Targaryen Who Turned Dragon

Chapter 28 - Coasting Through

That night Aerion was a man on a mission, learning the first stage of the Star God's Broken Shadow and the Great Way of the Buddha in just one night! Without even knowing it, Aerion was also abusing the power of his Sharingan to comprehend and copy the Star God's Broken Shadow from Jasmine. Aerion could now lift Sky Piercer with ease.

"I finally... did it."

"The speed of your comprehension is truly impressive..." Jasmine nodded

"Ye...yeah."

Aerion was so exhausted that the only thing he could think of was his bed. He walked like a zombie down to the ground floor and to his room, it was a long walk but he did it. Luckily it was midnight so no one saw Aerion in his current state.

*Unlock*

He opened the door, entered his room and closed the door.

*Boom*

Aerion dropped into his bed face first.

~Late Morning~

*Yawn*

Aerion rested in his bed for an extra ten minutes, his body refusing to leave the heaven that was his bed. Then, with some STRONG willpower involved, Aerion stood up and got dressed. He looked in the mirror.

"My hair is a complete mess..."

It was long, way longer than Aerion remembered.

"Time for a trim."

It's going to be quite hard doing it by myself... usually, I would have servants to do this for me.

"I can see that you're struggling, perhaps you need this princess' help?"

"Yes, that would be well appreciated."

"Stay still."

The scarlet princess' haircutting skill was peerless, Aerion had never seen anything like it. Aerion stated what he wanted and she did it perfectly. When he looked in the mirror again he saw a Targaryen Prince... (that mid-length hair with braids, Viserys style!)

"You're amazing... thank you, Jasmine."

"You're welcome." she smiled.

Every single disciple, master and elder was present at the entrance of the Noble Rogue Sect. The Grandmaster himself was on top of a podium and in front of the crowd. There were about 10,000 Noble Rogue Sect members present.

"Today is the day the quarterly assembly begins! As usual, we will have an epic tournament that shall last the whole day and then a huge feast shall be held! Now, we march down to The Grand Arena!"

Wind God's Arena? I thought it was going to be held in the Noble Rogue Sect. I guess that Grand Arena must really be impressive...

The Masters and Elders of the Noble Rogue Sect led the disciples down while the Grandmaster and his four Grand Elders (sky profound elders) watched over them from the skies.

~A few minutes later~

The people who weren't participating in the tournament sat down on one of the 60,000 seats. The arena was opened to the public, the entry fee was 10 purple profound coins. Instantly, every single seat was filled by rich citizens. So this is Oldtown's greatest landmark, The Grand Arena. At the floor of the arena stood two hundred division-less adepts, I was one of them. There was a small elimination process to reduce the number of disciples attending to 64. Some disciples had to fight each other for a spot, Aerion was challenged once. Guess what happened?

That person was knocked out in one hit.

Now, the real tournament was beginning. It took the elders a couple of minutes to get all of the names down and create the bracket. The first fight was Liu Lei against someone Aerion didn't know. Aerion jumped up to the stands and sat down. The floor was cleared of disciples in a few minutes and it was just Liu Lei and his opponent now.

The General of the Blades and the Commandant of the Guards were on opposite sides, inspecting the participants.

~ Sometime later~

"Liu Lei against Wu Qiu, may the match begin!" The announcer announced

Somehow, Tai Xia sneaked into the seat to my right. Not only that, most of the seats near me were occupied by girls. Looks like Tai Xia was asserting her dominance over the others by taking the closest seat. Aerion almost laughed, their fighting over seats! Such a trivial thing...

"So how was your last mission?" Xia asked

"It was alright, I guess."

"The tournament is going to be extremely long..." Xia said as she got into a more comfortable position. Her head softly fell into Aerion's c.h.e.s.t. Aerion embraced her, a small smile formed on Xia's beautiful face as a result. The girl to Aerion's left was so jealous of Xia that Aerion didn't even need the Sharingan to see her jealousy.

~

Tai Wentian paid special attention to Aerion and Xia, then his cold eyes thawed a bit. If one were to get a microscope, the person would see a minuscule smile on Tai Wentian's face.

"A cute couple indeed... Xia... you've finally found someone worthy..."

Tai Wentian had tried for years to match his daughter to someone suitable. Every single person he selected for her, she rejected. No matter who it was... a powerful and handsome young master? No. One of Blue Wind's princes? No. A talented Tai relative? No. A rich merchant's son? No. No, no and no. Eventually, Tai Wentian just gave up. Now, she fell in love with the person he planned to grow into his heir... it was a dream-come-true to him.

