The Birth of a Villainess

"If we didn't push our way inside his home and tricked the servants there, we wouldn't have been able to see her at all even if we tied Qu Xing Xu up!" Qi Yandi harbored a bit of grudge when he recalled how many times Qu Xing Xu denied their visits a few weeks ago.

A few days after Qu Xing Xu married Lin Xiaofei, the news should have quickly arrived and alerted them. However, it was mysteriously blocked for a few days and could only reach their sides when the wedding was already finished and a week had already passed.

Moreover, when the brothers tried to send letters to Qu Xing Xu asking him why they weren't invited and why did he not tell them anything about his plans to get married and wanted to meet his bride, they didn't receive a reply and suspected that the other burned their letters without even reading it.

Even Ni Zixuan, who was biased at first, could not deny that Lin Xiaofei was definitely not what the rumors spread across the capital had described her. Thus, his prejudice toward Lin Xiaofei was washed away after they talked alone inside that study.

"How can that be? Brother Xing Xu was probably just not in the mood." Wu Xuanyi still reasoned out. She didn't want to buy whatever Qi Yandi was saying. "Afterall, there's the problem with the Chu Empire, he must be stressed out and didn't want to be disturbed."

Despite what she said, Qi Yandi and Ni Zixuan knew the truth and no longer wanted to bother with her as they clinched their legs around their horses' stomach, prompting them to go forward with the army that was already moving towards the gate.

Wu Xuanyi felt aggrieved hearing that Qi Yandi defended Lin Xiaofei. A few weeks ago, Qi Yandi was still amiably trying to appease her and told her that she shouldn't be too heartbroken. And yet, not only after a few days of spending time in the Qu residence, the muscle-headed man already changed camps and worshipped the road that Lin Xiaofei walked.

After the four were far ahead of her, a servant from her family moved closer to her. The servant was also a soldier under her squad and loyal to her and her father. 

Wu Xuanyi's servant bowed his head before asking, "Milady, what should be done?"

"What else? Go and check if that bitch is still inside the Qu residence." Her eyes gleamed wickedly as she added, "I'd like to see how she can protect herself without Brother Xing Xu's protection!" 

Once the servant got his order from his superior, he didn't waste time and went back to get a messenger bird and tied up a note, that contained Wu Xuanyi's orders, around its leg before it flew across the sky and went to where it was trained to send the message - to the Wu mansion.

"Should we shoot at the bird and stop it?" Qi Yandi asked the men around him. They didn't hear what Wu Xuanyi ordered the servant to do but since they saw how Wu Xuanyi's face had turned dark with evil intention, they naturally knew what she was planning to do.

Ni Zixuan looked at the bird flying and turning into a small dot in the sky as it got farther away. He shrugged his shoulders, not caring one bit. If Wu Xuanyi was really that skillful to harm Lin Xiaofei inside the Qu residence where every servant was a martial art expert then, Qu Xing Xu might consider putting his elite guards around her.

"Where's Gu Yan by the way? I haven't seen him since we travelled." Ni Zixuan noticed and went forward to where Qu Xing Xu was to ask him.

Qu Xing Xu did not even glance at him and said, "I ordered him to stay and guard."

Stay and guard? That elite expert that even a thousand men couldn't defeat in a duel? Qi Yandi, Jiang Sheng, and Ni Zixuan looked at each other. The three of them felt pity towards the elderly man for being left and tasked with guarding someone.

As soon as Qu Xing Xu said that, not far away from where they are, a horse was rushing from behind them. The Zheng Empire's army was quick to flinch and stood their ground, prepared to strike if there was an ambush from behind. 

However, there was only a lone horse and person riding it.

From afar, they couldn't see who it was but as the person got closer and their view of him got clearer, they could recognize him immediately.

It was Gu Yan!

"Xi...Xing Xu... Are you sure you left him to stay and guard your wife?" Jiang Sheng was even speechless upon seeing the rushing figure on top of the black steed and also knew who it was. 

Qu Xing Xu also wasn't expecting this to happen. Why was Gu Yan here and not in the capital to guard Lin Xiaofei to keep her safe from any harm?

A frown formed on his face, and his eyes went darker and colder. Anyone who was near him could fill the world around them.. It was getting chiller and harder to breathe.
