Targaryen Who Turned Dragon

Chapter 56 - A Surprise

"Izanami... I can't see... I'm blind... for now. Take good care of me... alright?"

"Alright..."

Aerion went to sleep.

~

Aerion heard the roar of the Dragon and the flickering of his flames. He couldn't see... only hear, touch, smell and taste. Oh wait, he's only missing one of his senses. Well... sight is the most important one, relied upon by most.

"What do I do now?"

"Relax and wait for your eyes to return."

Aerion stood up. "I'm not going to sit around and do nothing."

"You can still complete tasks while relaxing, Aerion."

"I'm going to Floor Six... to meditate."

"Meditation is relaxing is it not?"

"Yes, mostly."

Aerion walked like a man who didn't know where the hell he was going. It took him a while to find the Dungeon's gate but he succeeded. He placed the ring inside and opened the gate. Then he took his ring back and walked forward. The sound of mad fire spirits and the flowing ocean reassured Aerion that he was in the right place. He walked... yes... walked up the volcano. Flying would just lead to him getting lost. The sounds of a volcano erupting became louder and louder as he walked forward. Then he reached the hole and tripped inside. Tripping is never a good feeling.

Aerion fell to the bottom layer and laid dormant there... awaiting the return of his eyesight.

~

"We have finished off everything apart from the formations."

"Why not the formations?" The Heavenly Fire Demon asked.

"Well, it would be better if someone stronger than us completed them. We can do the general formation but..."

"You'll need me to fortify it?"

"Yes... exactly."

The Heavenly Fire Demon nodded. "Very well."

While Aerion was in his 'coma', the Heavenly Fire Demon oversaw the construction of the Dragonsguard division's buildings. The Seven disciples have now moved from the Noble Rogue Sect to the set of new buildings which are now commonly known as the 'Dragon's Palace'. It's big enough to house over a hundred disciples but less than a dozen people live in it. The builders and Heavenly Fire Demon considered the fact that it would probably grow into a small sect in the future and so the Dragon's Palace was made larger. The training rooms were far superior to the ones in the Noble Rogue Sect since the Heavenly Fire Demon himself fortified them with his early Sovereign cultivation strength. He did the same for the Noble Rogue Sect's facilities but to a lesser degree. This led to the Seven Dragonsguard disciples growing even faster.

~60 days after the fight~

Aerion opened his eyes at last. He could see again and his eyesight seemed normal, perhaps slightly better than before. He breathed a sigh of relief.

The dark ages have finally ended!

He took in his surroundings and realised that he didn't recognise this place. His clothes were neatly placed on a table. Aerion got out of bed and began to dress. It only took half a minute, Aerion was keen to find out where he was.

Could this be the so-called afterlife? Probably not, I don't remember dying.

Aerion opened the door to the bedroom and left. He began to hear countless different sounds which sounded like a group of people were fighting. He moved to the Pavilion where this sound was coming from. There he saw six people; Tai Xia, Izanami, Cai Rong, Sun Lin, Mo Yi and Wei Ling. It seemed to be a 3v3 match. He realised that this was probably the place he asked the builders to construct. Aerion leaned against the wall and decided to spectate the fight.

Izanami clearly has worse teammates... this should be interesting!

It was Tai Xia, Cai Rong and Mo Yi against Izanami, Sun Lin and Wei Ling. But Sun Lin and Wei Ling were knocked out relatively quickly, leaving Izanami all alone against her three combatants. She stood confidently despite her disadvantage. Mo Yi attacked first and moments later, he found himself on the floor with a sword a centimetre away from slicing his neck. He withdrew and joined the spectators. Now Izanami only had to deal with Tai Xia and Cai Rong. They attacked her at once and so she had little space to retaliate. When the opportunity arose for her to counter, she slashed at the weakest link which was Cai Rong.

