Sovereign of the Firmaments

Chapter 64: Talent Evaluation Ceremony

In front of the adventurer's guild, there were many people standing and looking at the small magical stage constructed by the guild for the sake of the 'Talent Evaluation Ceremony'.

"Everyone, currently, the guild master is away on some kind of mission. So, please calm down and wait until he comes back before complaining about the mages guild's improper dungeon run."

Manager Carl shouted at the crowd who were seething with anger towards the mages guild.

"What?"

"How can he not be here at a time like this?"

"The mages guild not only made the participants kill each other but even opened an evil portal."

The guild leaders and the family heads shouted back at Manager Carl as though they were not going to leave that matter until the mages guild is severely punished for what they had done.

"Before that, let's finish the talent evaluation ceremony in the presence of the Aerilon firmament's adventurer's guild master."

However, Manager Carl didn't bother with those words as he said a few more words even more loudly than before, making the entire crowd fall silent.

'What?'

'The adventurer's guild master from the Aerilon firmament?'

'Why would he come to the last ranked firmament?'

Soon, everyone forgot about the mages guild as they looked at the middle-aged man behind the four managers of the adventurer's guild.

Aerilon firmament is ranked sixth among the nine firmaments and of course, everyone was surprised for the reason why would such a powerful expert come to that last ranked firmament.

"Haha"

The middle-aged man walked forward as he laughed out loud before saying, "I came to this firmament on a small mission and I completed it ahead of time. Just when I was about to leave this firmament, I got to know this branch's master was on a mission and I came to look over the ceremony."

"I hope all the kids show good talents in various professions. Also, if anyone shows some high-level talents in any profession, I will be giving out some rewards to encourage them."

The middle-aged man looked polite even though he was a Higher Knight, making everyone excited a little.

As for the mages guild, they could always find trouble for it after today. Right now, they were only hoping their 10-year old kids show good talent to get rewards from the Higher Knight.

"Everyone, why don't you thank Sir Tyler before we start the ceremony."

Manager Carl heaved a sigh of relief when he saw the situation was under control and started the ceremony.

'Looks like the Mages guild will survive tonight.'

Among the crowd, Lucas silently muttered to himself when he saw the crowd get distracted by the so-called Sir Tyler.

"Everyone, come onto the stage one by one and get your talent evaluated."

Soon, Manager Rean walked onto the stage as he called the children onto the stage.

In the next second, a 10-year-old boy wearing the weapons pavilion's clothes walked onto the stage with a proud look on his face.

"Place your hands on the crystal."

Manager Rean asked the boy to place his hands on the small crystal ball in the center of the stage.

'Swoosh'

As soon as he placed his hands, the crystal ball started glowing with orange light for a moment before turning into a red colour.

At the same time, there was a sword and a hammer icon appeared in the crystal ball.

"Bret from weapons pavilion awakened an Earl-level weapon refining talent and Knight talent."

Soon, Manager Rean's words resounded in the entire surroundings because the entire crowd was silent when they saw the red colour in the crystal ball.

"Haha...finally a good seedling has appeared in our weapons pavilion."

William, the head of the weapons pavilion was so excited as he started laughing and thanked the heavens.

"Good kid."

Sir Tyler nodded his head with a slight smile on his face; however, he didn't give any reward. Obviously, in his eyes, that is not considered as a high-level talent to reward the kid.

"Nex."

As for Manager Rean, he called the next participant.

"Hank from the Windcrusher family has a Baron-level talent in alchemy and Wind magic."

"Casey from the Grayeye family has a Viscount-level talent in 'Way of assassins'."

.

.

"Austin from the Honorwolf family has a Marquis level talent in Beast magic."

Manager Rean continued to check the talent of one kid after another and within a short span of five minutes, he checked more than a double dozen kids from various families.

Among them, most of them got Peasant level talent and basically became useless after tonight.

However, there were some who showed good talents like Austin, Casey and Hank.

Among them, Austin received praise from Sir Tyler and at the same time, he also got a small pendant that could help the wearer's body to attract the affinity magic elements in the nature around them.

"Looks like I will be making use of the Honorworlf family's debt of saving Luna."

After safely bringing Luna out of the dungeon, Lucas had successfully completed the system's mission and as a reward, he could form an alliance with the Honorwolf family.

However, after seeing the attitude of Luna's sister in the morning, Lucas felt he would only go to the Honorwolf family if there was something he needed from them.

"Brother, I am getting a little scared."

