Targaryen Who Turned Dragon

Chapter 87 - Misunderstanding

"I am Aerion Targaryen. And you must be…"

Aerion answered, calmly as he observed the girl before him.

Feng Xue'er… Sovereign Profound 1!?

Eh!?

Aerion's jaw almost dropped from shock. Her cultivation strength was truly earth-shattering, especially when you considered her age. Not even the Four Great Sacred Grounds had anyone nearly as talented. Not only that, but she was a direct interior of the Phoenix!

So my assumptions rang true, she is the Snow Princess of the Divine Phoenix Empire. To think that I had accidentally trespassed into her sacred sanctuary. Well, it wasn't my fault at all… that foolish ring was the cause of this. The air here is perfect for cultivation, maybe the ring was looking out for me.

"Princess Feng Xue'er. Forgive me for trespassing, I did not intend to do so…"

"It's alright, you can stay for a little."

"Really? I am truly grateful… but why for a little?"

"My royal father will come eventually and if he sees you then…"

Aerion understood what she meant. "Don't worry about that, I am an escape artist… even if he does, I doubt he can do much."

"How come?"

"I surpass him in strength by leaps and bounds, but I would rather not get into a conflict with the Divine Phoenix Empire…"

"You must really be strong then. My Royal father recently broke through to the Sovereign Profound Realm by using some of the Absolute Monarch Sanctuary's resources… do you know what happened to the Four Great Sacred Grounds? Their fall was so sudden..."

"Hm, you're asking the right person. The Saint Emperor of the Absolute Monarch Sanctuary laid waste to the other three sacred grounds after he achieved a breakthrough into the Divine Origin Realm. He sacrificed all of his subordinate monarchs in order to further his own cultivation when I encountered him. I had to run away… then I came back after a few months of training and imprisoned him."

"The Saint Emperor… you are stronger than him?"

"Yeah." Aerion casually replied.

Such a thing was unimaginable… the Saint Emperor was the Overlord of the Profound Sky Continent, his mere steps would make people quiver in fear. The moment he would step into an Emperor's territory, they would generously greet him without fail. Because if he was displeased with anything, one can expect certain doom. Once he had visited the Divine Phoenix Empire and it was truly an uncertain time all of a sudden. At any moment, the Divine Phoenix Sect could have vanished into the Saint Emperor's flames. But they survived… somehow.

Aerion drew his sword and summoned a Sword Spirit Doppelganger. Yes, it was a trash skill but it had one use… self-harm! One of the best, if not the best, ways to cultivate. Especially if you have insane regenerative abilities.

The clone wasted no time, instantly attacking. Aerion stepped to the side but the clone was quick to attack again. Aerion used Star God's Broken Shadow to get behind him and counter-attack. But the clone blocked the strike.

How annoying…

PURGATORY.

Both activated Purgatory and began to fight faster than ever before. Each strike compelled both Heaven and Earth to tremble in fear. The sky became their battlefield… no one even dared to fly up there and see what was actually happening. The elders of the Divine Phoenix Sect awakened and began to speculate that the Saint Emperor himself returned to punish them, since that was the only explanation. They exchanged blows for a whole minute… then Heaven's punishment arrived for using Purgatory along with the Sword Spirit Doppelganger.

Aerion slowly landed on the Phoenix Perching Valley and laid down on the grass. He started the process of recovering his strength. Once recovered, he intended to do the same thing over and over again until he broke through. The clone had displayed his Phoenix flames more than once in their duel… Aerion sighed, that couldn't be helped.

Now she is going to question where I got the Phoenix Bloodline from… hmm, it could be better or for worse. Honestly, the Divine Phoenix Empire doesn't have the strength to do anything about it but accept it.

"Wow… Big Brother Aerion is really strong!"

Big Brother…?

Aerion felt confused and awkward at the same time.

~

Feng Hengkong started sweating profusely while sitting on his throne. The disturbance had even forced the elders to wake and gather. The level of strength needed to cause such an uproar could only be possessed by the Saint Emperor. They had laid waste to his Absolute Monarch Sanctuary… a grave indeed, so they all suspected that he had come to do the same to them. Or.. perhaps it was the person who had apparently slain him.

"He's not dead… he's not dead… the Saint Emperor is not dead...we are all going to die..." An elder started muttering in fear.

"The profound energy… it's directly above the Phoenix Perching Valley. Xue'er… we must immediately make our way there, no matter what!"

Feng Zukui shook his head. "We must not displease the Saint Emperor, that would be the end of all of us! He is a merciless and bloodthirsty man. Give him one excuse and he will scorch the entire Sect! Feng Xue'er is the future… but she isn't worth risking the entire Sect for. Thousands of years would go up in smoke, just like that!"

The elders agreed but Feng Hengkong did not stand down. "Then send a few cloaked guards to investigate... at least, we must confirm our suspicions and know the Saint Emperor's intentions."

They agreed on this and so, a few guards were sent to investigate the Phoenix Perching Valley.