Aerion noticed that Tai Xia was strong... really strong. It looked like the Dragon Seed he so gracefully supplied had granted her the legacy of the Dragon God. This made her body stronger and more resistant, which resulted in her having greater battle power than before. On the other hand, Izanami had the Sharingan and a greater cultivation strength.

Cai Rong was quickly taken care of when Izanami used her Frozen Cloud Arts. By taken care of, I mean she was completely frozen! Sun Lin didn't hesitate at all when he took her frozen body and placed her somewhere safe. The spectating disciples looked at her and Sun Lin scratched his head.

"How are we going to thaw the ice? Most of us use the wind element... cutting her into pieces wouldn't be a great solution."

"We should bring Fen Juecheng..."

Mo Yi shook his head. "He's locked himself up in one of the rooms, disrupting him would be... inconvenient."

"Well..."

Aerion walked forward.

"Ah, Master Jun, your back!"

This simple sentence managed to steal everyone's attention and it resulted in the little duel between Izanami and Tai Xia temporarily ending. Aerion came closer and touched the ice. Moments later, fire burst to life from his hand and surrounded Cai Rong. Soon, the fire melted the ice away. Aerion moved his hand away.

"You should be more careful with that Frozen Cloud Art, Lai Mei."

"Perhaps I should."

"Husband!"

Aerion embraced Tai Xia and passionately kissed her.

"I was worried the whole time... I thought you'd never recover."

"It's alright now..."

"Hmph." Izanami turned and walked away.

Aerion broke free and changed the subject. "So, what has transpired while I was away?"

~

Aerion listened to his Dragonsguard, asking questions once in a while when he needed to. He learnt of the new rivalry between Fen Juecheng and Tai Shu. Both Tai Xia and Izanami had moved to the Dragon's Palace. Apparently, the Heavenly Fire Demon was unanimously voted to be the "Elder" of the division. The Seven disciples decided to call themselves the Sacred Seven, which Aerion found amusing. The leader of the Sacred Seven couldn't be decided, however.

"Robb shall be the leader."

"Not Fen Juecheng or Tai Shu?" Mo Yi asked

"Yeah, Mo Yi has a point... they could easily beat him in a fight! Robb is probably the weakest in this division."

Aerion sighed, all cultivators care about is strength. Aerion decided to ask a question in order to enlighten his followers.

"What does a leader do? Allow me to enlighten you! A leader wisely commands his followers in order to lead them to the best outcome possible in battle or out. COMMANDS! Giving commands doesn't require cultivation strength... nor do you need it to be a wise leader! It's just a mere bonus... it makes gaining the respect of the followers easier. That is all."

"So even a cripple can become a great leader?" Wei Ling asked.

"Is Robb a cripple?"

"Well... no, not at all."

"And to answer your question... yes, even a cripple can be a great leader. The thing is: I trust Robb's ability to lead from personal experience. Now, then, let's gather everyone."

~

"You've returned at last, disciple."

"I see that you've done a brilliant job while I was away."

"This? I barely did anything."

"Never the less, you did something. Those formations will be extremely beneficial long-term."

Aerion turned his eyes to the Sacred Seven who were in an organised shoulder-to-shoulder formation. The Heavenly Fire Demon stood beside Aerion. Izanami had left to the pavilion she had claimed and never came back, well not yet at least. Tai Xia decided to visit her father and inform him of Aerion's return.

"Now... let's see how you've all grown! Strike me all at once, no holding back or you'll find your head buried under the ground."

Since none of them wanted to be buried underground, they all attacked. Aerion was impressed by their individual strength but their strategy... it was appalling. They attacked like some peasant mob, unorganised and predictable. Aerion simply dodged their wild and uncoordinated attacks. Not only did they struggle to hit him, but they also ended up hitting each other. Robb tried to get them to listen and his efforts were not wasted. Soon the smarter ones backed down and waited for the perfect opportunity to strike. Then the rest joined them.

"We need a strategy... and we need one quickly," Robb suggested.

