Spoken Lies And Broken Ties

Men dressed in expensive suits and women dressed in designer gowns could be seen entering the venue and posing for the paparazzi. Of course, the paparazzi have gathered here because all the important people in the city are going to be present for this party today. It looks no less than a red-carpet event that has been organized here.

A luxurious Limo just entered the venue and the guards rushed to open the doors for them. Not surprisingly Mr. and Mrs. Thomas step out of their car while the guards held the door for them. Reaching towards the hall, they posed for the camera with Mr. Thomas's one hand on his wife's waist and the other one in his pocket. The riches scream out of everything.

While Mr. and Mrs. Thomas was busy posing, the entire hall was busy gossiping about their dear daughter Rebecca Thomas. Everybody was eager to know if she would be coming to this party. The media was itching to capture her moments on their camera for breaking news, after all, nobody has seen her after her return to New York. The way she suddenly vanished from sight is still a mystery to everyone. It was the talk of the town if Rebecca was avoiding public appearance and if yes then what could be the reason behind that. Everybody pondered their own theories of her absence.

Next Mr. and Mrs. Kercher arrived in another luxurious Limo and guards rushed to their side. They too entered the hall after posing for the camera. Not long after, the infamous Mark Kercher arrived at the venue. When his car was entering inside the hotel; everybody's eyes were locked on it wondering who he would have brought as his date today. Many were assuming it to be his rumored girlfriend Tia and others presumed her to be a supermodel.

When he stepped out of his car, he took everyone by surprise. Where people were expecting a supermodel by his side, he stepped out all alone. All the camera flashed towards him and all the ladies had their eyes on him. It was like once in a lifetime moment for them, spotting Mark Kercher going to party all alone isn't something you will find every day. The ladies saw it as an opportunity to make their move on him and score a night with him. If they turn out to be lucky, they can have more than a night.

People could be seen moving around the hall mingling with each other. Kate Cruze and Jim Tacker made quite an entry posing for the camera as much in love couple. Everybody seemed to be gossiping about how the two childhood friends started dating each other not long ago. It was proved that no matter who is concerned these people have to poke their noses in everybody's business and then gossip it away to others. Even though they belonged to some of the esteem families of New York city still their habit of talking behind other's back is no different.

The men of Thomas and Kercher's family were enjoying their drinks with Mr. Hudson and other businessmen present here whereas the women were busy flaunting their dresses. Mark too joined his dad for the drinks and the business talk. All the ladies of the party had their eyes on his every movement but he seemed to have eyes for someone else. His eyes were roaming around the hall looking for someone. After excusing himself from the group of men he joined his mother and Mrs. Thomas.

"Mom you look hot and Aunt Mia all guys are crushing over you in this dress." he complimented the ladies. Mrs. Thomas blushed on the remark while his mother smirked at his compliment.

"Didn't get any girl to flatter with your compliments, son" she teased him knowing he didn't bring a date along.

"I don't need them when I know I have two hot ladies with me" he was quick to answer.

"Anyway, Aunt Mia you didn't bring Miss Boring along with you? Will that boring soul ever step out of her house?" he laughed. Boring huh! She was anything but boring to him, in fact, this new version of her has all his attention. He made it seem like it hardly mattered to him if Rebecca came to the party when internally he was desperate to see her.

"No, Mark, she didn't come with us but hopefully she will come soon," Mrs. Thomas told Mark.

He was quite disheartened when he heard she didn't come. He almost considered going back home. He had initially refused to attend the party but came when he got the news that she was coming. He was here just to meet her and that's why he brought no date with him. Just when Mrs. Thomas that she could come soon, his face instantly lights up and hope could be seen in his eyes. Hoping to see her soon he started to wait for her to arrive. Even though he thinks his desperation didn't show, it was written all over her face that he was wishing that she arrives soon.

Moving around the hall, every few seconds his eyes would linger on the gate hoping to catch a glimpse of her.

"Looks like the lovebirds are too busy to notice anyone," Mark said as he approached Kate and Jim who were enjoying their lovely evening together. Kate said her greetings to Mark and Jim and Mark have one of those brief man hugs. They all were best friends in childhood but now they were a little hesitant greeting each other. They really have drifted apart in these three years. Kate and Jim gradually lost contact with Mark after Rebecca left for Miami. Since then all they are having small encounters at parties.

Mark roamed all over the hall greeting and mingling with people. But that was a misunderstanding everybody seemed to have in the hall. In reality, he was frantically moving around the hall hoping to find her if he had somehow missed her entering the hall.
