Targaryen Who Turned Dragon

Chapter 83 - Blue Wind Empire's New Overlord

Volume 8: Celestial Dragon Emperor

After the Four Great Sacred Grounds fell, a void of power was left in the Profound Sky Continent. The Divine Phoenix Empire was the first to fill this void... but not soon after, Aerion Targaryen, the Dragon, raised his banners and began to make the land his own starting with the Blue Wind Empire. This was not concerning at first, but after the show of strength in the Seven Nation Ranking Tournament, the real conflict began. The final victor of this conflict would decide the fate of the Profound Sky Continent for countless millennia to come... who was it going to be?

...

Despite all efforts, Oldtown was still in a bad state. However, despite its low population, it looked rather lively. Some of the civilians had made their return… slowly but surely, Oldtown would return to how it once was. Aerion decided that he would earn some money himself in order to aid the Noble Rogue Sect and Oldtown.

What to do… perhaps I should restart my reforging business, that one is the most profitable with the least effort required. But, I could also take wealth by force. That would be the easiest way.

"You can conquer the Seven Nations." The Heavenly Fire Demon stated.

"I could."

"Then do it. You don't owe the Blue Wind Emperor anything, the fool didn't even help in a time of need. You could still grant the Blue Wind Imperial Family a noble status in your Empire, which would probably be a far more prestigious position, if you feel guilty about taking his throne."

"You're right about that."

And I would be the first to unite the Profound Sky Continent under one banner, my banner… I believe it's time I gained a royal title in this world.

~

Aerion woke the next day, slightly tired from last night. *Cough*

I'm quicker, it would seem.

Aerion left his chambers and asked one of the servants to inform the Dragonsguard of a rally. He planned to travel to the Blue Wind Imperial City and introduce himself as Emperor. Such an act will raise uproar, this goes without question, but no one will be able to do anything. Aerion planned to be somewhat lenient and simply demote Cang Wanhe to the rank of King. He would still be granted the honour of ruling over the Blue Wind Empire, only difference being that Aerion is above him. Aerion could just relax and overrule things he disagrees with.

Aerion went over to one of the rooms intended for cultivation and started doing some training himself. He felt a little bit rusty, having not participated in any type of battle for a whole three months.

Hopefully this facility can handle my power…

Crimson Demon Wave.

Bang.

The wall took it surprisingly well, even though I held back… most have been the Heavenly Fire Demon's doing.

"Doing some training, Aerion?" The door opened and Izanami came through it.

"How did you know I was here?"

"You are hard to miss, a servant told me."

"I see. Care to join me? I'll be gentle."

"How gentle?"

"Emperor Profound… or something like that."

"Hmph, don't underestimate me."

Aerion smiled. "Go on, show me what you can do."

Aerion took some random spear from the weapon rack as Blackfyre was a tad bit too strong. It would have sliced through Izanami's sword on the first clash. He tested the spear for a few seconds and was satisfied with its speed.

"A spear?"

"Why not? This is a training session… I can try new things."

The room grew silent as Izanami and Aerion prepared for the spar. Aerion seemed relaxed while Izanami was a bit more determined. Then it began.

Izanami started with lightning fast attacks, attempting to get closer to Aerion. But he managed to keep his distance and block every strike. He remembered all the fighters who used the spear and how they did it. Slowly but surely, he started to understand the spear more and this could clearly be seen from his stance. He started to thrust more which forced Izanami to go on the defensive.

Izanami noticed the change and backed away. Aerion was clearly gaining the advantage.

"What's wrong?"

Ice started to form around Aerion, attempting to seal him. He took flight and escaped the ice. Then he noticed that Izanami was above him, ready to end the spar with an overhead slash. Aerion blocked her katana with the shaft of the spear. She took one arm away from the katana and formed lightning. She aimed to strike Aerion… but it was no good. Aerion cancelled it out with some wind. He grabbed her arm which ensured that she wouldn't do anything else… her other hand moved the katana to the side, away from the spear, and it was preparing to strike Aerion's neck. Aerion was going to block the katana with the spear point but the sword went past it.

