Targaryen Who Turned Dragon

Chapter 62 - The Reach And Dorne Bend

"Daenerys, I'm leaving for Highgarden... would you like to come with me?"

"Of course, I want to see its beautiful garden."

"So do I... and I'll get the Reach to bend the knee, effectively hitting two birds with one stone."

Aerion left Daemon to take care of Storm's End just in case anything unexpected were to happen. You never know with the Seven Kingdoms.

~Two days later~

"Rhaegal, are you ready to fill Highgarden with a mighty roar?"

"I'm prepared to burn it all if they are arrogant enough to waste our time."

"I think that won't be necessary."

As Rhaegal flew closer, Highgarden became more and more visible. A large shadow loomed over the castle, the shadow of a Dragon! Rhaegal had grown to be as tall as Balerion (if not slightly taller) and it didn't seem like he was going to stop growing anytime soon.

*ROAR!!!*

A heaven-shaking roar filled the skies and the earth below. The citizens of Highgarden rushed indoors in chaos, afraid of the giant creature who flew over them. The guards wet themselves and ran as well. Everyone within the near vicinity of Highgarden was afraid that a mighty hail of fire would descend upon the castle. Many bowed and prayed to their gods, the false gods who have no power over those who worship them. No god will, or even can, protect them from Aerion and his dragon. Fortunately for them, Aerion doesn't kill for no reason.

Aerion jumped off Rhaegal and landed smoothly onto the main palace of Highgarden. Then Daenerys jumped as well, Aerion used his wind to make the fall harmless. Aerion opened the large doors and walked inside. Mace Tyrell rushed down the stairs and almost tripped. Robb tried his best to keep his laughter inside.

"I hear you decided to bend the knee?"

"Ah... yes, of course!"

He quickly bent on one knee, Aerion smiled. That was quick.

"You are wise to join me... now you may stand, Lord Paramount of the Reach."

Robb walked forward. "The King is here after a long journey, go and prepare a feast for him!"

"Of course, how could I be so rude. Follow me... Your Grace."

~

After finishing his food, Aerion felt satisfied. The hospitality of the Tyrells was of the highest quality as they didn't dare to displease their new King. Aerion decided it was time for him to explore Highgarden more so he stood up.

"I'm going to see the gardens..."

"Dear Margaery, why don't you accompany the King and give him a tour around the castle?"

Margaery nodded, Aerion agreed. "Very well."

"Then I'm going as well," Daenerys responded.

And so, they left the palace and moved outside. Highgarden didn't just have a garden, it was the garden itself. Unlike most castles, one could smell fresh air everywhere they went. The flowers were all beautiful and thriving in the warm weather. There was no better place for them to grow than Highgarden. Sometime after Aerion's arrival, the citizens of Highgarden finally left their homes and got to work as usual. There were a lot of gardeners, as one would expect. Managing and keeping a garden as huge as Highgarden's in peak condition would require a lot of work and delicate care.

The tour was slightly awkward at first, with both Daenerys and Margaery avoiding talking to each other. Aerion's charisma picked up the slack and soon, conversations between the three became more interesting and much more relaxed. Aerion also noticed that both maidens had been smitten by his charming appearance, which was natural. After all, he was very attractive before he had even started cultivating. Now... he's on a whole new league, a level that no mortal man could hope to match. Aerion imagined how it would be in the future when he would break through to the higher realms of cultivation and stages of the Great Way Of The Buddha.

"Highgarden lives up to its name, I could definitely see myself returning in the near future."

"You will be warmly welcomed by House Tyrell when that day comes because you will be King... and the King is welcome wherever he goes."

"Very true."

"Aerion is already the King and the Seven Kingdoms will have to acknowledge that truth soon enough," Daenerys responded.

The day quickly passed... Aerion went into one of the guest chambers and drifted off into a long sleep. He wanted to dream and he did, for a bit. All he managed to do was submerge himself into a beach's water. The sun made it warm and comforting... he didn't feel like leaving. But the Dragon burnt it all away, to Aerion's disappointment.

"What now?"

"You were going to spend a few hours more than you'd like in there, I took you out of it. Hmph... show some gratitude!"

"Thank you, I guess."

Red words appeared, his status to be exact.

Aerion had spent a whole two months in Highgarden. It was a nice castle to rest in, though he didn't just rest the whole time. Of course, he had to do some sort of training during that time. The two profound arts the Heavenly Fire Demon had given him were called 'Boundless Sword' and 'Boundless Fists'. Aerion focused on 'Boundless Sword' and quickly learned its core fighting style. It was calm, swift and arrogant. It would make the opponent grow with anger... and make mistakes. Not only did the art capitalise on mistakes, but it also turned the opponent's anger against them and countered with stunning strength. Quite the opposite of the Heavenly Fire Demon. Somewhere in between, he broke through to the 8th Stage of the Emperor Profound Realm while hunting gold and climbing those stairs over and over again.

He realised that the Tyrells were doing their best to match Margaery with him. If they were to marry, she'd obviously be the Queen... a very prestigious position (to say the least). Aerion saw no harm in this. In fact, he grew to like her and they ended up spending a large amount of time together. She introduced hawking to him and it soon became a new hobby of his.

