so I won't know anything that was not in front of us. Luckily, the trip will end in about an hour since Hollinger was only sixty kilometers away from my position.

"Duh, better turn on the radio," I pressed the button, and the DJ, as usual, played the music.

'This is Staff Sergeant Albert ready to accompany you during the night. We have a story from one of our captains, "Do you believe that a miracle exists? One night when I was patrolling around the base, I see this very beautiful lieutenant and accidentally kissed her, and guess what? She wants more." Haha, captain, nice one. This next song is just for you, captain, "Ain't that a kick in the head," by Dean Martin.'

Hmm, a captain that accidentally kissed another officer. He seems to be a fortunate person, I think. Well, I will just sing along with the song since it will make the ride less annoying it already is.

"How lucky can one guy be."

"I kissed her, and she kissed me."

"Like a fellow once said, ain't that a kick in the head."

"The room was completely black," a voice suddenly could be heard from behind.

"Hey there Sergeant, why did you wake up?" I asked her.

"Nothing, just figure out to stay wake up to accompany you for now," She answered.

"So sweet," I said.

"What is the first stop, Andrew?" She asked me.

"Hollinger, We will buy a bottle of Cabernet there, it's for General Alexson

birthday," I said as I displayed the destination on GPS.

"Yey," She said.

"Yeah, time for some shopping," The car continued to traverse the dark road.