"Alright then, since your the leader, go ahead and make one." Tai Shu responded.

"As long as you listen..."

Aerion dug Stormcaller into the ground and leaned onto it. He waited a whole two minutes... something an enemy would never do but this was a necessary step in the right direction.

Robb grabbed his shield and raised his sword. "SPEARHEAD FORMATION!"

Mo Yi led the formation with his spear, followed by Tai Shu and Fen Juecheng on his left and right. Further left stood Cai Rong and further right stood Wei Ling. Sun Lin covered the back and Robb was in the very centre.

3 in the middle, two going diagonally right and another two going diagonally left. How intriguing.

Aerion grabbed Stormcaller and prepared to meet the charge.

"Certainly better than before."

Aerion blocked Mo Yi's spear with Stormcaller. Then Tai Shu and Fen Juecheng attacked from the left and right.

"ENCIRCLE THE ENEMY!"

The spearhead formation soon changed into a circle around Aerion. It happened very quickly. Aerion flew up and fired off a ball of fire into the circle formation.

"EVERYONE, SCATTER!"

Everyone dodged the ball of fire and awaited Robb's next instruction.

"JUECHENG, SHU, ATTACK! EVERYONE ELSE, COMBINE YOUR PROFOUND ENERGY WITH CAI RONG'S AND MO YI'S TO PRODUCE A LARGE TORNADO!"

Tai Shu attacked first, Aerion dodged and kicked him down to the floor. Flames surrounded Fen Juecheng's sword and he released a powerful attack, a dragon-shaped attack.

"Seafaring Flame Dragon!"

An interesting attack, Aerion slapped it away. Fen Juecheng charged Aerion and attacked him several times, every single one of hits missing. He was furious... his slashes became quicker and more aggressive. He managed to cut Aerion's sleeve, an impressive feat. Aerion soon grew tired and sent him flying with a wind slash from Stormcaller.

"Well, is this all you can do?"

Aerion turned and saw a huge Earth Decimating Tornado approaching him. It had the potential to harm a peak Sky Profound cultivator. Still, it was nothing to Aerion. A single slash from Stormcaller ended its existence. The disciples weren't done, however. They all used A Thousand Cuts on him. Five at once... it was far weaker than the tornado, Aerion wondered what was the point. He released his profound energy and scattered the wind.

*SHEW*

From the corner of his eye, Aerion saw a sword flying towards him. He dodged...

"EVERYTHING!!!"

Fen Juecheng released a field of fire onto Aerion. Using fire against Aerion was the worst idea ever. Not only does he wield the mighty Fire Seed, but he's also a Targaryen! He stood still and relaxed. Then his eyes widened when he saw an Earth Decimating Tornado coming towards him. It was too late to dodge, the fire did a good job of hiding the wind. The fire disappeared and the wind took over. Tai Shu concentrated the tornado into one point... Aerion's hand.

*SLASH*

It continued to slash at his arm... continuously. Aerion flicked it away, back to Tai Shu. He looked at his hand and saw no damage.

It seems that I'm just too strong.

"Concentrating the tornado into something smaller... most impressive. Everyone, get back in line."

They did as told, the Heavenly Fire Demon nodding in approval.

"Do you all see how a leader, when his warriors listen to him, can change the odds in a battle? You weren't going to win against me anyway... but at least you put up a good fight. Now... all of you are going to practice on your teamwork until I say otherwise. No one is going to close themselves in a room and meditate all day... no, if you want to get stronger, spar each other! Build bonds... find each other's weakness and strengths, work on them... become a single and unbeatable unit!"

"Yes, My Lord!"

