Targaryen Who Turned Dragon

Chapter 97 - Golden Crow’s Record of the Burning World

That was the 500th time. Aerion laid down and wiped the sweat off his forehead. This sort of thing was hard work, even to Aerion who had the body of a True Dragon. He found himself being drained of his energy with every 'release'. Huan Caiyi was in a similar state, if not worse...

"This noble one is impressed with the speed at which you two completed the task. It only took thirty days... impressed is simply an understatement! From my observations, it would seem that a dragon's stamina is truly one of a kind, hahahahaha!"

Aerion slowed down his breathing and began to recover. "So... is it done?"

"Of course, now her body will no longer be negatively affected by the Golden Crow's flames due to the Phoenix vital Yang energy you have provided."

Huan Caiyi was swept away by golden flames. Aerion glanced at the divine spirit. "What are you doing now?"

"She will need time to comprehend the Golden Crow's Record of the Burning World and refine nine drops of origin blood. This noble one believes that it is best if she does this in isolation, without any distractions."

Good point, I suppose.

"Now it is time that I bestow you, Aerion of the mighty House Targaryen, with the Golden Crow's Legacy!"

Golden flames enclosed him and he felt the origin blood enter his profound veins, one by one. The divine spirit also bestowed him with some of its soul as well along with the Golden Crow's Record of the Burning World. Which would, in turn, make him a complete inheritor. Aerion closed his eyes and started to refine the twelve drops of origin blood and soul, it was not a difficult task thanks to his supreme affinity towards fire. Being a Targaryen, having the Heretic God's fire seed and the Fire Dragon God's complete inheritance on top of that... no fire in this world could possibly harm him.

Once he was done with refining the origin blood, Aerion proceeded towards comprehending the Golden Crow's Record of the Burning World. For a second, he questioned why Aerios had never given him a profound art which corresponds to his Ghost flame. Without a profound art, the Ghost flames cannot be utilised properly and so, its strength is wasted.

Could it be that... he wanted me to make my own profound art? Or, did he never require profound skills so he had never bothered to make any. Either way, the Fire Dragon Ancestral God has made things difficult for me. Creating a profound art simply cannot be compared with comprehending one... its two completely different things.

The divine spirit moved Aerion to the sea of flames, where the fire would aid him. Aerion calmed his mind and entered a perfect state of meditation, one that he rarely ever entered. The first two stages were mere foundations so they had no profound skills tied to them, Aerion swiftly proceeded to the third stage. He didn't feel the passage of time... his mind was fully focused on meditation. The third, fourth and fifth stages were all comprehended shortly after. The sixth and, especially, the seventh stages were a bit more difficult. Once he finished comprehending all seven stages, his violet eyes opened.

"Jasmine, how much time has passed?"

...

There was no answer.

"Jasmine... are you sleeping?"

"Your sins are... unforgivable!"

What sins? Oh... that. I don't believe what I did counts as a sin... it could fall under l.u.s.t, but I didn't do it out of l.u.s.t.

"What sins?"

"You can't even admit it, hmph! You finally showed your true colours... s.e.x fiend!"

Ah? S.e.x fiend...

"Jasmine, I did what I had to do for my wife-to-be... you can understand that, right?"

"S.e.x fiend... devil spawn, ugh, just the mere sight of you sickens me!"

Aerion sighed. "Whatever."

He put on some clothes and entered the Sky Poison Pearl. He took out a bunch of divine origin profound cores and gave them all to his pets. This made Little Rhae jealous and she started asking for a snack as well. She only eats swords... so Aerion took out three divine origin swords and placed them in front of her.

I've been a little bit neglectful...

"Thank you, Big Brother!"

Sky Piercer is lucky to be forged a halberd... otherwise, he wouldn't have lived this long.

Aerion asked the same question again. "Jasmine, how much time has passed?"

"Fifteen days."

"Not bad..."

It's time I test out these new flames of mine.

Aerion closed his eyes and entered the dungeon, the eighth floor to be precise. His new cultivation strength of Sovereign Profound 5, which was gained through dual-cultivation and the origin blood, meant that his battle power was greater than ever before. The Divine Origin Realm lynxes and lions could no longer even be considered obstacles, he burned them all instantly with his Golden Crow flame and collected their goods. The amount of gold and profound cores he was earning was simply absurd.

Then he met that lightning tiger again. Instantly, he opened the gate of Silver Calamity.

"Begone." He coldly commanded.

Golden Annihilation.

The tiger was incinerated by the majestic golden flames of the Golden Crow. Then, Aerion heard a few footsteps and he could already guess who it was.

"My, my, you've returned."

"Hmm, you can turn to ashes as well."

"Uh?"

Red Purgatory Lotus!

The girl disappeared from his sight just as quickly as she appeared. Aerion gazed at his palm, where a medium-size golden flame danced from side to side. It was a beautiful, yet destructive flame. Aerion realised that the flame was superior to his Phoenix flame but it was, naturally, inferior to the Ghost flame. But he had no profound art for it, so, for now, the Golden Crow flame was the best flame to use in combat.

Aerion proceeded forward... well, downwards. He was surprised to find five tigers of the Divine Soul Realm waiting for him. They were all in the lower stages from the first realm to the third... dealing with them should be no issue. Aerion formed his crimson Susanoo and began to charge up the seventh stage of the Golden Crow's Record of the Burning World. His absolute shield was able to fend off all ten tigers while he came closer and closer to forming his attack.

