That Mysterious Guy

Chapter 19 - The Fight

Deana did not notice when a bitter smile tears Spencer's lips. If her boyfriend hasn't a meeting with someone, Deana won't bother to come and nurse him. However, he is too old to be nursed by someone, is it?

Spencer pulls a chair and then sits on it. He let Deana place the food on the table. He finds out, she also made herbal tea for him that helped to ease his hoarse throat.

"Thank you. You should take a rest now. I know you still have rehearsals and fittings tomorrow," said Spencer, then began eating the porridge she placed in front of him. Hmm... a Filipino porridge called Arozcaldo: simmered sticky rice then added meat and spices.

Deana presses her lips. She wanted to return his statement, but there's no need for confrontation. She's well aware that Spencer looks at her schedules the entire time of her work.

She sighed. And Spencer caught it. He looks up at her with black lines on his forehead.

"What's the matter? Is there a problem with your work? You want some changes?" he asked her.

"Not really..." she cannot tell him the truth about her issues.

"Deana?"

Like her, Spencer also hesitant to speak up over five sentences.

"I'll go back to my suite. You should take a rest after you take your medicine. Brother Jake already fixing your schedule for the whole day. You should give him a long vacation soon."

"You're right. I'll do that," he agreed. Jake a big help to him. He is a reliable assistant.

Deana now prepared to leave after she'd done fixing her disguise. "I'll go ahead now..." she announced, then began stepping toward the door.

"Deana... before you leave, can you tell me if what do you want to talk to me?" he finally speaks up. Spencer could sense it, but he is reluctant to ask her directly. "It is just nothing, right?"

Deana halted and turn around. She is pondering whether to raise her issue.

"I— I just want to... Ahem." Deana weighing the atmosphere if she should bring it up.

"Can't you stop sending someone to watch me every time? I am sure I was safe in Mainland City, so what's with the secret bodyguard?" there, she finally said it.

"We haven't known might something happen." Is what he only commented.

"No! It's not only here, but even back in Philipines, they were everywhere! Can't you stop this already?" she blurted out.

"Everywhere, I have many eyes anywhere to watch my business. Since this is the issue, it happens you were around."

His reasonings and she is sick to hear it.

"This is childish!"

"Deana!"

His voice began rising and she must stop it.

"Just stop, okay?" she pleaded.

"I can't promise that."

"I am not my sister! What do you want? Just leave me alone, can't you?" She need not see his expression but she could guess how his face darkened, pressing his lips in anger.

"Enough. I don't want this matter mentioned again in the future," he firmly stated. Controlling his anger until at this moment.

Again. He hasn't changed at all and it angers her for being under his protection all the time. "All I am asking is to let me live my life!"

"I said, enough!" Spencer f.o.r.c.i.b.l.y sat up that threw the chair on the floor.

"I hate you!"

"Deana!"

The door slamming closed as Deana run outside. He can't follow her and fix this matter. It will only create a commotion if anyone saw them fighting outside.

Damn it! Spencer slammed his hands on the table. They always ended up arguing every time they would have a long talk. He heaves a furious sighed. It seems his hangover came back as pain hammering his head.

And when she would stop mentioning her sister? But probably it was his fault, for not clarifying things with her, as they never have a proper talk ever since. And their arguments just keep filing up and become a wall in between them.

Spencer picks up the chair and seated back on it. He rested his forehead on his arm. The fight between them is getting broader.

But she just too stubborn and the one acted childishly. When does she understand him? He would never be at ease knowing she went climbing a mountain where rebels are living around. He would never at peace when she is bravely visiting places where terrorists are hiding and living around like pretending just ordinary people.

There is no way he would just sit around and watch. She always does things that could lead to a dangerous situation and she is not minding them just a little at all.

And this matter, he has no bravery to bring it up to her because she won't listen to him.

He sighed. He has to eat the food she prepared for him.