After hearing of Robert successfully raising most of his banners, Aerion decided it was time to continue his Conquest, onto the next stage. He sent a raven to Sunspear, the home of the Martells and the seat of Dorne, to reassure the loyalty of Dorne. He received pleasing results... Doran Martell, his uncle, agreed to bend the knee and fight under his banner. Aerion had three uncles; Viserys, Doran Martell and Oberyn Martell. Unfortunately, he never got to meet his uncles from his mother's side.

Aerion now commanded the entirety of the Reach and Dorne, two of the mightier Kingdoms.

Aerion's side: The Reach (70k), Dorne (40k), Stormlands (Only Storm's End, 1.3k)

Neutral: The Vale, Iron Islands

Robert's Side: The Stormlands (20k), North (30k), Riverlands (30k), Westerlands (40k), Crownlands (10k)

Robert quickly mustered the armies of the Crownlands, North and Riverlands. Some of the lords in the Crownlands were hesitant, as they were loyal to House Targaryen, Robert decided that he'd deal with them later. Most of the Riverlands' banners were raised except for a few neutral houses, like House Frey. Then the Westerlands joined Robert after Tywin heard of a few rumours stating that Aerion had a Dragon, if Aerion were to win the war... it wouldn't look pretty for the Lannisters. Tywin expected that he would get no mercy in that scenario. The Vale was controlled by Lysa Arryn who had enclosed herself in the Eyrie, meaning that she's neutral. The Iron Islands didn't exactly like Robert so they too were neutral. Then, with his already massive army, Robert moved to the Stormlands and gathered most of its banners. It was at this point where Aerion gathered his own army and sent them marching to the Stormlands. He left Robb, Duncan and Jon in charge of leading the army to Storm's End while he flew to there himself. He left Daenerys and Viserys in Highgarden, where they would be safe.

~

Aerion looked down at Storm's End while floating a few dozen meters in the air. His hair had grown longer since it was last cut, it swayed in the direction of the wind. Jasmine stated that he looks better with longer hair, so he was a bit more hesitant to cut it. He looked more like his father than ever. The only difference between them was hair colour, Aerion's being silver rather than silver-blond. His eye colour is usually lilac, but it can glow a darker shade of purple (deep purple/indigo) at certain times.

He wore black plate armour which was mostly concentrated on the upper body, making him lighter on his feet. A crimson coat (kinda like a tunic) could be seen under the armour, beneath the waist. Aerion wore a cape which covered his back and was just about short enough not to touch the ground. A black three-headed Dragon was engraved into the far right corner of the cape. A diagonal strap kept the cape connected to his armour. At the top of this strap was a silver dragon head, near the black Dragon.

Below him was the castle of Storm's End and an army of over a hundred thousand men laying camp around it. The army seemed to be preparing for a siege, as siege engines were being built.

Robert was prepared for a long siege, that much was certain. His army had enough food and supplies to last him an entire month. Aerion suspected that he'd try to finish the siege as quickly as possible by storming the castle. He was known for being an impulsive commander. But storming Storm's End wouldn't be easy due to its fortifications. The bridge assured that only a small fraction of the army could be attacking at once, a huge advantage for Aerion's severely outnumbered forces. Daemon could single-handedly fend off the army, but Robert doesn't know of the chimera's existence… not yet anyway.

Aerion landed on the ground and soon gained the attention of the entire camp. They were shocked at first but blades were drawn once they got over it. Aerion wasn't worried in the slightest. Dozens.. Hundreds… thousands of soldiers gathered round. Robert left his camp and walked through the huge crowd.

"What in Seven Hells are you all doing?"

"A man with silver hair… the sigil of House Targaryen." One of his closest men replied

He finally got to the front and saw Aerion for the first time since he'd been released by Tywin.

"It's been a while, Usurper."

"Dragonspawn, you still live… how?"

"Does it really matter? The only thing you need to know is that your death is fast approaching. I recommend that you make the most of these last days... for they won't last long."

An archer notched his arrow and its head was flying towards Aerion. Aerion's wind aura caught it in the air. Aerion aimed the arrow at the archer's head, he didn't miss. The archer's eye was pierced by the arrow and he dropped dead.

"What...?" One soldier moved back in disbelief. Did this man just stop the arrow and send it back... without touching it!?

"Who else? Come, try to strike down this King!"

Many of the soldiers tried, but they were killed instantly by a thousand cuts. Then, Aerion released his profound energy which heavily pressured the army... making the soldiers unable to move. Aerion flew up and arrogantly stated;

"You won't take Storm's End, Usurper, not in your wildest dreams! It belongs to me, Aerion Targaryen, now. Nothing you do will change that. You call Targaryens dragonspawns... if this is true, then what are you? Allow me to remind you, House Baratheon's ancestor was who? Ah yes, Orys Baratheon, the bastard brother of Aegon Targaryen! Your grandmother was a Targaryen... do you call her a dragonspawn too? Hell, do you call yourself a dragonspawn as well?"

"..." Robert couldn't respond, Aerion didn't let him.

"The next time we clash in battle will also be the last... I will spill your blood across the battlefield and subdue your entire army! Whether I must accomplish this by killing every single one of them or making them all bend... I will WIN this war."

Aerion swiftly disappeared and reappeared on the walls of Storm's End. Only once he was gone could the army move. He decided that he would hold the castle until his own army arrived. Then he will take the offensive and sweep the remaining soldiers of Robert's army.

Try your best, Usurper... I want to see you struggle.
