Targaryen Who Turned Dragon

Chapter 88 - Making It Snow

BANG. BANG. BANG.

Finally….

After fighting himself days on end, the breakthrough had finally come to him. The prestigious and almighty Sovereign Profound Realm… currently, in the Profound Sky Continent, he was the only monarch outside of the Divine Phoenix Sect. He felt a surge of new-found strength surge through his profound veins. With it, he easily overpowered his old clone who had not done so.

Begone... Star Scorching Demon Lotus!

"Xue'er never saw that profound skill before... what is it?" She asked, rather excitedly.

Aerion flew down. "You don't have the fifth and sixth stages of the World Ode... it would seem. It was the Star Scorching Demon Lotus, the sixth stage. If you want, I could teach it to you..."

"Please do so."

"Very well."

It shouldn't be too hard.

Feng Xue'er learnt the profound skills swiftly, with ease. This would also mean that, eventually, the Divine Phoenix Sect would get their hands on the fifth and sixth stages from Xue'er which was great for them. Their power would no doubt increase even further… not that it matters.

In some ways, Xue'er was a child, especially when it came to snow. Usually, it only snowed in the northern side of the Divine Phoenix Empire but there was a time where snow had come to the Divine Phoenix City and that was when Xue'er was just thirteen years old. Since she was so beautiful, some claimed that she was the number one beauty in the Profound Sky Continent… at thirteen.

Since she loved snow so much, Aerion felt that it was only right to make it snow with his ice arts.

"Big Brother Aerion… what are you going to do?"

"Just watch…"

He looked up at the sky and activated his own Frozen Cloud Arts. Both wind and water fused into the sky under the assistance of his profound energy. The fusion resulted in snow… a whole lot of it. Aerion had made it snow in the Phoenix Perching Valley and the area surrounding it, which included the Divine Phoenix City. It was beautiful, indeed!

"It's snow… it's really snow!"

Aerion opened his palm and watched as it was slowly covered by snow. Then he made fire emerge on his palm. The fire burned the snow away… Aerion looked in the direction of Feng Xue'er and shrugged, he couldn't quite understand her fascination with snow.

Meanwhile, Feng Xue'er was jumping around in excitement as the snow began to settle. She was truly worthy of the name 'Princess Snow'. It looked like she was at home… Aerion couldn't help but smile seeing her acting so cheerfully.

"I'll dance for you, okay?"

Dance…?

It didn't seem to be a question since Aerion didn't get a proper chance to answer. She danced on her own accord. Aerion simply watched. The dance was truly spectacular… something that Aerion would find difficult to forget. Every step was graceful and every laugh heavenly. Aerion found himself breathless on a few occasions…she danced until it stopped snowing, which was a really long time.

Aerion calmed his heart when the dance came to a close. "That was… beautiful."

"I'm glad Big Brother Aerion liked it… could you make a little bit more snow?" She asked, rather sweetly.

Eh, she's not tired!?

Aerion nodded, he simply couldn't reject such an offer. "Sure."

"Aerion Targaryen… the Overlord of the Blue Wind Empire…" The Divine Phoenix Emperor sat on his throne, in deep thought. He never quite paid attention to the weakest nation… yet this one talent was able to make him do so. From the knowledge gathered by his subjects, he found out that Aerion Targaryen, formerly Jun Long, was a transcendent talent who came from nothing and rose to fame during the Blue Wind Ranking Tournament. His true origins were unknown. Then he became Emperor two years later… a few months before the Saint Emperor had disappeared.

The rumours were most likely true… he was the one to slay the Saint Emperor!

How glad the Divine Phoenix Emperor was that the tyrannical and ruthless Saint Emperor was replaced by someone more temperate and understanding. The Profound Sky Continent was in good hands, indeed.

Time passed, as it usually would. The Seven Nations Ranking Tournament was only a few days away so Aerion made preparations. He hoped that the Dragonsguard made it safely to the Divine Phoenix City… it was unlikely for them to come into any sort of trouble with the Heavenly Fire Demon guarding them.

Aerion was chilling and conversing with Feng Xue'er when Feng Hengkong arrived at the Phoenix Perching Valley. He would come once in a while during Aerion's stay but this visit seemed to be a little bit different… it had a different purpose.

"You haven't heard, have you? The Seven Nation Ranking Tournament has been shortened, due to a change in the profound arc. Now it will only last a day."

"A day? How brilliant… thank you for personally telling me."

"I haven't come for you. Xue'er, how are you today?"

Oh… right. He doesn't let anyone but himself and Feng Xue'er inside of the Phoenix Perching Valley. So he could only send himself… a protective father, indeed. But because of his actions, Xue'er didn't have many chances to socialise with others. Which is precisely why she may come off as childish sometimes.

