It was house... that's it.

One room and bunch of people she didn't see so far inside. There was huge fire pit inmid of the house and everyone sat near the fire to stay warm.

Room itself was neither warm or cold and she sighed. These mud houses are truly too cold.

She uncociously glanced under the eave's and saw that there were holes as they were more afraid to suffocate then to die of coldness.

Well, that's not wrong. As the fire was open that might really happen, well that's not her problem.

She politely bowed towards dozen or so people and saw few boys she didn't see so far. Where have they been all these months?

Hiding in house?

Ivok almost could read her mind and chuckled. "My brother's work in city and come over winter time to spend day or two with us. They didn't expect this storm."

She calmly just said 'Oh' and walked towards village chief Xar. "Chief, we came to ask you for something."

Seeing Kendra and Arsety together. "Did something happen? "

Arsety smiled. "No. I asked Kendra to accept Eni as apprentice, but she wanted to make it official."

Xar glanced at Kendra and saw her eyes gleaming dangerously and had strange feeling. "What do you mean officially?"

"A contract. On ten years. After ten years she will be free, but until then, she is ours." Her lips spread into bright smile and he thought this is not a bad deal.

"You do know you have to feed and dress her next ten years?" He warned her.

"What we have, we will share. If in few years she chose a man to marry, we will provide dowry. But our contract will not break until ten years later." For next ten years she will teach and protect that child.

Not even Isaa knew, but the moment they entered this world, it started slowly changing. And she could feel it.

As these were commoners, they can't handle much aura, and it's as so little that it was almost undetectable.

But to her itw as literally visible. Thin strands of power flow slowly towards ground and seeped inside, probably turning into stones of power or wells of power.

She didn't want to use those powers as she will instantly get powers in ten years, but this girl can. She will probably need few hundred or even thousand years years to just pass trough the tenth boundary and then there is more.  .

Since transmigrating to this new life she knew everything is luck. If she gets lucky sheight grow more or might not. But as it seems she was born lucky as they met.

Her apprentice can't be weakling...

She calmly glanced at the man in front of her and her eyes darkened just for tiny instant. But it's as enough for Xar to get that.

This girl was not normal person and now he became even more certain as she smiled at him. "Chief, you can write, right?"

He chuckled. "Yes. I shall write contract and you will speak."

Kendra glanced at Arsety. "If you refuse to the contract speak right now. Don't say later I pushed you and your family into something uncanny. Look how many people are here that are my witnesses."

Arsety gulped and nodded. "I will not break my word."

"Good." She calmly took out money bag that she had in her jacket. For some reason she thought it's not wrong to have money in pocket in case of emergency.

She placed fifty coins on nearby table. "This is for five copies of contract. One I will take, one he will take, one will stay with Village Chief, one will stay in city hall and last will be sent to capital."

Everyone gasped. "Preposterous!"

She blinked calmly. "It's a legal document and by any logic one copy should be in hands of the government. Anything anyone does using documents should be known to the ministry as that was their job. No matter how small the issue is, no matter how small the contract is, it should be reported as it's official document."

Xar nodded and looked back at his family. "She is right. What's the point of government if they don't know what is going on in this land. Let's start."

Hearing his words few people behind him suddenly paled. They made contracts but had no idea that they had to report it to government.

Kendra was precise what she wanted to have in contract.

"Eni, daughter of Arsety will be apprentice of Kendra and Isaa for ten years. After ten years she is free to live as she wants until end of her life. Until ten years pass, her whole life will be controlled by Kendra and Isaa and not even her parents have right to speak or to argue." She glanced at Xar and smield sweetly. "Rest of legal document will be written by you as you know rules better than I do."

He seriously rephrased the words and added few legal sentences and gave her to read but she shook her head. "Can't read. I'll just print my hand."

He almost hit his head. This girl might be cunning little fox, but she was still just a small girl that didn't know much. Of course she didn't know how to read.

Even his sons had hard time learning all letters of their lenaguage and bȧrėly can make simple sentences.

So he accepted such fact and just waited for them both to stamp their hands on all five copies and signed with his own name and seal he got from the Emperor.

With their own copy she smiled at everyone, bowed politely and left.

Arsety was still dazed as he got the contract and glanced at Xar. "What does this mean?"

Xar pursed his lips and snorted. "Too late to regret or to ask questions. This contract means that next ten years this girl will control Eni's life and after ten years Eni will control her own life as she wants it."

Arseny nodded. "I understood that, but why this?"

Xar became serious. "If you ever regret in future, even if your wife regrets, it's too late. This document will be sent to the Palace and will stay there as proof even if her copy disappears. Even if my copy dissapeard, your copy, her copy or copy that will go to the City Hall, that copy that house to Palace can't dissapear. Ever."

Arseny had no idea that in future he would regret ten thousand times for signing this contract.

On other hand Kendra walked back with ehavy steps but smile on her lips. He gave up on his daughter like she was nothing more then a piece of stone in his shoe. What father would accept such ridiculous contract?

Isaa came out and was waiting for her and saw her face turning from smile to sneer and her heart jumped.

"Kendra, calm down. They don't know better." She tried to calm this girl that always went on rampage whenever she thought someone is mistreating children.

"Ignorance is just an excuse." Kendra sighed and waved her hand. "Never mind. I will not harm commoners as long they don't do atrocities. I'm maybe quite a reckless person sometimes, but I'm not that bad to harm without real cause. He sent her here because he cared and accepted anything as he hoped she will have food to eat and clothes to wear. I'm angry actually at the indifference her own mother had for this child only because she is girl... "

Eni sat inside and listened to their words with sorrow. She knew her father loved her and mother and grandmother detested her. She as well knew that these two girls will be good to her.

So she made decision to do everything what they asked her to do. No matter how difficult it might be.

Her father's decision changed her life from ground on. The moment the two entered the room and looked at her she got stunned.

Both girls had starnge smile on their face and she blinked at them with her big eyes.

"Eni, from today on..."
