Chapter 61 - The Shabby Temple at the foot of Sword Mountain

Chapter 61 The Shabby Temple at the foot of Sword Mountain

In fact, it should not be easy to reach the top of Menchen Mountain. At least, any swordsman at the second stage should feel bad when he was stabbed by Chao Qingqiu’s sword Qi at the Sword Qi Stage for one million times. Moreover, this Sword Immortal expected that the one who climbed the mountain shouldn’t be a swordsman at the Focus Stage but an ordinary person.

But nobody expected that the sword Qi left by the Sword Immortal would have other intentions after it stayed on Menchen Mountain for ten years. It didn’t want to disappear on the mountaintop so soon, so before Li Fuyao reached the top, the sword Qi which named itself Chao Fengchen went down the mountain freely to enjoy the beautiful scenery in the human world.

Li Fuyao waited one day on the mountain path indeed. Afraid that the sword Qi couldn’t see enough scenery, he specially chose to set out at dusk, and this time, he didn’t climb the mountain quickly, so that he could give Chao Fengchen enough time to enjoy the view that it hadn’t seen.

When Li Fuyao reached the top of Menchen Mountain, it was getting dark. He walked forward along the mountain path which got narrower. The scenery on the mountaintop was not different from that on the way. But it was late spring, and it was still cold. It was colder in the morning and evening. He felt colder when he reached the top, and it was even piercing. Li Fuyao looked calm and just thought that since there was a wisp of sword Qi left by Chao Qingqiu on Menchen Mountain, it would be not surprising if there was something else weird later.

After he walked out of a quiet forest, there was nothing blocking the way in the front. Before his eyes was nothing but an open space. In front of the open space, it was a tall and big bold cliff, before which was a shabby temple.

There were three people in front of the shabby temple.

Li Fuyao stopped and didn’t move on in a hurry. He just raised his head and looked at the bold cliff, to find that it was not a bold cliff but a huge sword’s blade. Was the huge sword with a height of several hundred meters Sword Mountain?

The swordswoman Xie Lu with the snow-white long sword Light Snow held in her arms glanced at Li Fuyao and said peacefully, “Xian Chunan, I don’t think he can reach the top of Sword Mountain.”

Liu Yibai next to her pressed the long sword with no sheath Wild Grass and laughed. “Xie Lu, if you think that bloke doesn’t have the talent, it’s okay. Give him to me. What if he reaches the top? I will make shift to suffer. What do you think?”

Xian Chunan smiled silently. This was the first swordsman who came to the foot of Sword Mountain since ten years ago. Not to mention the three, perhaps even the few old guys on the mountain had the interest. Then if they fought for the disciple, probably the three wouldn’t have a chance. After all, at the top of Sword Mountain, their master, an old man whose strength could be counted as the second in the world, hadn’t retired, and he had said a few years ago that he wanted to take in the last disciple.

But probably with their master’s vision, he might not take a fancy to this bloke’s talent.

Xie Lu wasn’t in the mood to talk with Liu Yibai. She just held Light Snow in her arms and jumped onto a big bluestone next to the shabby temple, saying coldly, “If he can climb the mountain successfully, he will be my disciple. There is nothing to talk about.”

The corners of Liu Yibai’s mouth twitched. It was not his first time to talk with this unreasonable junior sister apprentice, but he still didn’t get used to it.

Most of the time, this girl was unreasonable.

The three in front of the shabby temple showed different expressions and their thoughts were different. Even though they saw that teenage boy, none of them told him to come over.

Li Fuyao stood in the distance and stared at Sword Mountain which looked like a huge sword. He was nervous and didn’t want to walk anymore.

Liu Yibai covered his head and was delighted in the misfortunes of others, saying, “Xie Lu, your future disciple might have been injured by Chao Qingqiu’s sword Qi when he climbed the mountain. He looks well, but now it appears that his brain was injured.”

Xie Lu didn’t say anything, but when she turned her head and looked at Liu Yibai, there was sword intent on her.

At last, Xian Chunan couldn’t bear to see that and moved two steps forward, coming to Li Fuyao in an instant. Looking at this little guy who was still looking up at Sword Mountain, he asked with a smile, “What are you looking at?”