Soon, Lucas came out of his thoughts when Evan clutched his hand tightly.

"Don't worry, you will not be tested in the open like everyone else."

Lucas knew why Evan was worried more than what he used to worry, back at home. So, with a slight smile on his face.

"Really?"

Evan's worry decreased a little; however, there was still some worry left on his face regarding what kind of evaluation he would get.

"Heath from the Grayeye family awakened a Duke-level talent in 'Dark magic'."

All of a sudden, Manager Rean's words resounded in the entire surroundings, making everyone who was whispering to each other silent for a moment.

'What? Duke-level talent?'

'What's more, it is in the rare Dark magic. In the future, that kid could become a dark mage and could shake the entire firmament.'

.

.

Everyone was already surprised with the Marquis and Visoun-level talents from the kid and with the latest talent evaluation, they were shocked to the core and looked at Heath as though he would become a monster in the future.

"Kid, do you want to become my tenth student?"

As everyone was in shock, Sir Tyler who stayed silent until now walked towards Heath and with a slight smile on his face, he asked him.

"I accept, Sir Tyler."

When he was walking onto the stage, Heath was a little arrogant just for being the descendent of the Grayeye family and after his talent was evaluated to be a Duke-level in the dark magic, he revealed a proudful look on his face.

However, while accepting Sir Tyler's offer, he was polite as he didn't want such an offer to leave him just because he was arrogant.

"Good."

Nodding his head, Sir Tyler continued speaking, "For now, you can go back to your family and enjoy for the next three days. I will bring you to Aerilon firmament with me."

"Okay, Sir."

Heath nodded his head politely before walking down the stage and as soon as he walked down, he went back to his usual proudful look on his face.

'With this, the Grayeye family will become even more arrogant.'

Seeing that, everyone had the same thought in their heads.

Since one of their descendants is now a student of the Higher Knight and the guild master of the adventurer's guild in a sixth-ranked firmament, they would become even more arrogant.

'Sigh...if Sir Tyler was not here, we would have pulled him into our guild.'

All the guild masters were disappointed when they saw how Sir Tyler just took away such a highly talented kid right under their noses.

As for fighting against Sir Tyler for a kid, who would not come to their guild after becoming the student of a higher knight, the guild masters shook their heads and thought that it was just their bad luck.

"How many children are left?"

After unexpectedly getting a highly talented student, Sir Tyler was looking forward to anyone who could surprise him. So, he asked Manager Rean about it.

"Still, there are a dozen children left, Sir Tyler."

Manager Rean saw the scroll in his hands and politely replied to Sir Tyler.

"Okay. Continue."

Nodding his head, Sir Tyler went back to his seat as he checked the kids that were walking onto the stages.

However, his luck was already over with the appearance of a kid with Duke-level talent and stopped thinking about it.

"Everyone, that's the end of the ceremony."

Soon, Manager Rean concluded the ceremony and looked at Lucas for a moment before signalling him to wait.

"Everyone, thank you for visiting."

At the same time, the remaining managers walked onto the stage as they thanked everyone.

"Hey, honest guy, haven't you brought your little brother to evaluate his talent? Why didn't you have him tested?"

Just as everyone was dispersing, someone recognized Lucas from the morning and curiously asked.

"Huh?"

Sir Tyler stopped in his tracks as he looked at the source of the voice and said, "Young man, is he telling the truth?"

"No, Sir Tyler. I brought my brother to let him see the ceremony for the next year."

Lucas cursed the one who pointed him out; however, he hurriedly replied to Tyler in a polite tone.

"Stop lying. His bone age is right for the talent evaluation."

However, how could Sir Tyler not know that Lucas was lying when he already checked out Evan's bone age with a look.

Since Sir Tyler is a Higher Knight, he was capable of checking the bone age of anyone because that's the important requirement of a guild master of an adventurer's guild.

So that, they could pick the young and talented adventurers for their guild.

"Th..this.."

Lucas didn't know what he had to do and just then, he heard a voice in his head, 'Just let your brother enter the stage. If that higher knight becomes angry, no one could save you or your brother.'

Lucas hurriedly checked his surroundings and saw the familiar faces and they were none other than the knight who helped him in the inn and a young purple-robed mage beside him.

"Okay."

Even though he didn't like it, Lucas gritted his teeth before nodding his head and saying to Evan, "Little brother, let's go and test your talent. I will be right next to you."

"Okay, brother."

Evan nodded his head as he could feel his current situation as he walked onto the stage along with Lucas.
