Sour Apple

Chapter 24

Next day.

‘I have a problem,’ Sai thought as he was trying to manipulate the Mountain Frog Poison with his mana. ‘It seems I can’t stop working.’

Sai continues to reshape the poison into various shapes. The pinkish poison would form into a sphere, then into a cube, then morph into a stake. He would shape the poison again and again. Sai continually exhausted his mana, flexed his willpower and pushed his imagination.

Sai would run out of mana. He would rest and then practice more.

His hands couldn’t stay idle. ‘Am I a workaholic?’ Sai thought. ‘This isn’t even fun.’

Sai and Rowana were traveling toward LavendarSprings City in the coach wagon pulled by the horses named Bart and Lisa. They were surrounded by forest that had so many trees they couldn’t see the horizon.

Sai practiced his Poison Magic Art. When he was too tired to practice he would watch the road and then his eyes darted to the forest, watching as the scenery passed him.

Sai spotted another dead Horned Dog. Sometimes the Horned Dog corpses were blocking the road, so Sai had to pull them to the side.

Horned Dogs corpses were a common sight. Occasionally human corpses would be spotted.

It became clear the farther they were heading from the capital the more dangerous the road was becoming.

Sai sighed and said. “Blessing.”

Rowana steered the coach wagon to the side of the road.

Rowana tapped his shoulder. “Be silent for a minute,” She said in a serious tone. “Slither please make us invisible.”

Slither poked his head out of the Kibisis. As the light distorted, Slither used his magic to make Sai, Rowana, the pair of horses and the Coach Wagon invisible.

Minutes passed as Sai and Rowana waited in silence.

Clop. Clop. Clop. Clop.

A contingent of knights on horseback passed by Sai and Rowana’s Coach Wagon. The knights luckily didn't detect Slither cloaking.

‘Royal Knights?’ Sai was very familiar with the Sapphire Principality army structure. Only the Royal Knights were level 20. Normal guards were level 10 or under. They didn’t stay in any of the palaces but in the private knight facilities.

The Royal Knights continued to ride their horses farther and farther away. Sai couldn’t spot the knight anymore.

The invisibility dropped and Rowana urged the horses to move.

“We need to be careful not to be detented,” Rowana said.

Sai could only nod in agreement. He didn’t want to lose his freedom.
