Targaryen Who Turned Dragon

Chapter 185 - The Divine Palace

Jaehaerys sat in the royal garden, comprehending the final stage of the White Tiger's Tale of the End. Aerion observed his progress before confronting him.

"The World Ending Storm... one of the most frightening profound skills I've ever comprehended," Aerion stated.

"Royal Father." Jaehaerys looked up and rose to his feet. "I've been thinking about your decision and it still doesn't make sense to me."

"Oh, do you want the truth?"

"The truth?" Jaehaerys inquired, slightly puzzled.

Aerion drew Blackfyre and made a small cut on his cheek. Flames emerged, followed by crimson scales as the wound regenerated. After a second, the scales fell and the cut was no longer there.

"Crimson scales... Daeron, Rhaenyra, Helaena, Visenya and yourself have this trait."

Aerion's profound energy was released through Blackfyre with the strength of a Divine Extinction Realm profound practitioner, sending Jaehaerys flying into the sky. Aerion's profound energy concentrated on the sword, turning into a crimson-black colour.

'Crimson Demon Wave.'

BOOM.

Jaehaerys emerged from the explosion of flames covered in silver and crimson scales. The attack was certainly life-threatening, which awakened the dormant silver scales. He had also grown a set of horns, a tail and wings.

"Such is the life of a prince during times of peace... if it were different, you would have awakened much earlier."

"I have both?" Jaehaerys descended back to the garden. Despite being in phase 4, his emotions were nearly unaffected.

"Yes, you are my complete inheritor. A simple observation told me that long ago. You may be the weakest now, but you will surpass them all in due time." Aerion gave him the Seventh Heaven Pearl. "I trust that you will use this wisely."

"Of course, I know how to share. Still... this does not ease my mind. I have been having dreams of something truly sinister."

"Hmm?"

"I saw demons descending onto the capital and ravaging the land. They were ruthless... killing everything in their sight whether they were men, women or children. Within minutes, the people of Planetos were no more. I believe that this was no more than a nightmare but it might very well be a dragon dream.."

"Invaders from another dimension... a very possible scenario, especially when I am away."

'Izanagi.'

Aerion removed Jaehaerys' wounds and he returned to his normal state.

"I will leave you with plenty of formations containing my mightiest strikes. Along with that, I will leave behind my paths. The strongest line of defence will be the Heaven Smiting Devil Emperor... you will be the one to ask for her protection, crown prince."

Jaehaerys nodded. "I understand."

"Good."

"Prepare for the worst and hope for the best." Rotias laughed.

'That is what we shall do.'

After a month of preparations, Aerion was ready to enter the Divine Palace. He and the other avatars gathered in his inner world.

"You have a snake in here?" Qianye Ying'er noticed Rotias.

"Tsss, I am a God!"

"He is none other than Rotias, the Ancestral God of Darkness," Aerion stated. "He has been a splendid ally and friend of mine."

"I see." Robb turned his eyes to the gate of the Dungeon. "That is the entrance to the Divine Palace?"

"Not quite, it's the entrance to the Dungeon which eventually leads to the ninth floor, where the gates to the Divine Palace lay. The path is quite short for a Creation God... follow."

After reaching the ninth floor, they easily vanquished the elemental warriors and the golden gates appeared. Aerion inserted the key and all of them were sent to another dimension... the Transcendent Being's dimension.

'Our whole bodies have been sent here, not just the soul...' Aerion observed.

They appeared on a platform which floated in the air, reminiscent of the seventh floor. Another set of golden gates awaited them a hundred meters away, guarded by two Creation Gods.

"I'll speak to them." Aerion went ahead.

"Sorry mate, He isn't expecting any guests at the moment. We can book an appointment and you can come back in one to three billion years."

'One to three billion years, are you mad?'

"Do I need to humble you?" Aerion threatened the guard who spoke. "I am the avatar of the Fire Dragon God so an appointment isn't necessary, or is it?"

"I don't give a damn if you're the avatar of the Transcendent Being or some farmer. He isn't expecting any guests... in truth, the Divine Palace is in lockdown and absolutely no one can enter. So you better scatter before WE humble you."

Aerion laughed. "Alright, alright, let's-"

He Lin stopped him. "We did not mean to be so rude. The Transcendent Being gave us the key to this Divine Palace so we entered. He did not speak of a lockdown, however, so we were unaware. Please forgive us but we really need to enter."

"I like this wood spirit kid." The other guard nodded. "He can go inside along with the rest, except for the silver-haired one."

"But we're in lockdown." The guard countered.