Aerion left the Sacred Seven in the clear white room, similar to the ones in the Noble Rogue Sect. He left the Heavenly Fire Demon with the Dragonsguard to oversee their progress. He decided to visit Izanami, it was a while since they had a private moment together. The Heavenly Fire Demon had told him which of the pavilions she lived in. Aerion was impressed with the amount of work the builders had completed in just sixty days. Over 20 pavilions, 30 separate rooms, a large hall for feasting, 15 rooms for meditation and a whole lot more. Still, Aerion was surprised by the length of time he had been blind. Did using Purgatory drastically increase the consequences? Or was it because he had learned a new ability relating to his eyes?

How come Rotias hasn't made another move? Perhaps he's focusing on himself rather than attacking me... I imagine that he'd want to reach the very peak in terms of strength before meeting me once again. In the meantime, he'll most likely send a few more grunts to harass me before he reaches that level of strength. Or he won't at all... that God is as unpredictable as they come. Nevertheless, I must be prepared for anything.

Aerion unlocked the door.

"Didn't you get taught any manners?"

"A few."

"Why are you here?"

"Do I need a reason to see you?"

"Not really."

"Exactly, come, let's walk."

Izanami sighed. "Alright."

~

"Do you ever wish you could return to your home?"

Aerion nodded. "Of course... it's where I was born. I left my uncle and aunt all alone in that cruel world. I once dreamed of being the greatest King of the Seven Kingdoms, a King everyone would remember. Then I soon realised that my dream was shattered to pieces by the Usurper... then, when I was older, I realised that my dream could be possible once more. Then, when all the pieces were coming together, it was shattered once more, by a damn natural disaster."

"I understand... I too want to return to my home."

"Where may that be?"

"A different world, you wouldn't know anything about it... apart from the few things I've told you."

"About that world... my Sharingan has evolved."

"A new ability?" Izanami asked.

"Well, not really. I have used it before, to protect you."

"Is it the Susanoo?"

"Yeah, it is."

Izanami chuckled. "I have it as well."

A dark blue Susanoo ribcage appeared. Then it turned into a skeleton... then armour surrounded it. Aerion was shocked, he thought only he owned this ability.

"Anyone who has the Mangekyou Sharingan can use it..."

Aerion tried to do the same thing Izanami did and he succeeded. Eventually, he found himself inside a fully armoured Susanoo.

This will be useful both on offence and defence, Aerion thought.

"When did you learn it?"

"Right after you went into your coma."

"I see..."

They continued walking around the woods, enjoying the fresh air. Then Izanami stopped and looked directly into Aerion's eyes.

"Do you love me?"

Aerion wondered why she'd ask such a question.

"Of course, why wouldn't I?"

"You do very little to show it."

Aerion smiled, so that's the reason.

"I'll show you my passion soon enough."

"Then I'll be patient, but you better not keep me waiting for too long."

"I'll try my best."

~

Aerion had spent most of the day with Izanami, then he had a conversation with the Grandmaster where he was thanked countless times and then he watched a little duel between two rivals; a Blade and a Guard. The guard barely won. It was a long and entertaining fight. Then Aerion went to his new Pavilion in the Dragon's Palace. Tai Xia laid in his bed, her eyes glued to a book. Aerion undressed and got under the sheets.

"I never saw you reading books before." Aerion commentated.

"I just found it interesting..."

"Let me see it."

'A Guide To Pregnancy, Week by Week'. Aerion looked down and he saw a slight bump on Tai Xia's stomach. He doesn't remember that being there. He heard the Dragon God's voice.

"You seem confused... the V.i.r.g.i.n Dragon Seed passes some of my blood to the first person you have s.e.x with."

The Dragon God never said anything about instant impregnation! Ahhh... I'm going to be a father at the age of eighteen! Far sooner than I expected... far sooner than I would've liked. Ah, what does it matter? The Targaryen line goes on!

"I haven't been this happy for a long time... I'm going to be a father!"

Aerion embraced Tai Xia and a few tears of joy dropped down his cheek. Tai Xia did the same, she had never seen the usually calm Aerion cry.

It was a truly special moment for him, one he'd remember forever.
