Targaryen Who Turned Dragon

Chapter 72 - Removing The Dragonpit

"Well, what do we do now?"

"Walk around, become aware of our surroundings." The Heavenly Fire Demon replied.

Sun Lin nodded. "I had a feeling it was something tiresome."

"You're such a sloth sometimes." Wei Ling stated.

The Dragonsguard left the room with their elder leading the way. Izanami and Tai Xia stayed inside.

Jon was patrolling Maegor's Holdfast, making sure there are no trespassers. The golden armour of the Kingsguard looked good on him and so did the white cape Aerion had given him. He was no longer an unknown knight as his fame skyrocketed when he placed second in melee and was granted the honour to serve as a Kingsguard.

He noticed a large group, five armed men and two women. All of them looked shockingly young and were well dressed. It was clear that they were not ordinary, especially the one with the white hair and scorching red eyes. Jon drew his sword and spoke confidently.

"Hold, intruders! Lay down your arms in the name of the King!"

"Who's this King?" Cap Rong asked.

"Aerion of the House Targaryen, first of His Name, King of the Andals, Rhoynar and First Men, Lord Of the Seven Kingdoms and the Protector of the Realm! His Grace is also King of the Stepstones and the Narrow Sea."

"We serve the same person, it seems. He returned most recently and brought us along." The Heavenly Fire Demon responded.

"Where is His Grace now?"

"In his bedchamber... he doesn't feel well, but you can see him."

"If this is true then perhaps you may know the Hand of the King."

"Is it Robb?"

"Yes, you know him?"

"He's the leader of this bunch, can you lead us to him?"

Jon nodded. "I can, it's a short walk from here."

~

"Lord Hand, urgent news."

Jon came into the hall from behind the Iron Throne, followed by the six Dragonsguard and their elder. Robb turned and his widened in surprise, the sudden event also drew the attention of the court.

"Ooo that's a huge throne... but quite an ugly one, I must say."

"Speak again and I'll burn your tongue." Fen Juecheng shut him up, Sun Lin talked the entire walk and he was getting tired of it.

"Hmph, children."

"His Grace has returned and this group of..."

"Dragonsguard." Tai Shu interrupted, or added... depends on how you view it.

"Arrived with him. That is what they claim, at the very least."

"What they claim is true. Excuse me for a moment."

Robb stood up and walked down to speak to his fellow Dragonsguard. He led them back out of the hall and questioned them further.

"Where is His Grace?"

"Aerion is currently resting in his chambers, he overused those eyes of his."

"It must have been something drastic, I suppose? My lord never thought of connecting both worlds together..."

"Master called it a tactical retreat, apparently the Saint Emperor was too strong." Sun Lin answered.

"Tactical retreat... Saint Emperor? We can talk about it later, Jon find them suitable accommodations."

"Very well, you seven follow me."

Robb sighed in relief, finally, I won't have to sit on that uncomfortable chair anymore.

"Aerion..."

It was the voice of Daenerys, Aerion knew. He made an internal sigh and decided to get it all over with.

"Who are they?" Margaery asked.

"I am his fiancée and she is his wife," Izanami answered for him.

"... Is this true?"

"Yes...?" Little Aurion said, unsure himself.

Despite being blind, Aerion almost laughed. He imagined Aurion tilting his head and wearing a face of confusion.

"Yes, Dany, it is the truth."

"Unbelievable!"

"And who are you two?" Tai Xia asked.

"I will clarify." Aerion announced grandly, temporary blindness wasn't going to diminish his charisma.

First, he explained the situation to Daenerys and Margaery. Then he stated who they were to Tai Xia and Izanami. Aerion almost felt like he was walking on eggshells. He cleverly talked his way into making the situation seem less of an issue. Still, the ladies didn't quite get along together. Which was to be expected.

"The child has the Blood of the Dragon and is your firstborn son. That makes him your heir..." Margaery stated.

Aerion coughed. "I haven't named any heirs yet and I do not intend to do so anytime soon."

It wasn't a lie, Aerion wanted to determine his heir in the future when all his children grow up.

"Since you took everyone with you, does that mean you will stay longer?" Daenerys asked.

"Yes, it does."

"Then something good came out of this... at the very least."

Eventually, Aerion managed to stitch things together. He swore to the Seven he wasn't bringing another wife anytime soon. There would be too much chaos and fatal consequences may come from it. He remembered in one story a king had three sons with three different wives and the wives ended up killing each other's sons. In the end, he ended up slaying all three wives in his fury and managed to save the last of his sons. A dark tale... Aerion didn't see any of his ladies committing such deeds but the story simply came to mind.