"Everyone's so stuck-up in there, so we need some humble people to balance it out. I'm sure He will understand." The other guard opened the gate and everyone was warped inside. Aerion tried to enter but he was struck by a barrier. "Listen, mate. You can't enter without our permission."

Aerion laughed. "You can't be serious... you let in everyone except for me."

"Yes, I did. Got a problem with that?"

"I don't have the time to play games with you. Step aside before I cut you down." Aerion took out the Heaven Punishing Ancestral Sword and Heaven Smiting Sword.

"You leave us no choice."

'Rotias.'

Dragon Emperor.

The two guards attempted to pierce him with their spears but his figure already vanished, leaving behind eight afterimages which left the guards confused for a few moments.

"This movement technique... it is the Star God's Broken Shadow!"

Aerion gathered his profound energy into both swords as Star Flames engulfed them.

'Soul Shattering Slash.'

One of the guards was purified and dazed while the other managed to escape the frightening flames. Aerion descended to the dazed guard and stabbed him with the Heaven Smiting Sword. The silver scales on his left arm expanded onto the sword and, eventually, the guard. The dead guard's cultivation strength was being drained rather swiftly.

"D... demon." The guard managed to speak.

"Demon?"

Aerion cut open his neck with the Heaven Punishing Ancestral Sword, ending the guard's life.

"It has been billions of years since someone dared to strike a Divine Guard, let alone kill one. The Transcendent Being will avenge his death by ending your existence."

"He cares about his guards?" Aerion laughed. "You can be easily replaced... in truth, the value of your existence is to strengthen me and nothing more. He would be delighted by your death."

"No... that is not true."

"Believe what you will, the result will be the same." Aerion coldly stated.

"Our duty is to kill you..."

"How well has that went for you?"

"Not too well." The guard sighed.

"Precisely."

...

A few seconds later.

Aerion looked at the two fallen guards who had so kindly granted him even greater strength. The dragon dream remained on his mind and so, he walked back to the exit of the Divine Palace to strengthen Primal Chaos. He intended to release a Fire-Blood doppelganger who would deliver some cultivation strength but the exit disappeared before he even reached it.

"Not so fast, my son-in-law, hahaha." The Old Man appeared above him. Within moments, his figure completely transformed into something relative to a celestial being. His hair and eyes were both a pure white colour... his entire figure was so white that it could blind anyone who looked upon him.

Aerion closed his eyes.

'That bastard...'

"How do you plan to defeat me if you cannot even use your eyes?" The Transcendent Being laughed. "What a hopeless ambition."

"The fact that you stopped my clone from leaving does suggest that there is some truth to Jaehaerys' dragon dream..."

"Indeed, it is all true. My subjects will enjoy ravaging the Valyrian Empire before I completely erase Primal Chaos from existence."

"Why would you do that?"

"Why not? It's a waste of space in my eyes."

Aerion grit his teeth.

"Well, I can give you a choice. Either join your friends in the upcoming trials and tribulations or descend back to Primal Chaos to protect it from the invasion. Which is more important to you, I wonder? The Valyrian Empire, six of your children, ten wives, all of your subjects and friends... or six avatars of Ancestral Gods?"

"You will not shake my resolve," Aerion replied. "I will thoroughly shatter you even if everyone around me has to die."

'Once I gain your power... death will no longer be an obstacle.'

"Hmm, good, good. You have made me proud... I thought that you still valued the countless mortal lives over a few Gods. A group of mortals, no matter how many there are, will never compare to a single minor god. You have not thrown away your only chance to defeat me... wonderful, that is truly wonderful! Still, the invasion has already begun. Your mortal subjects will meet a sad fate because of your selfish decision."

"My selfish decision? You would make a good jester, Transcendent Being. Yes... that is what I will make you when this is all said and done. You will be my very own court jester."

"Hahaha... an amusing thought, Aerion Targaryen. Now turn around and enter the Divine Palace. The six others are in a completely different section so you will be on your own until you reach the throne room. It has gotten pretty bloody in that section... but you shouldn't worry about that. Worry about the trials that await you and stay on your sharpest edge, or you will... die."

"If that were to happen, all those years of struggle would mean absolutely nothing and I would be disappointed." He added.

The Transcendent Being disappeared, leaving Aerion alone in the pathway to the Divine Palace. Aerion walked back to the golden gate and shattered the barrier with the Heaven Punishing Ancestral Sword.

'I will slaughter everything in my path.'

He walked inside of the Divine Palace with the Heaven Smiting Sword in his left, silver-scaled arm, and the Heaven Punishing Ancestral Sword in his right arm.

'That bastard will know what it means to awaken a Dragon.'
