[7YrSecretLove] Chapter 12.3 — Delete His Message

Seeing her younger cousin so happy about the flowers, Luo Yu seemed to be unaware of her brother-in-law’s behavior.

Luo Qi changed her clothes and went to help in the kitchen.

After finishing the birthday meal, Luo Yu wiped her hands and called Luo Xin with her mobile phone, “I don’t know if Heartless is home.”

Luo Qi rubbed her temple, “How many times have I said, call him ‘older brother’, don’t call him ‘Heartless’.”

Luo Yu turned a deaf ear as always. The video call connected; Luo Xin was already  home from work. He ordered takeaway, bought a few cans of beer for himself, and celebrated Luo Qi’s birthday with them.

After lighting the candles on the cake, Luo Yu turned off the lights in the dining room, “Sister, make a wish!”

This was the second cake for her twenty-eighth birthday, and the second wish she made this year.

Luo Qi still had the same wish as before: that she would make a fortune so that her parents could live a better life, and when the rainy season came again, she would not have to worry about the damp and mold in their old house.

There was also a small wish: she hoped that no matter what happens, she would be happier.

In this year’s wish, there was no longer any mention of Pei Shixiao.

Luo Yu sang the birthday song and made a wish of her own in her heart. Once the Mid-Autumn Festival was over, Luo Yu would look for Pei Shixiao, hoping to catch him, hoping that Pei Shixiao would turn around in time, and hoping that everything she suspected was just a lie.

Wishes made, they started cutting the cake.

Luo Xin, who could only stare at them eating cake, said “Sister, are you going back to Suzhou for the Mid-Autumn Festival?”

Luo Qi nodded, “Will go back. I have three days off. I’ll go back with Yu Bao. What about you?”

Luo Xin works in Shanghai, very close to Suzhou City, “Will go back too, I’ll pick you two up at the station.”

The talk soon touched on their childhood and this made the shared birthday meal very warm.

Luo Yu stayed with Luo Qi until half past nine before leaving.

Pei Shixiao sent her another message: [Qi, have you eaten the birthday cake yet?]

[Done.] Luo Qi stared at the chat box for a few seconds, then typed slowly: [Thank you for the flowers.]

Pei Shixiao was unsure of her tone.

Luo Qi sent something again: [I’m going to sleep.]

Pei Shixiao looked at the time, it was not yet ten o’clock in China, she had never gone to bed so early. She might still be angry at him, so she didn’t want to talk to him very much.

But at least she was willing to text him back.

He said: [Good night. I love you.]

Luo Qi deleted his last message.

… …

On the morning of the Mid-Autumn Festival, Luo Qi and her cousin took the high-speed train back to Suzhou City.

They sat in ordinary seats, and Luo Yu left Luo Qi the seat by the window.

At this time, Jiang Shenghe was working overtime in the Yuanwei Building.

Today was a holiday, and he was the only one in the entire president’s office.

Ten minutes ago, his mother called him and asked him if he was free to go home for dinner.

He lied and said that he was on a business trip abroad and couldn’t make it back for the reunion dinner.

His father was at home; there was no need for him to go back.

In recent months, he has been in no mood to listen to anyone nagging about his marriage.

In the evening, he received a call from Qin Moling.

Qin Moling asked, “Where are you?”

“Company.”

“I’ll go to you.”

“Why are you going here? Didn’t you go home?” Jiang Shenghe took out a cigarette pack from the drawer and put one into his mouth.

“When I go to your place, it’s quiet and peaceful. Too many people at home and it’s noisy.”

Qin Moling didn’t want to stay at home. A while back, his blind date stood him up, and his family kept laughing at him about it.

Jiang Shenghe found the lighter and lit up a cigarette. “You don’t need to come here, just go to my aunt’s house. I’ll head over too.”

Qin Moling had a very good relationship with Jiang Yueru since he was a child, and to him, she was the most trustworthy elder.

Whenever he got in trouble in primary school, the teacher-in-charge would ask him to write a self-criticism which had to be signed by his parents. Every time he finished writing, Jiang Shenghe helped to bring home the self-criticism and asked Jiang Yueru to sign it for him.

When Jiang Yueru learned that the two were coming for the Mid-Autumn Festival, she asked her cooking aunt to add a few more dishes.

A table was set up in the yard, and they could enjoy the moon while eating.

As the evening fell, the cars the two of them drove arrived in Jiang Yueru’s villa one after the other.

Jiang Yueru came out of the villa with a bottle of red wine.

“Aunt, let me open it,” Qin Moling took the wine and corkscrew from her.

Jiang Yueru handed a wet towel to his nephew to wipe his hands with, “It’s rare for your father to spend the Mid-Autumn Festival at home. Aren’t you deliberately angering him by not going home?”

“If I go home and say something that shouldn’t be said, he would be even angrier. It’s better not to go, then I can’t anger him.”

He paused.

“If I meet my dad after December 18th, then it’s not impossible to go on a blind date according to his wishes.”

Qin Moling looked up from opening the bottle of wine, “What’s so special about December 18?”

“No reason.” Jiang Shenghe casually wiped his hands, wrapping his fingers in the warm towel.

Jiang Yueru silently glanced at her nephew.

On December 17th, Luo Qi will have her wedding.
