Chapter 24.2

Ch24.2 - Boring

The more Sui Yan thought about it, the happier he felt, and he skipped into the front hall of the inner courtyard. Before he entered the door, Li Zhao greeted him with a bitter expression and whispered, “Young Master, you’re finally back. Young Master Song has been waiting here for a long time.”

Sui Yan’s face instantly darkened.

He turned to leave, “Then just tell him I’m not here and that he should leave.”

Li Zhao, “Hey, Young Master……”

Before Sui Yan could take a few steps, a youth dressed in ink robes walked out of the front hall. Song Xian looked at him with a tight smile as he raised his voice, “Little Young Master, we are classmates. Even if you choose a different master, you don’t need to be so indifferent that you won’t see me, right?”

Sui Yan took a deep breath, “I have nothing to say to you guys.”

He was about to leave. Song Xian was so angered by his attitude that he stalked forward, grabbed Sui Yan’s hand, and stopped him as he yelled, “Sui Wanggui! What has the Third Prince ever done to you? Why are you making such a big fuss? Wasn’t it that he didn’t tell you about the thing at the banquet? Are you still a little kid that you would put on such airs over a matter as small as this!?!”

Sui Yan’s wrist hurt from Song Xian’s grip, but he couldn’t break free.

Song Xian, “Say something!”

Sui Yan turned back and looked at him coldly, saying, “A matter as small as this? Would it only be important if I died from the poison?”

Song Xian looked at him in utter shock, “What nonsense are you saying!?! How could we ever harm you?”

In fact, what Song Xian said was right. This was just a trivial matter. If Sui Yan didn’t remember his previous life, he would have let this matter pass by and continued to be the fool who wholeheartedly supported Duan Zhisu.

But he wasn’t.

All of the suffering that Sui Yan had experienced in his previous life was caused by this tiny, trivial matter. He was already strong enough for not mentally collapsing during the banquet. However, Sui Yan could not continue interacting with Duan Zhisu and Song Xian as if nothing had happened.

Song Xian held onto Sui Yan’s slender wrist before finally realizing that Sui Yan was scarily thin. He immediately let go of Sui Yan’s wrist.

Song Xian was originally a rough person who said everything that came to his mind. He acted impulsively and allowed his emotions to affect his decisions. He got angry quickly but calmed down just as quickly. When he saw how unsteady Sui Yan looked, he was stunned before awkwardly explaining, “I……I didn’t mean to. I was only so angry that I lost control of myself, Wanggui……”

Sui Yan laughed coldly.

Song Xian took a deep breath and tried to think rationally, “I heard the Third Prince visited the Sui Manor last night, even though it was snowing heavily. He didn’t return to his residence until late at night. By then, he was already muddleheaded and even developed a high fever this morning……”

Sui Yan rubbed his brows, thinking, What for?

Song Xian saw that Sui Yan was still annoyed and said, “Wanggui, I did not want to get mad at you. I only got exasperated when I heard you say that you went out with the Crown Prince this morning……”

Sui Yan was so angry that he nearly laughed, “Then you’re saying I’m in the wrong for going somewhere with the Crown Prince? What do my matters with the Crown Prince have to do with you? Or are you saying that I, Sui Wanggui, have been branded by the Third Prince like a lowly servant? Do you really have to go so far as to control me over something as small as this?”

It had taken Song Xian a lot of effort to calm down and talk nicely, only to be refuted by Sui Yan. He didn’t know how to coax people, to begin with, and when he heard this, his brows furrowed, “I didn’t say that. Don’t misinterpret what I say.”

Sui Yan replied, “That is what you meant. What did I misinterpret? You even had the face to say I was a little kid. Song Chonghui. Ask yourself, out of the two of us, who is more childish!?!”

Song Xian yelled, “Don’t yell at me! I’m talking with you seriously!”

Sui Yan’s voice was even louder, “You are the one yelling at me!”

He was so angry that he covered his chest and started coughing. Song Xian was about to retort, but when he saw how sickly Sui Yan seemed, he couldn’t bear to, so he could only reluctantly shut his mouth.

Sui Yan coughed so hard that he teared up. He managed to glare at Song Xian as he rasped, “Don’t you know who is yelling at who?”

Song Xian, “Do you still want to quarrel!?!”

Just as Sui Yan was about to speak, he saw something out of the corner of his eyes. He froze for a moment before blinking. As his eyelashes trembled, the tears he had gotten from coughing slid down his pale face.

Song Xian, “…….”

Sui Yan frowned slightly, concealing the arrogant appearance from just now. His voice softened as he clutched his chest, tears streaming down, “If something is wrong, can’t we talk about it nicely? Why do you have to yell at me like this?”

Song Xian, “……”

Song Xian’s brows furrowed, “What nonsense are you spouting? Haven’t I been talking nicely enough? You were the one who started it all. I think you know even more about this than I do. When I told the Third Prince about it, he didn’t believe me, and he’s been covering it up for you this whole time. I don’t know how you made him so muddleheaded……”

Sui Yan cried even harder, “It really wasn’t my fault. Stop bullying me. My chest hurts…..”

Song Xian’s anger instantly dissipated. He paused, confused by how quickly Sui Yan switched his face. He tentatively stepped forward to help him, “Huh? Your chest hurts? I……I’ll help you……”

Sui Yan was still crying.

Just as Song Xian was about to help Sui Yan, an icy voice suddenly sounded behind him.

“Young Master Song doesn’t need to trouble himself.”

Song Xian froze before turning around in shock.

Sui Xun had returned a while ago. Dressed in black hunting robes, with a cape draped over his shoulders, he looked heroic and majestic.

The young masters in the capital weren’t afraid to make all sorts of trouble, but were terrified of General Sui Xun, who had been on countless battlefields since a young age. Everyone who saw him fled as if they were a mouse who had seen a cat.

Song Xian was also afraid of him. Usually, when Sui Xun was home, he was too scared to come to play with Sui Yan.

However, right now, General Sui, who could even scare infants into silence, looked furious. His eyes were cold as he fiercely glared at Song Xian.

Song Xian, “……”

Sui Yan seemed like he had finally found a safe harbor. He rushed over, clinging onto Sui Xun as he sobbed, “Elder-Elder Brother, you finally returned.”

Song Xian murmured, “Gen-General Sui……”

Sui Xun coldly said, “I don’t know what my younger brother did to make Little Young Master so unhappy. Wanggui is too frail, so you can tell me about it.”

His angry expression alone made Song Xian’s legs feel weak. He didn’t dare to tell Sui Xun about the matters between him and Sui Yan, and just silently stood there.

Sui Yan clutched Sui Xun’s waist and whimpered, “Elder Brother, Elder Brother, don’t blame Chonghui. It-It was Sui Yan’s fault……”

As he spoke, he trembled, looking like he had been forced to admit his mistake.

Sui Xun’s expression became even more terrifying.

Song Xian, “……”
