Chapter 62 - THE STRANGE SILHOUETTE IN THE MIST

NOTE:

NOT A CHAPTER!!! NOT A CHAPTER!!! NOT A CHAPTER!!!

This time, Aiden could barely see past his nose.

"Great, just great!!!! Now I will have no choice but to fumble my way out of this darned place. Haist!"

And so he did just like that. He started shuffling towards the direction of the cemetery gates.

Everything was doing well until his toe connected with the stone base of a tombstone

"AWWWWW!!!!"

Aiden inhaled sharply as intense pain shot through his foot.

"Fudge! Fudge!! Fudge!!! Fudge!!!! FUUUDDGGEEE!!! MOTHER TRUCKING FUDGE CAKES!!!!"

He gasped in pain

Spinning around on one foot, the poor little Aiden reached out for the nearest headstone and rested against it.

At this time, he could only hope that his toe was not broken. Or else, that broken foot would be the proverbial cherry on top of his fudge cake.

Rubbing his toe in hopes to relieve the pain, Aiden turned to lift his head up and what he sees next cause his stomach to dropped.

Because there he saw, amidst the thick fog and white mist a dark silhouette walking closer towards him!!!

Its solidness gradually bled through the fog. Strange enough, the temperature around him also started to fell sharply and all the hairs on the back of his neck started to stand on its end!!!

"Oh geez... Let him be some drunkard taking a short cut on his way home.."

Aiden tried to strain his eyes to see through the white mist.

"Sir, are you okay???"

A calm and polite voice of an elderly woman emerged from the fog.

Aiden could not see the other party clearly but he guesses that she either might be a caretaker from the nearby church or the wife of some graveyard keeper.

"Hello ma'am, I am sorry to trouble you. But I can't find my way out of this place.

"Ahhhh.."

The elderly said as she draws closer to Aiden.

"These night fogs can be quite disorienting. Here, take my arm and I will lead the way."

"Thank you.."

Aiden said politely as he takes the other party's arm before he added quickly,

"My friend is waiting for me at the gate.."

Well, of course, he still can't rule out the possibility that this old lady is a disguise, but in reality, she was a creeper too.

So he must be vigilant and play his cards well.

Better safe than sorry.

The two started moving through the thick fog and after some time, Aiden can't help but notice how cold and damp the other party's arm was.

The sleeve of her sweater felt like she had been standing out in the rain for a couple of hours already.

But if his memory is not failing him yet, Aiden did not recall any rain or even a drizzle that night.

"Are you a caretaker of this place???"

He started a conversation as he plans to sound her out.

"In a way, yes... I have been watching over this place for the past three hundred years.

"T-th- THREE HUNDRED YEARS?!!!!"

Aiden cried out as he can't stop himself from stuttering due to his bewilderment.

He wanted to confirm to the other party if that is what she really said or if he just heard it wrongly.

"Yeah, although I spend most of my time sleeping underground"

"Sleeping underground... Well, Uhmmm... I think I can find my way out from here. HEHE..."

Aiden forces a smile despite how creep out he was already deep inside him.

He tried to pry his hand away from the other party but the elderly lady had no plans of letting him go that easy.

"Oh no, my dear. The ceremony is about to start and you are the guest of honor."

When Aiden heard that, he instantly let go of the other party's arm and he started to back away from the senile old lady.

"Sorry, but I got other plans. Maybe we could do this some other time."

"NO!!!"

The other party cried and grab hold of Aiden's arms

"You must come with me..."

"I'm sorry, I really can't."

Aiden replied as he tried to tug himself away from the elderly lady.

"It is too late to go back now..'

"Okay, you are now scaring me so I gonna go."

"You can't,"

The other party sigh before continuing

"The curse is upon you, my dear. There is no way of escaping it now."

For the first time, Aiden looked down at the other party's finger which was wrapped tightly around his wrist.

"Hey! What's wrong with your arm??? The skin, its gray!!!"

