Chapter 13.1

Ch13.1 - Birthday

Jun Jingxing thought that his identity as a genius doctor was just a cover. It wasn’t until they ate dinner that he realized this Little Young Master really wasn’t in good health.

Sui Yan held onto a bowl of sweet soup, furrowing his brows as he sipped it. His expression made it look like he was drinking poison rather than sweet soup.

As Haitang arranged the dishes, he said, “The medicine for the prescription that Imperial Physician Meng left a few days ago will be delivered this evening. Young Master should be sure to take it.”

Sui Yan’s face turned green when he heard this, “How long will I be taking it?”

Haitang thought for a bit and answered, “Until after the New Year.”

Sui Yan didn’t even want to drink his medicinal cuisine now.

Jun Jingxing frowned beside him. He looked at the sweet porridge in Sui Yan’s bowl and couldn’t help but ask, “You have to cook your medicine into sweet porridge and take it as medicinal cuisine?”

Sui Yan had been coaxed by Haitang into taking another sip of his medicine, and he didn’t want to talk.

Haitang responded familiarly, “Yeah, if it’s just the medicine, Young Master can’t even swallow it, so it can only be made into sweet soup.”

Jun Jingxing was shocked, “Then how long will it take for him to get better?”

Haitang also felt that this method wouldn’t work, but there wasn’t anything he could do, so he had no choice but to laugh.

Sui Yan curled his lips. Feeling bored, he untied the large cloak that he was wearing and threw it aside. Then, he took a small bottle from a small cabinet and began to untie his shirt lapels.

Jun Jingxing, “……”

Jun Jingxing was horrified, and he shouted, “What are you doing?!”

Sui Yan paused his unbuttoning to stare at Jun Jingxing in disbelief, his expression even more horrified.

“Aren’t you a physician?” Sui Yan asked, “You know how to apply medicine, right?”

Amid his confusion, Jun Jingxing saw Sui Yan remove the clothes from his upper body, grab a pillow, and lay on the couch. He patted the bedside table and ordered, “Come here.”

Jun Jingxing was so angry that his ears rang, and he felt dizzy. He took a deep breath before he noticed the red wounds on Sui Yan’s back.

Only then did Jun Jingxing relax. He tentatively stepped forward, only to find that the fair back seemed to have been whipped, with three crossing wounds that looked horrible.

Sui Yan laid on the pillow and dully said, “Be careful. I’m afraid of pain.”

Jun Jingxing facepalmed.

Sui Yan had sent someone to obtain the small bottle of medicine. When the stopper was opened, a medicinal fragrance filled the air. Jun Jingxing expressionlessly poured out some medicinal powder and gently sprinkled it on the three wounds.

As the powder fell, Sui Yan’s thin body abruptly trembled. He bit the pillow and let out an excruciatingly painful sob, looking extremely pitiful.

Jun Jingxing’s eyes flickered as if he was moved, and then he……

sprinkled it more enthusiastically.

When Jun Jingxing was finished, Sui Yan was in a cold sweat, and he kept gasping. It was clear that he was in a lot of pain.

Jun Jingxing carefully wiped off the medicinal powder on the edges of the wounds with a handkerchief and lightly remarked, “What did you do wrong to be beaten like this? This is too cruel.”

When he heard this, Sui Yan immediately turned his head and glared at Jun Jingxing, “It was because of you! Even now, my brother still thinks that I went to Wanhua Tower that time to have fun. I suffered through this whipping because of you, so what are you gloating over?!”

Jun Jingxing suddenly felt guilty and quickly coaxed, “Alright, alright, alright. It was my fault. I’ll copy books for you tomorrow.”

As soon as his voice fell, he reacted. The two of them hadn’t known each other for very long, so why were they acting so familiarly? It was like they were good friends who had known each other for many years.

Did this Little Young Master act so familiarly with everyone?

Sui Yan continued to lay on the couch as he dejectedly replied, “I won’t trouble you. Tomorrow is the Third Prince’s birthday, so I will probably be out all day. You can live in the side courtyard. If you need anything, just go to Uncle Zhao.”

Jun Jingxing nodded in response before he paused and suddenly asked, “Why……did you save me?”

Sui Yan was sleepy after having lain for so long. “Ah,” he dazedly opened his eyes and vaguely said, “Save……save you? You were the one who saved me.”

Jun Jingxing rubbed his forehead, thinking, This Little Young Master seems to love saying nonsense when he’s sleepy. When he saw how listless Sui Yan was, Jun Jingxing knew he couldn’t get any answers, so he could only say, “It’s nothing, go to sleep.”

Sui Yan answered, “Oh,” lay back down on the soft pillow, and soon fell asleep.

Because of his back injury, he couldn’t lie on his back, so he could only curl up aggrievedly and bury his head in his blankets. There were tears in the corners of his eyes because of the pain.

Jun Jingxing watched him for a long while before he sighed quietly.

“He’s still a child,” he murmured before gently pulling Sui Yan’s untied shirt up and covering him with a blanket. After thinking about it, he put out a charcoal basin and then quietly left.