"Now, all of you, burn!"

Yellow Springs Ashes!

The tigers disappeared, leaving nothing but gold and their profound cores. Aerion harvested both and smiled, satisfied with his new strength.

I wonder, what is the ultimate prize of finishing this floor?

Aerion continued down and it would seem that he found light one again. It was probably artificial but it looked real enough. The first thing he saw was a small village with about ten households. The auras of its people lingered between the later stages of the Divine Origin Realm to the late stages of the Divine Soul Realm which meant that Aerion couldn't make any hasty actions or he would be in quite a heap of trouble. Instead, he decided to explore.

"You there!"

Aerion observed the person who had noticed him. Aerion instantly cursed his luck.

Divine Soul nine...

"Yes?"

"You have some guts to kill our beasts... now, it is time for you to atone for your sins!"

Aerion would simply stand no chance, and he knew that. So he ran. There seemed to be a white building which shined brightly under the sun but its entrance was a bit unorthodox. It reminded him of all the trial grounds he had entered.

Star God's Broken Shadow.

Aerion left four afterimages which distracted the elder and proceeded to the white, marble, building. Upon touching it, the entrance opened and pulled him inside. Then the entrance was instantly closed. Aerion breathed a sigh of relief and looked around. The interior was simple and it only had two residents, excluding Aerion. A White Tiger and an elderly man cloaked in white. The elderly man frowned at the appearance of Aerion. The White Tiger glanced at him for a few moments and it looked like it had no intentions of doing anything. The elderly man stepped forward and lightning began to form at his palm.

"You..."

Divine Tribulation 1!

I... actually dug myself into a deeper grave!

The elderly man sent a wave of lightning in the direction of Aerion but he managed to dodge the attack with the use of the Star God's Broken Shadow.

"You dare kill our sacred beasts!?"

Another wave, this one was bigger and actually struck Aerion. It took him a few seconds to recover from the shock. By the time he recovered, however, the elderly man was already standing over him. He grabbed Aerion by the neck and held him up with one hand. Lightning formed at his other hand.

"Now you die, little devil, by my lightning blade!"

Sh*t.

The elderly man stabbed him in the c.h.e.s.t with his 'lightning blade'.

However, in the end, all Aerion could manage was a smirk just as he started to 'die'.

"This... young... emperor... is... coming... for... you!"

Then he disappeared, back to his endless world of nothing. The elderly man laughed. "Coming? You are dead, foolish boy."

The White Tiger looked at the cloaked man. "He is not dead."

"Uh, how come, Divine Spirit? I stabbed him in the c.h.e.s.t... he was dying right before my eyes!"

"Foolish human, he cannot die here... that is all you need to know."

"..."

"It is very likely that he will return stronger than ever before and slay you... in that case, I wouldn't mind giving him my legacy."

"What about this humble mortal?"

"You will be dead and reborn again, just to be killed again. Just like those beasts... this whole place is just a mere playground orc.h.e.s.trated by Him in order to assist the boy."

"I... so my life has been a lie all along?"

"More or less."

Those three words pierced his soul.

"..."

~

"Hahaha, you went a little bit far this time around." The Dragon laughed.

"My sacrifice was worth it, I got to find the end of the eighth floor. Now I know where I should be in order to finish it."

"Divine Tribulation 1... you will need to be at least in the Divine Origin Realm in terms of cultivation strength to defeat him."

This is good... I have more motivation to become stronger, I have something to strive for. A temporary goal is just as important as a long term one, if not more.

Aerion opened his eyes and left the sea of flames. Then the Divine Spirit of the Golden Crow bestowed him the mighty lightning seed of the Heretic God. Of course, he swallowed the purple bead and witnessed the change in his cultivation strength as time went on.

Sovereign Profound 5, 6... 7... 8... 9... 10!

His cultivation strength stopped increasing once it reached Sovereign Profound 10.

I have a feeling my breakthrough into the Divine Origin Realm won't be easy...

"Divine Spirit, I am grateful to you in more ways than one. If there is anything you need..."

"I don't need anything from you, Dragon. But... if you ever reach the Ancestral God Realm, feel free to return here and return me to my peak form."

Aerion laughed. "You're going to have to wait for some time."

"This noble one is very patient."

Aerion changed the subject.

"How is Caiyi doing?"

"She has finished comprehending the third stage... which is the last stage this noble one gave her, much like her predecessors. Feel free to teach her the rest, if you think that she is worthy."

Only the third stage? This Golden Crow is truly arrogant...

Huan Caiyi appeared before Aerion, fully clothed.

"I believe it is time you two leave. Feel free to return at any time, as long as it's for an important reason..."

They reappeared at the entrance of the Golden Crow Lightning Flame Valley. Haun Caiyi looked very confident with her new cultivation strength of half-step Divine Origin... which was mainly gained by dual-cultivation, cough. Aerion touched her c.h.e.s.t and the Sky Poison Pearl opened all of her profound entrances.

"What are you..."

"There... the Divine Origin Realm!"

The moment her profound entrances opened, she broke through to the Divine Origin Realm. With all profound entrances opened, there is no such thing as 'half-step' to Aerion's knowledge. After all, half-step is like a bottleneck and the Heavenly God's Spiritual Veins lead to no bottlenecks.

I'm slightly jealous.

"Thank you... all because of you, I can do something I've been intending to do for a long time..."

"And that is?" Aerion inquired.

"Clean the house."