Aerion realized that there were a few eavesdroppers. He smiled, it was better to handle the problem sooner than later. The Divine Phoenix Emperor would come one day… Aerion planned to intimidate him with sheer strength, but Feng Xue'er had a better idea.

"Father is probably worried so would it not be better to clear the clouds and let him know that I am safe?"

Aerion nodded. If he were weaker, then this wouldn't be ideal. But Aerion's strength far surpasses the Sovereign Profound Realm so he doesn't have to worry about the Feng Hengkong. The guards eventually went away.

"Your Majesty, this humble servant could only see Her Royal Highness, Feng Xue'er, and a silver-haired youth. His eyes were purple… more importantly, it looked like Her Royal Highness was safe. The youth seemed to be injured…"

The words youth and safe seemed to ease the tension. Feng Hengkong frowned. "Then who was it that released such frightening profound energy?"

"This humble servant does not know… but it is likely to be the youth."

The Divine Phoenix Emperor erupted from his throne.

"Do you take me for a fool!?"

"No... Your Majesty, forgive this humble servant. I was only..."

"HMPH. I shall go there myself!"

"Then we will have to go as well... just in case." One of the elders replied.

Feng Zukui sighed and followed Feng Hengkong along with the other elders. They flew to the Phoenix Perching Valley in haste, arriving in a few minutes. They did, indeed, see a silver-haired youth with their dear Feng Xue'er. Feng Hengkong was the first to land and he was joined by ten mighty elders. They drew their weapons.

"Identify yourself!"

Aerion struggled to stand up but he managed. He stood tall and proud, despite his current state. He smiled. "I am Aerion Targaryen, the First of My Name, King of the Andals, the Rhoynar, and the First Men, King of the Stepstones and the Narrow Sea, the Sword of the Warrior, Father of Dragons, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, and Protector of the Realm!"

"What is this junior on? He might not be well."

"Aerion Targaryen, I might have heard of that name before..."

"Hmph. Move away from Xue'er immediately or there will be severe consequences."

Aerion didn't move but Feng Xue'er did. "Father, there is no need..."

Once they were separated, Feng Hengkong gave the order.

"Now, then, you can die!"

Damn it.

Aerion was attacked from all sides... he used Star God's Broken Shadow to escape into the sky while they spent a few moments confused as to what happened. Feng Xue'er tried to stop the elders and her father but they didn't listen. They saw him as some peak Tyrant brat who had stumbled upon the wrong place, nothing more and nothing less.

"So there were severe consequences either way... I would like to ask, who are you to threaten this young Emperor!?"

Aerion's aura began to surge with killing intent and a tone of supreme authority. But they still charged him nevertheless. Aerion dodged their attacks with grace and started to mock their inability to hit him once. They all started to realise the difference in strength between themselves and Aerion. Zukui blasted him with Phoenix Flames, which was the first actual hit.

"PHOENIX FLAMES SEARS THE HEAVENS!!!"

BOOM.

"Hahahaha..." Aerion started to laugh in a mocking tone. "Is that all you can do?"

There was a scratch or two on his body from the attack, but that was all. Not a single drop of his blood was drawn. This... was truly shocking. Feng Zukui was the strongest person in the Profound Sky Continent now since the Four Great Sacred Grounds had fallen, yet he couldn't even draw this youth's blood with his greatest attack!

Feng Zukui was shocked, he couldn't believe it. This shock and disbelief soon turned into pure, undiluted fear.

"Let me show you how it's done..."

Empyrean Dance of the Phoenix Wing.

A huge Phoenix appeared in the sky, soaring the Heavens. Then it was sent down by Aerion, directly towards Feng Zukui. The Phoenix Flames exploded all around him, burning his life away. Aerion froze the Phoenix flames just in time since he didn't want to create any animosity between himself and the Divine Phoenix Empire. Feng Zukui fell to the ground, unconscious and burnt like a steak.

The elders backed away and began to tremble in fear of the youth before them.

"Feng Hengkong... I remember you said I can die? Why don't you die?"

Aerion appeared in front of him, with Blackfyre raised to his neck.

"Big Brother Aerion... please, don't!"

Tch.

Aerion sheathed Blackfyre. "I expect some sort of compensation. Hmm..."

"F... forgive me, I didn't know... this Emperor was being foolish..."

"You owe me a favour, how about that?"

The Emperor looked at Aerion, seemingly surprised how simple his compensation was. "Just a favour?"

"Yes... just a favour. That isn't too much, is it?"

"No... not at all. But may I know what you are doing here?"

"About that, I accidentally stumbled upon this place and..."

Feng Xue'er helped Aerion explain the situation.

"I told him to stay. Little did I know, Big Brother Aerion was really strong and an inheritor of the Phoenix Legacy! Isn't that wonderful?"

"Eh..." He turned to Aerion. "So you had no ill intents?"

"None at all." Aerion shook his head.

"It was all a misunderstanding then..."

"Can Big Brother Aerion stay?" Feng Xue'er asked her Royal Father.

He gnashed his teeth, relaxing moments later. Then he sighed. "He may."

The Divine Phoenix Sect elders and Feng Henkong left shortly after.
