The Birth of a Villainess

Qu Xing Xu spread the letter open and read the content written in it without changing his expression. However, as soon as he read the first few words, his eyebrows tightened and his lips formed a straight line.

Several pair of eyes gazed at him with bated breath. Anticipation and anxiety gripped around their chests as though they were the one whose wife left. 

Qu Xing Xu sighed and leaned back to his chair.

"Wha...What did the letter say? I mean, what did my sister-in-law say?" Qi Yandi could not stop himself from asking. He was the one who was most expectant and afraid. He was scared that what if the letter contained some unsightly words and made his brother's mood turn ugly? 

Qu Xing Xu was not one who was easily angered, but he was also someone whom anyone could dare go against.

Instead of saying out loud what was written on the letter, Qu Xing Xu kept his mouth shut and raised a hand to massage the area between his eyebrows. 

"Nothing." 

Nothing? What does he mean by nothing? His wife gave him something before she disappeared and yet, after seeing the letter, he said it was nothing? Then, why does he look more scary and creepy?

"Is she alright?" Jiang Sheng asked. Since the other already decided not to say anything, as the eldest brother, Jiang Sheng asked how Lin Xiaofei was doing.

Qu Xing Xu nodded. 

"That's good then." Jiang Sheng no longer talked about this matter since Qu Xing Xu kept his mouth shut and didn't send orders to find his wife quickly. After much thought, he said, "Wu Xuanyi... I think she might be planning something and involves your wife. Anyway, since your wife is not around, Xuanyi wouldn't be able to touch her."

Although Wu Xuanyi had some plans to harm Lin Xiaofei, Jiang Sheng felt that he wanted to plead mercy for her. After all, they had been with her for a few years now and had treated her like their real sister. Thus, no matter what happens, they would still consider Wu Xuanyi their friend and sister.

But of course, everyone has a bottom line that no one should cross and Jiang Sheng knew that. It was just that Jaing Sheng felt that Wu Xuanyi was still young and should realize her mistake soon.

Qu Xing Xu, however, didn't think the same as him. He just stared at Jiang Sheng nonchalantly. Without changing his expression, his voice resounded inside the room as if death was lurking around. "Whether that woman can touch or not touch Xiaofei will only depend on her ability."

Ni Zixuan frowned and said, "Wu Xuanyi is a woman who trained in the military and is an expert in terms of martial arts, shouldn't you send some people to guard against her?"

Upon hearing him, Jiang Sheng and Qi Yandi glanced at him as if they were surpised to hear these words from him. They didn't expect him to show his concern and didn't rush forward to defend Wu Xuanyi.

In the corner of the room, Qi Yandi was even sending him weird glances.

Ni Zixuan suddenly had the urge to throw Qi Yandi outside and kick him. 

However, everyone, except Qu Xing Xu and Gu Yan, understood Ni Zixuan's meaning. Wu Xuanyi was a grown woman who was heavily trained to kill her enemy and even has an important rank in the army. She should be someone who has both the talent and capabilities to obliterate anyone she doesn't like.

And compared to her, Lin Xiaofei was a weak young lady from the capital and couldn't even raise her hand to kill.

Thus, Jiang Sheng and Qi Yandi were also worried about this. However, Ni Zixuan was half worried and half inquiring from Qu Xing Xu. He witnessed that deadly aura that was coming off of her when they met at the study and so, he just wanted answers.

Gu Yan broke some sweats behind his back and wanted to say something like 'I wonder who would die between the two ladies?' and 'I feel pity for Miss Wu since she picked a poisonous flower to fight against'.

Nevertheless, he didn't voice out his thoughts and remained silent on the ground. 

"There's no need to. As for Miss Wu... you better watch over her and tell her not to go too far. Or else, I wouldn't mind losing one more person in my ranks." Qu Xing Xu said these words full of malice and warning. No one dared to refute him, knowing that he would stay true to his words. "If there's nothing else, everyone should go back to their rooms to rest and get ready to meet later to discuss our plans for this war."

Qu Xing Xu stood up and turned toward the direction where his room was. He then paused and said, "Gu Yan, come with me." 

After saying this, he really went to his room and closed it behind him. 

After he left, the three looked at each other and it was Qi Yandi who broke the silence that came after Qu Xing Xu left.

"I-Is this really alright?" He looked at Gu Yan who was already standing up and asked, "Yan-ge, nothing will happen to my sister-in-law right?" 

Gu Yan stared at him and smiled slightly, Young Master Qi didn't have to worry. Everything should be under control."

"But... her guard is not with her. She's alone and no one knows where she is now. What if she got hurt!" Qi Yandi did not dare ask this when Qu Xing Xu was around since the latter didn't mention this earlier. He could only ask the old steward.

Gu Yan: "No one knows that. Besides..." he trailed off before smiling and waving his hand, "You all shouldn't worry too much since Master also isn't worried."

After he said that, he already turned around to follow his Master inside his room and no longer stayed around. However, only he knew what he was going to say earlier...

'Besides, I doubt it'll be milady who will be hurt. It should be the other way around.' 

This was Gu Yan's true feelings and thoughts.

At this time, the person they were discussing was inside a room. 

Lin Xiaofei was sipping tea from her cup and was looking outside her room. The drizzle of the rain outside was like a curtain blocking one's view, and gave a feeling of comfort when one looked at it.

Putting her cup on the table, Lin Xiaofei slowly smiled. She predicted that Qu Xing Xu should have already received the letter. She also expected that Shen Mo and Prince Ziyin would be coming to her after a day or two. 

That's right. Everything that happened after she left the Qu residence has been within her expectations. Although she miscalculated when would Qu Xing Xu leave the capital, her plans and everything else that happened after she left was within her calculations.

Now, she only has to wait for the war to start and decide when she will come out to join the fun.