"It is death."

Aiden thought that the other party was kidding him.

Maybe this was a prank??

Yeah, that must be the case...

Those darn frat boys must be behind all of this sick joke!

But as Aiden looked at the other party's skin, he saw something underneath it move!

He let out a gasped and staggered backward.

What's wrong with you?!! What is wrong with your skin?!!!!'

Aiden exclaimed as he was already literally freaking out this time.

He finally realized what was wrong with the other party.

He was a corpse!

Aiden stared at the other party standing before him in a surreal state of shock.

His lower jaw nearly fell to the ground from shock and he widened his mouth so wide that it almost seemed as if he was a fish that had fallen onshore

It was only at that time that realization suddenly dawned on him.

The urban legend was true!!!!

He shook his head  as he said stuttering,

'I--I--I m-made a mistake... I h- ha- had no i-idea. I thought it was----

"A legend?? A fiction story inspired by web novel?"

The other party who was apparently a corpse queried as she finished Aiden's statement.

"YES!"

Aiden nodded his head desperately as he hopes that the other party would understand his predicament and will just let him go.

"Sorry, my child. But by standing there in that groom's attire waiting for her Highness, you have already acted out your vows."

The old lady replied with a sullen look.

"Are you the Queen of Darkness???"

"Are you deaf? I just mentioned 'Her Highness' so obviously that is not me. TSS. I am the priestess from the River of Styx and I shall be ordaining your wedding tonight."

"Wedding??!!! What do you mean??!!! Wait!!! Let me go!!! Hey!!!!

Aiden tried to protest and wrestle free but the other party had a tight grip on his arm

"Come, sir. Your wife awaits you."

The other party said as she takes Aiden's arm and started tugging him up towards the aisle.

The priestess literally dragged Aiden down the aisle as Aiden keeps on wrestling free away from her.

He was kicking and screaming to the best of his ability.

"If I will going to die tonight, I will make it sure that that I will not go without a fight! There is no way I will going to give up and submissively resigned myself to death!!!"

Aiden shouted at the top of his lungs as if he was declaring his vow.

He decisively decided to himself that no matter what happened, he would fight this corpse priestess and her highness until his very last breath!

He will never marry that hell of the Darkness Queen, by hook or by crook!!!!

So with the priestess' decomposing grasp, Aiden twisted and twirled as he fights every step of his way.

But the zombie priestess is no pushover either.

In fact, she was actually way far stronger than how she looked like. Aiden wrestles up with her as they made their way towards the altar but to no avail.

Aiden also realizes that for some unknown reason, a disapproving wave of hushed whispers also started to resurface in the surroundings.

This hushed whisper continues to ripple within the congregation as the priestess finally pulled Aiden under the arch of dead roses that stood at the end of the aisle.

"I AM NOT GETTING MARRIED!!!!"

Aiden yelled in defiance as he looked at priestess as well as the crowd who will apparently serve as their 'wedding guest'

The priestess yanked hard on Aiden's wrist and snapped at him,

"Stop whining child! Your future wife will be here any moment and she will not want it seeing her groom acting up."

To hell with that freaking future wife!!!

Who cares what she wants and what she will not want???

NOT ME!

"No! This is shotgun marriage!!! You cannot force someone into getting married!! This is a free country!!! This is no old dynasties!!! This is against the law!!! You cannot do this to me..This is against human rights!!!!"

"To hell with your useless laws and darn human rights"

Aiden glance nervously backs down the aisle and saw nothing. The crowd would also occasionally turn their head from time to time, hoping to get a glimpse of the bride

Aiden wondered what kind of rancid creature his bride would be like. What if the priestess beside him turned out to be the Queen of Darkness' beautiful sister???

What if the Queen of Darkness is a corpse as well?!!

Waves of nausea rope up and began pounding against Aiden's stomach

His head had been waving a million worse scenarios to his mind which only makes him feel sicker than he already was
