Sweet Surrender: The CEO's Second Wife

Three days later.

Catherine and Sandra were inside a beauty salon pampering themselves. Their feet were currently undergoing foot spa massage and pedicure, then next beautifying their fingernails to their hearts contents, and the facial spa is the last on the list of their scheduled activity for the day.

"Happy and excited for the big day?" Sandra teased her friend.

Catherine let out a girly giggle. "Yes of course! So excited that I can almost feel it!"

"I'm so happy for you my friend!" Sandra beamed.

"Sandra, thank you so much for helping me planning the wedding, without your help I dunno if I can even prepare everything on my own," she said teary-eyed. Sandra suggested everything to her, giving her pointers, and then planned everything according to her wishes, early last month while they were on the final preparation, everything just comes into place. She didn't go through the stress and hassle of preparing for her church wedding, she just approves everything. She is lucky to have found a friend in Sandra, her friend's willingness to help her with the wedding is truly amazing!

"What color do you like for your nails, Cath?" Sandra asked.

Catherine looked at her nails. "I think...the light pink color is good. What do you think—?"

Sandra smiled. "That would be great! I think I will have this color red here...on my nails 'coz I haven't tried this color yet," she said pointing at the brochure displaying a multitude of nail colors sample offered by the salon for its clients.

"That would look good on your nails, Sandra," Catherine commented. She looked at her friend's nails, they were long, but she can't allow her nails to grow long because she is holding babies every day she was afraid she might accidentally cut her babies delicate skin with her long nails, that is why she made sure to cut her nails short once a week.

While Sandra was busy examining the colorful nail arts in the brochure, Catherine fished out her phone from her shoulder bag and placed a call on her husband.

"Hello...wifey!"

"How are you doing, guys? How are the babies?" she asked.

"Don't worry about us, baby Angel is sleeping soundly in her crib while I'm preparing baby James bath, besides Anna is here, so just enjoy your time in the spa, it's about time you will pamper yourself once in a while and have bonding session with your friend, it's a relaxing time for my beloved wife, so enjoy yourself! Have fun! I love you!" John said.

"Thank you, husband! I love you! See you later," she said and ended the call.

She placed another call to Grace.

"Hello, Grace!"

"Hello, wazz up, cousin!?" answered Grace.

"So, when are you going to take Sherry and Mother to the salon for a beauty session?" she asked.

"Tomorrow, we will go to the salon," Grace answered. "By the way, cousin, thank you so much for the money, it's a bit too much...I will give the remaining money to Auntie Thelma."

"Don't thank me, cousin, hehehe, it's John's money, remember that I have no income of my own, I'm jobless," she laughed.

"Ah okay, please say my thanks to John, then..."

"By the way...you already got your dresses and shoes ready for the wedding? Did Sherry like her dress and the shoes? You girls are my bridesmaid, you will surely outshine me during the wedding day," Catherine mused.

"Eh? Are you kidding us? The spotlight will surely shine on you the brightest my dearest cousin!" Grace enthused.

"Alright—I'm just kidding! I'm calling you guys to make sure everything is okay. See you next week, Grace!" Catherine said.

"Bye Cath! Enjoy your spa!" Grace said cheerfully.

"Bye cousin!" she said and ended the call.

She has a total of three bridesmaids... Grace, Sherry and her very own sister Caroline. Her Maid Of Honor is Sandra and John's Best Man is Romeo.

Catherine placed another call to her mother.

"Hello, Mother dear!" she said cheerfully.

"Catherine?" Thelma's voice appeared excited on the line.

"Yes, it's me, Mother dearest. Good to know that you already know how to use your touchscreen phone—how are you and the kids? Ready for the big day?" she asked smiling broadly while looking at her feet that was massaged lavishly by the salon's attendant, the brochure said that foot massage improves circulations, reduced tensions and stimulate muscles. Right now she loves the feeling of her feet being pampered because it's the last part of her body that she had neglected due to being busy taking good care of her young children. She had to thank Sandra for introducing her to the world of ~pampering one's self~ rewarding parts of your body for doing their roles dutifully in allowing you to carry on your duties and responsibility every day.

"Were all fine here, tomorrow, Grace, Sherry and I will go to a salon for pampering, I'm kind of excited 'coz it's the first time I will experience something so grand!" Thelma said happily.

"Enjoy the experience, Mother! Do you like the dress Grace had bought for you for the wedding?" she asked.

"Yes, it's beautiful! It fits my body perfectly, thank you so much, daughter!" Thelma said.

"How about the kids? They like their dresses?" she asked.

"Yeah, you know your sibling well—they love everything new!" Thelma responded.

"Okay, good to know that everything is okay at your end, Mother! Are you excited to see Caroline and your granddaughter?" she asked.

"Yes! I'm super duper excited for their arrival," Thelma's voice was exultant.

"Okay, that's good, Mother! See you next week then, give my love to the kids, bye—Mom! I love you! Miss you!" Catherine said.

"Bye, daughter! I love you!" Thelma said an ended the call on her end.

Catherine was about to put back her phone in her shoulder bag when she received a message in her messenger, she was shocked to discover who wants to video chat with her, it's her very own sister—Caroline!

She read the long message in the chat box, her heart was beating faster.

"Hi sis, just want you to know that I'm excited to be your bridesmaid! I love the dress! I can't wait to go home, I want to see mother and our siblings again, I miss baby James so much and I would love to hold baby Angel in my arms. I know I made some terrible mistakes in the past and I know you are not proud of me, I'm sure you hated me to the bones, I am so sorry for all the mistakes I have done, I regretted everything. I'm sorry it takes me so long to send you a message, I'm feeling super-duper guilty and ashamed of myself, I really am. I hope you can find in your heart to forgive me. Don't worry if we see each other face to face, I will allow you to slap my face twice, just don't make it so hard I might lose both my front teeth and no one will marry me if I will turn ugly..." Caroline inserted her message with five laughing emoji.

A single tear fall from Catherine's eye, she wiped it right away with her right hand. Finally, her sister reaches out to her to break the ice, it's a bit late but it's something that she's been waiting for a long time.

Sandra looked up at Catherine, alarmed. "Are you okay—Cath?" she asked worriedly.

Catherine smiled at Sandra. "I'm okay, I'm just chatting with my sister, Caroline," she replied.

Sandra patted Catherine's shoulder giving her a sympathetic look.

Caroline sends another message.

'Sis—where are you—why are you not replying? Can we do video chat? I want you to see me holding your niece in my arms. Gosh, I can't believe I'm already a mother! I kind of had mixed feeling with all this, I'm so afraid I might not be a good mother to my baby...have you felt this way when you give birth to baby James and baby Angel?'

Catherine began typing fast. 'Jeez, why does it took you so long to reply to my messages!? you pissed me off! You indeed need to be slap hard, Caroline! Don't worry the slap won't be so hard.'

Caroline typed again. 'That's a promise, okay? Where are you?'

Catherine typed her response. 'At the salon with my friend Sandra...see this!' She activated the video and roamed the camera around the salon and then focuses it on her foot spa.

Caroline type a message. 'Okay...enjoy the salon...we will video chat tonight ...message me when you're home...bye sis...enjoy!'

Catherine typed her reply...' Bye...see you tonight!'

Whew...Finally!

A bright smile appeared on Catherine's lips, it made her feel so lightheaded! Her black sheep sister Caroline, reaching out to her today after a long time—it made her day—a perfect one!
