Chapter 3.2

In the next instant, the dazzling brilliance of silver and white brushed Er Sheng’s ear and plunged into the zombie’s forehead. At this moment, time seemed to stop and the zombie’s wide-open mouth didn’t move.

Er Sheng was dumbstruck for quite a while before realizing that the zombie had been killed by the white light just now. She stared blankly at the place where the light came —a robe of blue and white was fluttering in the air, a woman with a cold and fairy-like face glanced at her indifferently, and then she looked toward the village that was filled with death qi.

With the silver sword dancing lightly in her hand, she shouted ruthlessly, “Kill!”

Blue light flickered around as Er Sheng saw a row of people also wearing blue and white robes on a white background behind the woman. They heard the woman’s order and disappeared in an instant.

“D-Daoist— Immortal?” Er Sheng murmured blankly.

Suddenly, the grip on her ankles tightened again, her hair stood up from the chills. Only then, she remembered that another zombie was pulling her. She kicked with her two feet— she stood up and stomped on the zombie’s hand which was desperately holding on: “Damn your mother! This great aunt almost got eaten!”

After she vented the fear in her heart, Er Sheng glanced at the woman who had fallen to the ground, and gave an out-of-place salutation: “Thank you Daoist Immortal for saving my life!” After speaking, she turned around and walked into the woods.

“Wait!” The woman called, “You can’t walk around until we get rid of the zombies.”

“I’m going to find someone in the woods.”

“There are still people in the woods?”

The woman thought for a while and said: “I will go with you.”

Er Sheng nodded since it was naturally a good thing that someone protected her.

Even if the woman is as cold as ice, the moment she saw Chang Yuan, she couldn’t help but be stunned. First, she was stunned by the face of that person. Second, she was stunned by the ruin around him —ten meters beyond the giant tree was deserted, and corpses of zombies were scattered on the ground, just like a slaughter scene. On the other hand, in the place near the man, white velvet flowers were blooming beautifully.

He slowly opened his eyes as he seemed to sense the movement of two people approaching. His face was still a little pale, but the unstoppable murderous aura in his black eyes made the woman feel terrified for a while. She couldn’t help but stop and stay in place.

Er Sheng was nauseous from the rotten stench, thinking that there was still some zombie’s brain remains hanging in her face. She hoicked out a mouthful of sour water. The sound of abrupt vomiting was very sudden in the silent surrounding.

The murderous aura in Chang Yuan’s eyes gradually dissipated, instead, he knitted his brows: “Er Sheng, come here.”

Er Sheng patted her chest as she felt better after she vomited. She softly called out Chang Yuan, her front teeth were knocked off, and her speech whistled like a sibilant sound. With a little grievance on her face, she ran to his side.

“Wait!” The white-robed woman stopped Er Sheng, “He is not human.”

At first, Er Sheng was startled when she heard this. Then, she gave Chang Yuan a stupefied look. Chang Yuan’s expression remained unchanged, he looked at her quietly as usual. After a while of silence, Er Sheng pushed away the hand in front of her.

“None of your business.”

The answer was so natural that the woman was a little stunned. When she ran to Chang Yuan’s side, Er Sheng saw that Chang Yuan’s face was terrifyingly pale, and when she touched his hand, she found that it was much colder than before. Er Sheng’s eyes immediately turned red: “What’s wrong with you, Chang Yuan?”

“It’s okay.” He suppressed the fishy smell coming from her, “Tooth—” As soon as this was mentioned, Er Sheng’s tears fell. She was crying with her missing front tooth. For thousands of years, Chang Yuan had never seen anyone cry like this in front of him, and immediately panicked, “Uh— does it hurt so much? Is it really painful?”

Er Sheng shook her head, nodded again, and said vaguely after some time: “The front teeth, it won’t grow back, I can’t eat— I can’t eat anymore— I’ll starve to death— I’ll starve to death—”

Chang Yuan’s expression changed a bit when he heard this, but he calmed down immediately, and solemnly asked Er Sheng, “Is it serious?”

Er Sheng nodded.

“Is there a remedy? I’ll help you find it.”

That serious expression on his face seemed to acknowledge Er Sheng’s theory that people would starve to death if they lacked their front teeth.

The woman in white was speechless for a while after listening to their conversation. She finally couldn’t help but say, “It turns out that you’re just missing a tooth, you can’t cry like this. The most urgent thing is to get out of here first. The corpses of the zombies disperse poisons that are harmful to humans.”

Er Sheng listened, and quickly wiped away her tears: “Chang Yuan, can you walk?”

Chang Yuan glanced at her teeth again, then shook his head: “The injury is not healed yet, so I can’t go.”

After hearing this, the woman was shocked. This person was seriously injured before, yet he could kill so many zombies without taking a step— She didn’t know that it was precisely because he killed those zombies that the divine power that Chang Yuan gathered with extreme difficulty dissipated.

Er Sheng didn’t think as much as the woman. Hearing that Chang Yuan couldn’t move, she could only look helplessly at the woman in white.

The woman thought for a while, then curled her index finger to her lips and blew it. A clear whistling sound broke through the air. After a while, a silver light flashed swiftly in the sky and fell in front of the woman in a white robe. When the light dissipated, Er Sheng fixed her eyes on the direction of the silver light and saw a handsome young man in a blue robe—the young man grinned and saluted the woman in white: “Aunt Master Ji Ling1, I waited until you tell me to do something! Let’s just say, no matter what, Chen Zhu will do it well while risking all his life!”

Ji Ling pointed to Chang Yuan: “Go and help that person up and let’s leave here quickly.”

As soon as the young man turned around, he first catches sight of the wreckage on the ground and was startled, then his eyes swept over Er Sheng, who was in a state of embarrassment, and finally his eyes landed on Chang Yuan with a bitter face: “Aunt Master, you are the one who asked me to come here— why is it a stupid physical work again? When will I be able to make great contributions to Wufang Mountain?”

“Will you help or not?”

“Help, help, help.” The young man saw Ji Ling’s cold face and he immediately agreed and ran toward Chang Yuan.

Er Sheng graciously helped Chang Yuan to sit up halfway: “Thank you Little Daoist Master, please help us here.” However, when Chen Zhu ran to Chang Yuan, he suddenly stopped, Er Sheng was surprised, “Little Daoist Master?”

Chen Zhu heard the call and took two steps back.

Ji Ling frowned: “Chen Zhu?”

“Hey—” He replied in a low voice, and hesitantly took a few steps towards Chang Yuan. When he caught the look from Chang Yuan, his legs suddenly softened a little bit. He didn’t know why he felt like running away. This person— this person’s aura was so terrifying.

When Chen Zhu heard Ji Ling’s inquiring voice, he had no choice but to slap his heart hard and walked up. When he touched Chang Yuan’s body, he couldn’t help trembling a little as if he had touched something that shouldn’t be touched.

Er Sheng didn’t know the pain in Chen Zhu’s heart. Seeing that someone helped, she was overjoyed: “Aunt Daoist Immortal, let’s go.”

Ji Ling nodded: “I’ll take you to the town first.”
