"Do you know what Hell is?" She inserts her fingers in the popcorn bowl, repeating the dialogue of the girl who is looking at the man who betrayed her with hateful tears in her eyes. "Hell is loving someone like you."

Two little snakes on her head weep in despair.

It's been three years since she left Supernatural Investigation Agency, T City Branch. Her parole period is over and she is a citizen who is recognized for her deeds. She is already over her phobia of humans, and people in general.

"Why are you always here after having a fight with him?" Sayuri asks her. "And why are you watching this movie and crying?"

Dierre turns her head toward her. Now, she doesn't need to wear glasses to hide her eyes. Even if she did, her gaze wouldn't have worked on Sayuri Nakashima because Sayuri has artificial eyes. "He blushed when he saw his sadistic ex."

Spending seven years with Sung Se Joon have been anything but a smooth ride. He tormented her in many ways. He literally pushed her out of her comfort zone. On some days, he would drag her to the bas.e.m.e.nt where they discussed the most cases. At other times, he would bully her siblings by petting them or kissing them. He even s.u.c.k.e.d her toe once, saying that he was exercising his tongue. Whenever she looked at him with an intent to kill him, he would m.o.a.n in a lecherous manner.

Truly a demon. A filthy demon.

She doesn't know whether he is a m.a.s.o.c.h.i.s.t or she is. How did she start liking him? But it happened. He always teased her brutally and then, spoilt her so much. His training was hard, but the results were remarkable. She can look at people without killing them. She can go out and live a normal life.

In the last four years, there has been a line between them. She hasn't been able to confess, but she has been following him, pretending to be interested in demons and demonic magic.

Her ten siblings left her last year. They m.a.t.u.r.ed and decided to live their own lives. Since they are different from normal snakes, Sung Se Joon made them enter the other dimensions to live where they can live freely. Those spots on her head are growing strands of purple hair. June and Maye won't leave. They don't trust Sung Se Joon.

After she visited Hell with Sung Se Joon, she found out about his playboy's lifestyle. He had dated many women -- demonesses. He is even a member of a BDSM community in Hell.

He even introduced her as a sadistic woman who can turn people on with her gaze alone.

Dierre wants to flip tables, kill people, and kick Sung Se Joon's p.e.n.i.s when she recalls how he blushed when that demoness flirted with him. He can't control his m.a.s.o.c.h.i.s.tic urges at all.

By the way, why are all Sung boys so stubborn?

"Dierre, you should tell him that you like him." Sayuri gives her a look. "If you don't tell him, he will always think that you don't like him."

"But he doesn't like me," Dierre cries. "He likes how I make him feel."

"Isn't that better?" Sayuri scratches her chin. "He is a m.a.s.o.c.h.i.s.t and he isn't shy about it. You can seduce him easily."

"I want him to like me with or without my eyes." Dierre sniffles. "What if I also lose my eyes like you? He will stop liking me then."

Sayuri doesn't mind her words. Dierre is naturally dense. She is used to Dierre's dense brain and coarse words. But Sung Se Joon has worked a lot on Dierre. There was a day when Dierre would run away in the opposite direction when she saw humans. Now, she won't run away. Also, he found some cure for her human allergies. Even an idiot can see that the bright-eyed m.a.s.o.c.h.i.s.t cares deeply about Dierre.

But is this her problem? Nope! She isn't like Dierre. Sung Soo Hyun was the one who gave her these eyes.

During the treatment, she fell for him. It didn't matter to her whether he was a demon or a quiet artist who liked to wander through realms.

She kissed him soon as she was able to see his face. Although she can't see colours anymore, she can still identify beauty.

Sung Soo Hyun didn't react. He didn't even flinch. He just stared at her. So, she kissed him again until he left.

He didn't come back after that day. She didn't look for him either. Sayuri was shameless, but she also had pride. She decided to learn about fashion in the supernatural world.

Back then, Toru was a baby. She decided to stay with Choi Minho and take care of her nephew. Her elder sister was always busy reforming the laws of the supernatural world.

There was a big obstacle in her new career. She couldn't see the colours. The world was grey, but nothing could ever take colours away from her mind. She kept making designs, even if they didn't have any colours.

After four years, he returned to her with a pair of glasses at her home.

He didn't say a word when he put on the glasses on her.

And she was able to see vivid colours again.

Sayuri wondered if he was truly a demon because he was nothing less than an angel at that moment.

So, they had a subtle agreement. She would be the talker. He would be the listener. They were together, even if he never confessed his love to each other.

Sometimes, a pair of glasses is enough for a confession.

But Dierre and Se Joon are different.

"June and Maye are with me." Dierre pats her siblings sadly. "I am not alone."

Sayuri sighs. "Just tell him that you love him."

"No." Dierre shakes her head. "I would rather die."

"Why are you still in the human world?" Sayuri stares at her. She doesn't know how they became friends, but they are friends. So, she will make this stubborn girl figure out what she truly wants. "You wanted to leave this world as soon as you received the freedom from the Council."

"I am going to leave." She creases her forehead. "I will go where my siblings are."

"That place is only habitable by snakes," Sayuri informs her. "My brother-in-law told me."

"But I am also…" Dierre raises her head. "What? Little June, you promised to stay on my head until you grew thicker scales."

This is never going to be normal for her. Sayuri shakes her head. But it's her new normalcy. Where are Choi Minho and her nephew? It's been a while since both are gone.

She decides to leave Dierre with her siblings and the sad movie. Soo Hyun is travelling again. He can't stay at one place for too long. Then, he is like a bird who needs to fly. He will always come back to her.

It's not like he hasn't asked her to go with him. She doesn't want to go because of Toru. Her nephew is still young. He needs a cool aunt. Natsumi is too cold, still looking for Wakana everywhere. While Choi Minho has faith that Wakana will return, Natsumi blames herself for failing to protect Wakana.

Everyone carries a burden. Nothing will resolve until Wakana comes back.

Sayuri stretches her arms. She needs to design a kimono dress. Her latest client is a beautiful phoenix.

Before all that, she needs to call Choi Minho.

The house feels emptier and quieter without Toru.

Who knows? Another uninvited guest might come.

***

The phone rings and rings, but Choi Minho doesn't pick up.

Toru can't see anything more either. There is no sign of Wakana.

Where could she have been taken away by them?

Choi Minho sighs. It ends here. She is probably somewhere he can't go.

How long is she going to make him wait?

"Where is she?" Toru asks him, clutching on to him. "I saw her."

"I believe you," Choi Minho murmurs. It's best to leave now.

"Does she not miss me?" Toru bows down his head sadly. "I miss her."

A child will miss his mother. Choi Minho rubs his son's head. "She will come back."

"Really?"

"Really."

Choi Minho returns home with Toru. Since there is a sign of her, there is hope. She will keep her promise.
