81 Bills

"What?" Adam retorted, standing up straight.

Vixen eyed him up and down and covered his face with one hand, "Haha… please tell me I've gone deaf…"

"W-what?" Adam repeated.

"..Haha.. I swear that didn't just come out of his mouth…" Vixen chuckled hysterically, before glaring at Adam through a space between his fingers, "because if it did… I'll be damn glad I sent the girl away."

"Shut up! All bark and no bite. All you know how to do is threaten and threaten. Do you think you're special that everything about you must be kept a secret? What are you some god?" Adam snapped back.

"You should've stayed as a journalist before deciding to hurt that little girl. You're great at poking your nose in places they don't belong," Vixen spat.

"SHUT UP! WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT ME?!" Adam yelled, approaching Vixen slowly.

"Look around, this is my home which you have been getting the pleasure of living in all this time…" Vixen smirked, "everyone who walks in and out of those gates I know of. I can bring their worlds plummeting to the ground with just one word and yet I don't go around selling their information for a few dollars."

"W-what do you know? DO YOU KNOW WHY I DO THIS? YET YOU THINK YOU CAN OPENINGLY CRITICIZE ME?" Adam screamed, wildly pointing fingers at Vixen.

"Haha.. how cute," Vixen chuckled, running his hand through his black hair, "who do you think paid those medical bills?"

"W-what…" Adam stuttered.

"Don't tell me you actually thought those sad amounts of money you sent out every week actually got to the hospital?" Vixen giggled, "that's adorable."

"What are you talking about? Hospital bills?" Adam stuttered.

Vixen rolled his eyes impatiently, "don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about. It makes you look more pathetic." Vixen stared at Adam, cocking his head slightly as he eyed Adam's trembling a slight smile tugging at the edges of his lips. "Don't worry, she's ok. The paid medical bills make sure that she is."

"You're sick. You're a demon. Are you blackmailing me? Using my mother's life as the wager? Who does that?" Adam grabbed Vixen by the collar, furiously shaking him, "WHO IS SO FU*KED UP THAT THEY USE SOMEONE ELSE'S LIFE AS SOME CHESS PIECE?!"

"Who sells information on someone else to make money on them and makes vulnerable people feel like they have a shot at someone who would never look their way otherwise by feeding them false ideas? Then looks away after they get their heart crushed? Don't be a hypocrite Adam, you're doing the same thing but just on a smaller level," Vixen smirked, "I didn't I say to watch your tone and keep those filthy hands off me?"

"You.. FU*KING [email protected]!!" Adam screamed, his hands clenching into a fist and raising it over his head and in a rush of fury, brought his fist down on Vixen.

THUD

"If you're going to hit me, at least put some effort in it," Vixen growled.

"SHUT UP YOU A- OFUMPH" Adam began, his words cut off by a boulder like object slamming into his stomach. He looked down at his stomach, using most of his strength to keep his eyes from rolling into the back of their sockets.

He stumbled backwards, pressing down on his left foot to keep himself from stumbling backwards and slamming his back into the wall behind him.

Vixen eyed him, "ugh… I hate staining my hand hitting something that isn't even worth getting mad at. Kinda makes me pathetic too when I hit someone like you right?"

"W-What is your issue? WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS TODAY?!" Adam snapped, "You've always been dismissive and I have learned to get used to it, but this is just completely sick. You're an actual monster at this point. I'm sick of putting up with all the shit that you do just because we're co-workers. You're just so toxic. You demean people at your will, make them feel useless when they do the same to you, and then mentally wear down the person.I don't know what excuse you have, but at this point, it's not going to work YOU'RE BLACKMAILING SOMEONE'S MOTHER! And that's the sickest thing someone could do."

"If you're done condemning me, please stand up correctly and look up taller so I don't feel bad when I look at you," Vixen sneered, "by the way… it seems you don't hear well. I never said I was blackmailing her, I just said her bills and life was kinda in our control. Who said I was going to use that against you."

"You bast-" Adam began, his words caught off by a Vixen's hand grabbing on to his jaw forcibly.

Vixen stared into Adam's eyes, slowly pushing him into the wall behind him while he kept a smile on his face. "Sometimes you make me feel like washing out your mouth with soap because your words need a bit of polishing. But then again, that's just my opinion, but you might want to listen to it this time."

"Whuf now? Anufher blaukmail?" Adam growled.

Vixen paused for a moment and cocked his head before shrugging. He shoved Adam aside, throwing him to the floor. "We can call it that. But let's just say, I'd hate to bring it up again but honestly them hospital bills are being paid based on your behavior. So every movement you made, every word you said, your work and your attitude towards were watched and then decided if they were acceptable enough to get those bills paid that month.

"W-what?" Adam coughed, slowly inching away from the blurry figure of Vixen approaching his through his teary eyes.

"So I'm saying.. If you want to let your mum stay in that VIP hospital room, you better be on your best behavior," Vixen smiled, squatting down in front of Adam and grabbing his chin. He turned it up to the ceiling where a security camera was held. Vixen looked up to the camera with a forced smile, "right pops?"