Slash.

Izanami's sword stopped at his neck. It simply couldn't cut through. But she won.

"You surprised me there."

Such a move requires great skill, but it never would've worked if I had used a halberd.

"Your gradual improvement was far more impressive. Again."

It wasn't a question, it was more of a command.

Izanami expects great diligence during a sparring session, as usual... I like that, even if it's not that necessary.

"So what is this rally about?" Sun Lin asked, towards no one in particular.

"How should we know? We were told to wait patiently… and that's all." Mo Yi replied.

"Elder, would you happen to know anything about this?" Fen Juecheng inquired.

"Hmm… I have an idea. But I'd rather not spoil the surprise."

"That is fine, we can wait."

Aerion entered the hall an hour or so later. He seemed to be a bit tired but it wasn't very apparent. Everyone stood up from their chairs and waited for him to sit down. They had picked up a few courtesies, it would seem. Aerion sat down and so did the Dragonsguard, shortly after.

"Thank you all for waiting so patiently. Now, then, let us proceed. As we all know, the Blue Wind Empire has been a laughingstock for quite some time now. The Blue Wind Imperial Family itself is a… joke. They couldn't even scr.a.p.e the top one hundred in the Blue Wind Ranking Tournament. As a monarch myself, I find this fact rather embarrassing."

Aerion poured some wine into his cup. "What I intend to do is change this once and for all… and I will do it by becoming Emperor myself!"

"Woah… so that will make us royal guards?"

"Yes, it will." Aerion answered Sun Lin's question.

"Is that all you care about? We would gain access to the treasury which should be more than enough to get Oldtown back on its feet..." Tai Shu stated.

"So what will happen to the Blue Wind Imperial Family? Some people would be against the change and might even resist it."

"Ah, that shouldn't be a problem. The Blue Wind Imperial Family will still remain as monarchs over the Blue Wind Empire… the only difference being that I will be Emperor and Cang Wanhe will be King."

"That would work, if the Emperor is willing." Cai Rong replied.

"He will accept my proposal… one way or another."

Anyways, it's not that bad of a proposal.

After a few minutes of discussing the topic, Aerion announced that they would be leaving today. This was a surprise but it was one that was well received. The Dragonsguard were tired of doing the same thing over and over again which was training. They could finally leave the confines of the Noble Rogue Sect and fly free.

"All of you have a few hours to get ready. Don't go overboard, we won't be away for too long."

"YES, YOUR IMPERIAL MAJESTY!"

Your Imperial Majesty… intriguing.

~

The Blue Wind Imperial City, the very core of the Blue Wind Empire. It was the usual in the largest city of the Blue Wind Empire, an ordinary day some would say. A few prosperous individuals were looking around in the branch of the Black Moon Merchant Guild, disciples were busy with their cultivation and the Eighteen Flower Pavilions were open as customary. Then a Crimson Dragon erupted forth and pierced the sky.

The Blue Wind Imperial City seemed to darken as the Crimson Dragon ominously loomed over it. Once the people noticed that the light provided by the sun was gone, they began to panic.

Aerion looked down and noticed that the courtyards are too small… laughably so. Rhaegal would end up breaking a good portion of the Imperial Palace if he were to land, which isn't a great thing.

"We are going to have to fly down ourselves."

"Grea-"

Rhaegal returned to the Sky Poison Pearl and the group started to fall down to the Imperial Palace. Of course, they got hold of their feet with relative ease since they were all Emperor Profound and above. Aerion landed on the courtyard that was closest to the throne room.

"Intruders, and they can fly!"

"Sky profound… man, I don't get paid enough for this job."

A group of guards gathered around but they didn't seem very confident. Some of their weapons were shaking and not too far from dropping to the floor. From the sun being covered by a colossal dragon to a group of sky profound intruders. Aerion drew the mighty Sky Piercer from his Sky Poison Pearl.

"What a cold greeting… oh well, I would be pleased if you would all step aside."