"Jun Long, you impress me more and more with every passing moment..."

~

The battle between Liu Lei and Wu Qiu was really intense but, using the third stage "A Thousand Cuts", Liu Lei came out triumphant in the end. Then so many boring fights happened that Aerion almost went to sleep. It reminded him of the jousts he used to watch when he was really young. Then Xia had to go down and fight some scrub, she beat him with a wave of her hand. Then Shu fought a scrub which he completely wrecked. Tai Quin also had an easy time with his matchup. Tai Dang also dealt with his opponent easily. The last match of the round was me against a true profound 7 adept.

I jumped down to the floor and stood to the opposite side of my opponent. He wasn't exactly confident in his ability to fight me head-on.

"Can I... surrender?"

"No, you must fight." The nearest master said in a cold tone.

This fight is a bit unnecessary, so I'll go easy on him.

"Jun Long against Bai He, may the match begin!"

Star God's Broken Shadow.

Aerion explodes with speed and appears right behind Bai He while he's still looking at his afterimage.

*slash*

Aerion's hidden blade makes a small cut on Bai He's cheek. The hidden blade stays still, waiting for the announcer to speak.

"Jun Long wins!"

Aerion withdraws his Hidden Blade immediately and gets back in his seat. Xia asked what was the movement technique he used and Aerion simply responded with "it's my family's sacred movement technique".

"Interesting..." she said in response

~

There was a brief resting period before the second round had begun in which Aerion grabbed a quick snack. After that was over, the tournament continued. The first match:

Liu Lei vs Tai Dang.

This wasn't going to turn out well for Liu Lei as he was only True Profound Seven while Tai Dang was Spirit Profound 4. It was hard for Aerion to watch his best friend get absolutely wrecked by Tai Dang. Tai Dang was merciless, he wanted revenge against Aerion in any way possible and beating his friend was an easy way to do so.

After the announcer ended the match, Liu Lei was bleeding all over and he had a broken right arm. It looked like the announcer was a bit biased, the match should've ended way sooner. His father's influence... is most likely why it turned out like this. At this point, Aerion's chances of joining the Guards were zero.

His lilac eyes were glowing with rage. If I meet that Tai Dang in the arena... he's not coming back the same.

Other than Liu Lei's match, there wasn't any battle Aerion was interested in. Tai Quin, Shu and Xia both made it to the Top 16 with ease. Then Aerion had to fight a somewhat decent disciple, Spirit Profound 2. Aerion gave him a small beating and moved up to the Top 16. The tournament continued. This time it was a bit more interesting; Tai Quin almost lost to his opponent but he used the fifth stage of the Wind God's Arts (Earth Destroying Tornado) in the end to win. Tai Shu had a long fight with his opponent that lasted a couple of minutes, in the end, he came out victorious. Xia won her battle without even using a weapon. There were another 3 matches that Aerion didn't care about. Then it was Aerion's turn.

Spirit Profound 3... not bad, not bad. I haven't met anyone who I needed to use Sky Piercer against... oh well.

Swift wind.

*Knockout*

He was just like the o-.

He saw that one coming and blocked my hand with his sword. A smile appeared on my face... finally! Someone who isn't just like the others.

"You think you can beat me so easily, just like the ones you fought before!? Guess what, I'm not like them." He arrogantly stated

Damn, this man is getting happy over blocking a slap to the neck... how pitiful.

"Well? Aren't you going to attack?" He asked

"No, I don't think I will. You attack first."

"Alright... you'll regret this! HAAAAAAAAAAAA... MIGHTY WIND SLASH!!!"

"Is that all?"

Aerion summoned his own mighty wind slash which completely destroyed his opponent's and continued moving forward. Aerion's opponent managed to dodge his mighty wind slash at the last second.

"See? That's the second time you couldn't hit me."

So annoying...

A thousand cuts.

Wind surrounded him and he got viciously slashed a thousand times. Once the wind went away, he wasn't looking too good. His wounds weren't life-threatening as Aerion used a very small amount of his profound energy.

"And that's the thousandth time I've hit you."

500:1 ratio, I'm quite accurate hahaha.

Then there was a short rest period and a draw.

Basically, the announcer randomly picks two names (they're written on a small piece of paper) from a box and they have to fight against each other in the next round. Their names are then removed from the box and then the announcer picks two more names, this process is done four times (in total).

"The first fighter will be... Jun Long... and his opponent will be... Tai Dang!"
