A heavy wind blew in through the window, the curtains flew up and Veronica jumped as the heavy pitter patter sound started "is it the rain?" She asked.

Samuel finally looked away from the television as the heavy wind disconnected the signal "it sure is."

"Is Jason still outside?" She asked.

Samuel furrowed his brows "I hope not. He do know how his body reacts to rainfall."

"Did you see him pass us?"

"I can't tell."

Veronica shook her head and rolled her eyes at him before standing up and walking to the window. She closed it and that got the flying curtains to settle before she opened the door forcefully because she has to fight for the upper hand with the wind "Jason? Honey you out there?"

When she got no response, she closed the door and bolted it "I think he has come in."

"Oh" was all Samuel did as he reached for his can beer that is always at least, a meter away from him when he is watching the games.

Veronica stared at him and shook her head again "I'm going up to check on Anna. You know how she is, she hardly close her windows and no amount of rain that come in will she wake up."

"Oh, okay" he answered as he sipped from his beer, causing Veronica to roll her eyes once again before climbing up the stairs. She got to Anna's room and opened the door but the first thing that greeted her was the wind blowing in through the open window.

"Anna, how many times will I tell you to always close your window?" She sighed and made her way to close the window. She turned to look at the lump on the bed and smiled "you really took after your father didn't you? You guys are not waking up no matter what" she walked closer to her bed to kiss her head again but when she touched the lump on the bed, her brows creased, it was way to soft for a human body. She tucked away the blanket and found out that she was right.

She frowned as she stared at the pillows and then her heart missed a beat as she looked at the now closed window. Guessing what could have happened, she ran out of her room to Jason's. She threw away all etiquette and barged into the room and just as she expected, the bed was empty. Her heart was already in her throat as she ran to the stairs.

"Sam, Sam" she keep screaming as she ran. Samuel dropped his beer on the table before rushing to the stairs in time to see her rushing down.

"Careful Vero or you are going to hurt yourself" he cautioned as she ran into his arm, she was panting as she pointed up the stairs course she couldn't say anything again "what is it? Why are you like this?"

"The kids...the kids" she breathed out.

"What Vero, what happened to our kids?" Samuel frowned.

"They are not in their rooms, Sam, they are not in their rooms" she was already battling with the tears.

"What do you mean they are not in their rooms?"

"Will you stop repeating everything I say?" She shouted, she looked so frantic.

"Okay, okay, calm down. Calm down love. There is only only one possible place they can go. Jason never rejects Anna anything and we just made him do that. I'm pretty sure he went to the school and might have taken Anna with him."

"But why will he do that? It's raining so heavily " she sniffed.

Samuel smiled and wiped away her tears "come on, now where is that tough woman that talks to anybody she wants to and wins any case she handles. When did you suddenly become the crybaby?"

Veronica looked up at him and sniffed as she chuckled through her tears "it's my children we are talking about here."

Samuel smiled "I know, and they are fine. I will just call Jason to know where they are" he pulled her into his arms and pat her head "they are fine okay?"

She nodded in his arms and sniffed again "I just hope they find a place to stay. Jason will really get sick if he happens to be in the rain."

"Let me call him" he released her from his arms and walked to the table to pick up his phone. He searched for Jason's number and immediately dialed it but the line didn't connect. It was switched off.

"Did he answer?" Veronica asked as she slowly made her way to him.

"Not yet. It's not connecting, maybe it's the network" he reached his hand to her and she took it "I'm pretty sure they are waiting it out somewhere. You don't need to worry too much" he helped her sit beside him on the sofa while he caress her hair "they will be fine."

Veronica sat on the sofa while resting her head on his chest, she sighed. Yes they are fine, Jason won't let anything happen to them, she knows that.

Anna felt like her tummy is on fire, she tried pushing the feeling away to continue with her sleep but the burning just keep increasing. At the end, she couldn't take it anymore and opened her eyes. Her mind was blurry as she tried to remember where she was. The burning feeling in her tummy stopped the thought as she looked down but only to see a strong arm hugging her, without thinking, she knew who it belongs to.

She reached down her hand to caress the hand but then it burned her fingers, she furrowed her brows as she touched him again but his hand was burning. She turned to face him, his brows were furrowed, his breathing was hot and heavy, his lips were pale and peeling. There were visible sweats on his face and he looked like he is in pain.

Her hand reached to touch his forehead and it was burning, she jumped up immediately "oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no" she whispered as she sat up and grabbed his head and placed on her laps, it burned her but she doesn't care anymore, he has fever, courtesy of the rain.

"Jason" she called softly and his brows tightened, she tucked her hair that was touching his face behind her ear "Jason, can you hear me?" When she didn't get an answer, she became frantic, what is she to do, what is she to do? She looked around and only remembered they were still in the church. She let his head rest on the curtain and she rushed to open the big door. It was still dark outside but the rain has stopped.

She rushed back to him again and didn't know exactly what to do, she touched her clothes and marveled that it was still wet. She folded her top and placed on his forehead. After a while, she used it to start cleaning his body but the top turned hot a while later. She bit her lower lip and think of what next to do, his fever hasn't come down. She rushed outside again and searched around, lucky enough, she found a big bowl that seemed to have collected the rain water.

Without thinking, she dipped the top inside and squeezed when she brought it before rushing inside again to place it on Jason. She repeated the action for a long while until his fever came down. She heaved a sigh of relief before rushing out the last time to dipped the top again inside the bowl. She was already sweating due to running to and fro. She placed the top on Jason forehead again, his tightened brows has already relaxed and he was breathing normally now, only that his face was still pale.

She lay behind him and wrapped her right hand around him, she pushed herself closer that air couldn't penetrate. She also placed her leg on top his, she placed his head on her left arm while using her fingers to hold the cloth to his forehead. His body was warm now and he seemed to relax more after being wrapped in her embrace.

She sighed and thanked her stars that she was able to put down the fever, now her prayer is for dawn to come so that they can go home and for him to take some medication. She wrapped him in his arms to look after him but she ended up drifting to sleep without her knowing.

Anna felt something tickling her brows and she couldn't help but furrow it. She heard a muffled chuckle and frowned. The tickling came again and she groaned, this time she heard a stifled laughter and couldn't help but open her eyes. She stared deeply at a pair of amused blue eyes, she wanted to complain but then remembering his fever, she jumped up to feel his forehead.

He just lay there staring at her with a sweet smile and letting her feel his temperature. Anna sighed when she noticed that his body was just warm. She looked into his eyes and she could see that his smile reached there, his smile and something else, something she couldn't name.