"Better than usual since Big Brother Aerion helped me breakthrough to the second stage of Sovereign Profound Realm!"

"You did?" Feng Hengkong looked at Aerion.

"Yeah, I did."

"Then you might not be so bad… I thank you for helping Xue'er, her second step into the Sovereign Profound Realm should have taken far longer. Heh, you might be the one person who is worthy."

Worthy? Aerion had a few speculations on what he had truly meant, but he kept those speculations to himself.

It was the day of the Seven Nation Tournament. Aerion's hair was trimmed a bit, to medium length. The long hair was getting a bit tiresome… it will re-grow anyway. Aerion donned a set of clothing from Westeros, of course, it bore the colours and arms of House Targaryen. The robes were mostly black with red being its secondary colour. The red three-headed dragon truly stood out, as it should. There was some gold in there as well to spice up the outfit.

"Feng Xue'er… this is farewell, I had a wonderful time. Every dance was elegant, graceful and truly unforgettable." Aerion chuckled. "You may have introduced the wonders of snow to me… I find it more appealing now, yet I do not know why. Anyway, I must take leave for the Divine Phoenix City in order to witness the Seven Nation Ranking Tournament. Take this as a farewell gift… it's a special rose that grows in the North of where I come from. In the North, it always snows, even in the summer."

Aerion presented her with a winter rose. It had the colour of frost, which was close enough to actual snow. He had ordered a few during his reign since it was rather significant to him. When he looked at a winter rose, he would always wonder why his father risked everything and left with Lyanna Stark.

"Wow… what a beautiful rose! I have never seen anything like it…" She grasped the rose softly yet tightly. "But, Big Brother Aerion doesn't have to worry about the Seven Nation Ranking Tournament because Xue'er will be spectating as well."

"Eh? But I thought…"

"Father allowed it."

Interesting, it would be a wasted opportunity if he didn't… all seven nations will be participating, after all. He will get to flaunt the strength of his Divine Phoenix Sect and the beauty of his daughter. Surely, no other nation could compete with those two things?

"Then I shall see you there, Xue'er."

Aerion turned around.

"Thank you for everything, Big Brother Aerion!"

He smiled and flew away to the Divine Phoenix City, where the Seven Nation Ranking Tournament was to be held.

The announcement that the Seven Nation Ranking Tournament would only be a day long definitely made the crowd dissatisfied and caused some uproar. Everyone was settled by then, some had to travel for many weeks to arrive at the Divine Phoenix City… just to see a single day worth of fights, instead of five? It was easy to understand why such a simple thing caused an uproar.

"In every single match, all profound practitioners of the two sides must participate!"

The Divine Phoenix Sect's Great Elder stated how this would be possible. The Dragonsguard were extremely satisfied with the result since they had all practised team strategies. Robb relaxed and laughed. "I won't be going out early then."

Tai Shu shook his head. "I don't think you would have anyway. Most of the other nations are composed of Sky Profound and low Emperor Profound cultivators… you can definitely stand your ground against them."

Fen Juecheng looked at the Divine Phoenix Sect's participants. "They are the real competition… every other participant is an afterthought. We must claim first place in the name of our Master, every other result would simply be considered a failure."

Daenerys scanned the crowd once again and couldn't see Aerion, she sighed. "Where is he?"

"Quit worrying, princess. Aerion will come eventually." Izanami stated.

"... Are there any objections?"

There weren't any, even if there were, they weren't voiced out.

"None… very well! Then I shall declare that Profound Sky Continent's thirty-ninth Seven Nation Ranking Tournament has officially begun!"

"Woah… look at that!"

The strength of the announcement seemed to have weakened the moment something else stole all the attention. A silver-haired youth with beautiful lilac eyes and the bearings of a true Emperor. If there was ever a vote for Profound Sky Continent's most handsome and charming man, then he would no doubt be number one! This became clear the moment he appeared and gracefully took his seat which was surprisingly next to the Divine Phoenix Emperor! The empty seat did cause some discussions… and now the question was, at long last, answered.

"He is so... heavenly…" All of the women shared the same opinion, how could a man be so perfect?

The crowd from the Blue Wind Kingdom cheered since they all knew who it was.

There were only 3 seats at the very top, Feng Xue'er's, Feng Hengkong's and… now Aerion's.

"This… just who is he to gain such respect from the Divine Phoenix Emperor?"

"Emperor Aerion Targaryen, why, of course! Our Emperor is truly great!"

Aerion sat down and the crowd grew silent.

"Forgive this young Emperor for coming late, I had a few matters to settle. I hope that my arrival hasn't disturbed the tournament much. Anyway, now that I am here, the Seven Nation Tournament can truly begin!"