Li Fuyao answered automatically, “That mountain.”

“Why is that mountain worth watching?” Xian Chunan smiled at Li Fuyao all the time.

Li Fuyao murmured, “But I came for this mountain.”

Xian Chunan nodded to show that he understood, but he still asked gently, “Did you come for this mountain or to climb this mountain?”

It was not a difficult question, but after Xian Chunan asked, Li Fuyao frowned and pondered for a long time unexpectedly. Xian Chunan didn’t urge him but waited for this teenage boy, the only one who came to the foot of Sword Mountain in these ten years, to answer.

Li Fuyao’s eyes became clearer gradually, and he replied with a smile, “I came to learn swordsmanship, not for this mountain.”

Xian Chunan was surprised but then laughed joyfully and his grey clothes seemed to dance with the wind. Many years ago, every time one person climbed the mountain, Xian Chunan would come to ask these questions, but none of them satisfied him. It was not that there were fixed answers to these questions, but when those guys who climbed the mountain answered the questions, most of them mainly considered his mood, not their real thoughts, so after he heard their answers, he wasn’t satisfied with anybody. Later when they climbed the mountain, they naturally couldn’t reach the top.

The mountain path was difficult to walk, but it was also easy. It just depended on how to walk.

Looking at this teenage boy who could walk out of Chao Qingqiu’s sword Qi, Xian Chunan said while smiling, “There is a Sword Washing Pool on the mountaintop. After you reach the top, you don’t need to see anybody. Just choose a nice sword first. But the swords in Sword Washing Pool have different tempers. If it doesn’t want to let you grab it, you’d better not insist. Of course, if many swords are willing to be with you, you have to choose carefully. After Sword Immortal Chao reached the mountaintop, the Ancient Way he chose was one of the top three famous swords in Sword Washing Pool. Now it is in the hands of Sword Immortal Chao, it’s naturally the most famous sword in the world. However, if you need to choose, you should sharpen your eyes.”

Xian Chunan rubbed his head and laughed with self-mockery. “Look at me. I have talked too much. It’s uncertain if you can reach the top of Sword Mountain. After you get there, everything can be discussed.”

Li Fuyao kept all these words in mind and wanted to say something, but he heard Xian Chunan ask him. “You are at the second stage of swordsmen, so you must have practiced swordsmanship. Who taught you?”

Li Fuyao didn’t hide it from this master and told him what happened when Chen Sheng was in Baiyu Town, but he didn’t mention Qing Huai’s name. After all, as Qing Huai said, the people on this mountain seemed not friendly to the demonic land.

Xian Chunan pursed his lips and didn’t say more at last. He just shook his head and then told Li Fuyao to climb the mountain next morning. The reason why it was not tonight was simple. The three would go to sleep, and if Li Fuyao had an accident when he climbed the mountain, nobody would help him.

Li Fuyao didn’t insist on climbing the mountain tonight, but he didn’t follow Xian Chunan to that shabby temple. Xian Chunan just told him to come to the temple after dawn.

After speaking, Xian Chunan didn’t stay there for long but turned to go back to the temple.

When he was a few steps away from the temple, he saw Xie Lu sitting on the bluestone next to the temple, so he rubbed his head.

Liu Yibai looked weirdly at this senior fellow apprentice who was always gentle to anybody.

Xian Chunan said with a frown, “Liu, don’t ask anything. Just wait till this teenage boy reaches the top of Sword Mountain. Especially don’t let Xie Lu get close to that boy.”

Liu Yibai smiled bitterly, “Xian, can you send a secret message to me?”

Xian Chunan was stunned and as expected, Xie Lu on the bluestone held her sword and ran forward.

After a short while, a wisp of fierce sword Qi rose in the front of the open space all of a sudden.

Xian Chunan acted out of character and mumbled, “No, I have to stay away from trouble.”

But before Xian Chunan who realized late walked into the temple, he heard a cold voice from the distance.

“Big brother?”

Liu Yibai held his head with both hands and ran to the temple while saying regretfully, “Bad news. Xian, I am off now.”

All people on Sword Mountain knew that this swordsman at the Dawning Stage feared three things, and the third thing was that his junior sister apprentice called him big brother.
