The Birth of a Villainess

Chapter 35 - Soon, The Rain Will Come

The West street was bustling with people and was exceptionally lively. This was due to the fact that the Rabbit Moon festival was a few days away and thus, the people in the Jing capital couldn't help but feel extremely happy and excited about the festival.

The Rabbit Moon festival was the day when the royal family will get out of the Imperial palace to sightsee and mingle with the people of the Zhen Empire. Of course, this doesn't literally mean they would really mingle with everyone else since the royal family would only sit at the erected podium in the Central Street while everyone else stood below the podium like they were worshipping a God.

Every store of different sizes will be open, hoping they will attract a lot of customers to come to their stores and get some huge sum of money. The nobles and wealthy would also go out to see the bustle and buy what fancied them while they're enclosed with their groups of similarly noble-born individuals. As for the commoners who were low borns and poor, they could only enjoy the beautiful sight of the scenery and watch the royal family and the wealthy do their own thing.

On a small bridge with a canal under it, a woman was anxiously waiting and looked at every person walking on the bridge as if one of these people passing by her would take out a knife and stab her right here and then.

And yet, what she was expecting didn't come nor did anyone try to bother with her as they kept on walking.

If one were to look closely at her, they would notice her innate beauty, however, because she was slightly pale and wore simple mud-colored clothes, not a lot of people looked in her way,

However, this woman who was anxiously waiting for someone was none other than the number one beauty of Bai Hua Lou three years ago, Chu Chu.

Yesterday, Chu Chu received a letter from an unknown sender through a mailing bird that was trained to send and receive letters. And when she read it the sender told her to meet today in the West Street where a bridge was located.

She didn't know the identity of the sender but she assumed it to be the young master who came to the Bai Hua Lou and met her. She didn't think that it was Yu Fangzhu or any of his men since he wouldn't bother with her when he has a lot of things to do during the Rabbit Moon festival as a prince of the Zheng empire.

Aside from the merchants and servants who were the busiest when a festival was nearing, the royal family didn't have any time to take a leisure break since they had a duty to make the festival successful and not embarrass themselves to the neighboring empires.

And as a prince chasing after the throne, Yu Fangzhu wouldn't let this chance to impress the public, and his father emperor escape from his hands.

Chu Chu looked around once more and still hadn't seen the young man she met last time. She has been waiting for almost two hours and was feeling impatient. She thought that the young man must have lied to her and felt angry.

She waited a few more minutes but still, the person who told her to come didn't appear.

Stomping her foot, Chu Chu was about to leave when a decent looking man with a clean face suddenly blocked her way. She raised her gaze and glared at the man and angrily said, "Get out of my way!"

However, the man stayed put on his place and said, "I can't do that. My master told me to bring you along with me."

Pausing slightly, Chu Chu realized that this man wasn't trying to stop her but rather, he wants her to come along to see his master.

As for who was his master, Chu Chu was skeptical and doubtfully looked at him.

The man before her was wearing a normal dark blue brocade robe with no patterns that could tell her if he was a noble or not. He also had tied his hair with a jade clasp and his figure towered her overwhelmingly.

However, the way he stood like he had a rod as his spine instead of bones told her that he was no ordinary man and was used to having his superior ordering him around.

Shen Mo, who was being stared at with a doubtful look as if he was a scammer was deeply hurt for being doubted. He knew he didn't have a good looking face like the handsome males in the capital, however, he had a presentable face and was normally adored by his fellow soldiers for having a decent and clean face.

Clearing his throat, Shen Mo ignored the suspicious look he was getting from the female in front of him and said, "My master told me to tell you that 'the rain will come and wash away all the dirt on the ground'.

Instantly, Chu Chu understood what those words meant.

In the past, Xiaofei and Chu Chu would always talk about how the rain would always wash away the dirt and once it's gone, the sun and the sky will brighten up and only beautiful scenery could be seen.

To others, these words were not worthy to be mentioned since it was like talking about the weather, but Xiaofei had told her the other meaning behind those words.

Just like the rain that will wash away the dirt on the ground, there were also other things that could replace the rain and take away all the grievances and evil from the face of the earth.

For example, death.

When Xiaofei told her that, Chu Chu had goosebumps all over her body as she saw a sinister smile starting to form on her friend's face.

Chu Chu looked at Shen Mo with uncertainty. She wasn't sure with what kind of identity does that young master she met last time had that he even knew of this.

However, one thing was clear.

The young man she met in the Bai Hua Kou definitely knew Xiaofei and had some relationship or else, why would he knew about the box and the words Xiaofei would always utter.

"Let's go." She said after confirming this fact and followed the man in front of her.