Everyone left Aerion and let him rest. He wasn't tired, of course, but no one needed to see a blind King. The recovery process was only going to be three days long as Aerion only used the basic Izanagi. He wanted to use Izanagi-No-Okami to potentially gain a new ability but decided against it, it would set him back a month or two. Aerion wasn't planning on passively training... no, not after that humiliating defeat. Even now, his blood boiled with never-ending rage.

Aerion walked into the hall, his eyes had fully recovered. One thing didn't recover however, he still thought of that loss to Rotias which sullied his mood. He couldn't smile even if he tried to. He walked to the throne and stood beneath its steps.

"Your Grace, the realm has dearly missed your grand presence! We are all filled with joy by your return." Mace announced.

"That is good to know. I would like to call for a small council meeting so that I may be informed of what has occurred while I was away. It starts in twenty minutes, I expect all of you to notify those who are not currently present. That is all for now."

Aerion left the Red Keep and flew to the Hill of Rhaenys. Upon it stood the Dragonpit or whatever remained of it, anyway. It was a grand ruin yet a waste of space. The dragons of House Targaryen used to dwell inside of it before it was destroyed by a couple thousand raging smallfolk. They killed the dragons below, who were inferior to their ancestors and unable to retaliate. Many Dragons died in the Dance of Dragons as well, which didn't help in keeping the noble species alive.

Never again will a dragon be caged...

Aerion separated the enormous Dragonpit from the ground with a vicious slash. Then he willed it to fly with his wind. He put it inside of the Sky Poison Pearl. Now, there was only one thing to do which was level the hill as it was filled with holes. That would be sorted in a few days. After removing the Dragonpit, Aerion returned to the Red Keep and waited for his Small Council members to arrive. He did not have to wait long as they gathered swiftly, most of them at least. One was missing and it was Duncan.

"I suppose Duncan is in the Stepstones?"

"He is, Your Grace." Robb answered.

"Alright then, let's begin with the state of the treasury."

Aerion looked at Kevan Lannister and he began to speak. "Since there was no debt to speak of, the treasury has been flowing with gold."

"How much gold, to be exact?"

"A grand sum of seven hundred thousand dragons. The last count was just a few days ago. Is there anything you wish to do with the gold, Your Grace?"

"Of course, I would like to use it to construct a keep atop the Hill of Rhaenys. It must be large enough to accommodate over a thousand men. Use around two hundred thousand dragons on that task. The rest is to be spent on expanding King's Landing. Build a long secondary wall, it does not need to be very tall, and then erect a few houses inside of the walls. That region will grow on its own after."

"It will be done, Your Grace."

"You have a grand vision, unlike Robert, it seems." Marwyn commented.

"What of the Dragonpit?" Stannis asked.

"Look outside when you have the time. I removed it."

"Removed...?"

His face was one of bewilderment. However, it did not last long as he remembered all the feats Aerion had accomplished... especially those he had demonstrated in his Reconquest. He was the closest thing to a God, many had said that countless times. Stannis is not a firm believer in the Seven, or any God for the matter, but the things Aerion did made him change his views.

"Moving on, I would like to know what Robert has been up to... out of interest."

"My little birds say that he has begun a new life and is doing as he pleases. He works as a sellsword and has gained a following through his actions. I must say, it seems that he received the honour of exile well."

"It was a blessing in disguise, I suppose."

~

After the Small Council was dismissed, Aerion got back to work. He rested in his bed and closed his eyes. The Dragon glanced down at him and smiled.

"No rest for the King?"

"I had three days of rest, three days more than I would have liked."

"You always put much effort towards growth but I haven't seen you like this before... it will be interesting to see how far you can go."

Aerion opened the gate and walked forward. He walked past the cloaked man, who wished him good luck, and continued up the stairs. First was Tywin, who was burned to death. His gold was graciously taken. Then Robert was impaled by Sky Piercer. Jaime and the Mountain followed soon after. Lastly, Rhaegar Targaryen. Aerion slayed him as well. He walked the final set of stairs with relative ease and was met with a gate at the very end.

Floor Eight.

He opened the gate and a new world appeared before him. At least, he expected a new world. It was an arena instead and he stood in the very centre. The audience all seemed to be quite noble... in appearance anyway. Aerion realised that he couldn't fly, the crowd laughed in amus.e.m.e.nt as a giant appeared and smacked him in the face... sending him to the wall.

Aerion spit out blood and brought out a giant of his own. A crimson one. Its eyes were golden and they glowed brightly. Its hands were empty until Aerion willed for a weapon to manifest. The Susanoo took Sky Piercer, surrounded it in its crimson aura and enlarged it to a suitable size.

It can do that? Impressive.

Purgatory.

With one horizontal slash, the long and mighty Sky Piercer cut the giant in half. The gold it dropped was taken in by the dungeon ring. Then a new challenger came through one of the gates. He looked unique... to say the least. A horned helmet, weirdly made sword and that strange set of armour. In three words, the man sent Aerion flying again.