"No… we fight for His Majesty, the… the… Emperor!"

One of the guards shook his head. "Fools, that is Aerion Targaryen! He is a friend of the Emperor."

"Oh… it's him."

"Damn rookies! Pardon me for their transgressions."

"There's no need for that, everyone makes mistakes once in a while."

"What is the reason for your visit, if I may ask?"

Aerion returned Sky Piercer to the Sky Poison Pearl. "I wish to meet with the Emperor."

"Ah, you might have to wait a while for me to confirm it with His Majesty an-"

"I don't think that will be necessary."

Aerion activated his sharingan, this was a good time to test out the new power he had gained. Blood trickled down his right eye, slowly but surely.

"All of you, run around the courtyard until further notice."

"That's easy."

The guards started to run around the courtyard.

"Master, how did you do that?" Fen Juecheng asked.

"That is a secret of mine, let's proceed."

Aerion cleaned the blood that had come out of his eye.

Makes me bleed and uses some profound energy… how unpleasant.

They entered the halls of the Imperial Palace and walked towards the throne room. Aerion remembered the layout of the palace from his previous visit so it didn't take very long. They walked in an orderly manner and the guards patrolling the halls were more kind as they knew who Aerion was.

"Aerion Targaryen, welcome, but I do not believe that you are scheduled to have an audience with His Majesty, the Emperor, at this current moment."

"I would like to disagree."

Aerion released his profound energy, which had pressured the hopeless guards into bending their knees in submission. They couldn't move even if they wanted to. Aerion chuckled.

Not quite as amusing as making them run around but far more efficient. The traditional way is still the best way, it would seem.

"A…h... too… strong…"

"How pitiful." Tai Shu remarked.

Aerion walked past them, followed by the Dragonsguard.

The royal guards inside of the throne room fell victim to Aerion's pressuring profound energy as well, the moment he had entered.

"What is the meaning of this!?"

"I, Aerion Targaryen, the First of My Name have come here to vassalise the Blue Wind Empire! Submit to me, Emperor Cang Wanhe, and you may live… or perish and be replaced by someone more suitable. These are your two options."

Aerion walked closer to the throne.

" Oh, so cold… I would like to know, what are the other terms of your first offer?"

"You will act as sovereign over the Blue Wind Kingdom, previously known as the Blue Wind Empire, in my name. I will be its true Overlord, going by the title Emperor, but play no part in ruling it, unless I find such an act necessary. In return for your loyalty, I shall assist in strengthening the Blue Wind Kingdom and increasing its stature among the Seven Nations. If any other Nation dares to invade then I shall take action and defend these... my lands. Even if that Nation happens to be the Divine Phoenix Empire."

"You are a saint, indeed!" The Blue Wind Emperor laughed. The offer was far more beneficial for the Blue Wind Empire than Aerion. The only thing the Blue Wind Emperor would have to give up is some independence.

"But before I accept, I wish to know your ultimate goal.... Aerion Targaryen. Also, those rumours… were you the one who put an end to the Saint Emperor?"

"The unification of the World. Not just the Blue Wind Empire, Profound Sky Continent or Blue Pole Star... I aim to unify every single planet, plane and realm under my banner! And yes… I made short work of the Saint Emperor."

"Such ambition can only lead to disappointment, death or glory… very well! I accept your offer."

"I appreciate your wisdom, King Cang Wanhe. Announce this news to the rest of the Blue Wind Kingdom. Oh, and fund the reconstruction of Oldtown. That is all you need to do."

Aerion turned around and began to make his way out.

"Shouldn't there be a celebration in your name?"

"Hmm, I suppose there should be... but it is not necessary."

"I understand."

How the boy has grown in such a short period of time… even then, he was extraordinary… but now he stands on a realm of his own. He even dismissed the Divine Phoenix Empire as a potential threat… it is as they say, he was sent down from the Heavens. But for what reason? I have no idea…

By the time Cang Wanhe was done thinking, Aerion and his Dragonsguard had already left. They had other matters to settle.
