The Birth of a Villainess

Chapter 52 - To Eavesdrop

Lin Xiaofei gently patted the child's head as they sat on the bed.

With the cloak gone, the golden hair of the child was uncovered. Under the light, the child's hair was like a spider web that shines whenever light hits against it.

Feeling the fear and nervousness of the child, Lin Xiaofei reassured him, "Don't worry. I won't hurt you."

Lin Xiaofei felt the words she let go was so foreign to her but at the same time, it came from inside her heart. Maybe because in the months she was left out inside the dungeon tortured, she felt pity towards the boy, or perhaps, her past desire to have a child made her say this.

In the past, she wished for a child, but because Yu Fangzhu's mother forbids her, a mere concubine to bear her son's child, she was forced to drink medicine to make her unable to bear a child forever.

However, the child didn't believe her words. He's heard of those words every single time and in the end, he was betrayed and captured to be bought as a slave.

Lin Xiaofei raised an amused brow. Her guess was right. The child could understand her language and might know how to speak it.

She stood up and walked to the closet to get clothes for the child to wear. She returned with a white robe in her hand and put it on top of the table in the center of the room.

Earlier, when she first arrived in her courtyard, she made her maidservants leave the premise of her courtyard to make the child more comfortable and less scared. Of course, her personal maids didn't stop asking her questions about the identity of the child and where she picked it up.

Lin Xiaofei didn't answer any of their questions and made them leave immediately.

"Take off your clothes and change into this." Lin Xiaofei told the child who remained sitting on the bed.

The child didn't do as she said and instead asked her, his voice slightly raspy and anxious, "Why did you do make me do that?"

"Do what?" Lin Xiaofei feigned ignorance to which the child bit his mouth and glared at her.

The child couldn't believe that she was trying to pretend not to know what he meant by his words.

"After buying me, why did you tell me to burn the cottage and the tent?" He said.

Kael remembered the exact words Lin Xiaofei told him after buying him, 'If you want to live and prove you're of use to me, burn this place to dust.'.

At that time, he wasn't in his right mind and did as she had told him without any hesitation. He probably thought that this was his last chance towards freedom and she might be testing him thus, he did what he was told to do.

As soon as he was let out of his cage, he grabbed the torched in the wall and started to burn the entire cottage and went out of the cottage and burn the tent in front. And as if the wind was on his side, it picked up and the fire that he started became furious and ate everything it touches.

After throwing the torch aside, he could still remember how the young woman who bought him just stood there as if she was watching a great show that was worth a heavy amount of money while the fire was surrounding them and if not because he saw the fire starting to lick its way towards her and pulled her away, who knew what would happen to them.

The people inside the cottage didn't have any time to react, everything was done so fast and abruptly that the moment they could gather their bearings, the only thing they could do was flee.

But who knew that a huge wooden beam fell on top of them, stopping them and ceasing their lives.

As for the slaves that were left inside the cages, Kael didn't know what happened to them. They were probably burned down along with the cottage or escaped outside while the chaos was making everyone flee from the auction house.

Lin Xiaofei smirked. "Because I just want to." After saying that, she saw the heavy look on the child's face.

She put her chin on top of the back of her hand and added on, "Don't look at me like I killed the nine generations of your clan. You're making me want to repeat the same thing and burn something bigger."

Kael saw the twinkle in her eyes and knew that she was serious about what she said. But he couldn't say anything back to her since it was also his own doings that the cottage was lit on fire and many people died.

He stood up and reached for the white robe on top of the table, but Lin Xiaofei stopped him.

"What?" Kael looked at her confusedly.

"Take your clothes off first."

On top of the roof, a man in a black robe was lying on the tiled roof. No one knew when and how he got there without alarming the guards in the Lin residence.

And because the clouds were covering the sky, the man didn't have any problems in trying to fight the heat and was relaxed.

However, he wished there were stars above so he could watch it as he eavesdrops on the two people inside the room.

With his hand on the back off his head, the man raised an eyebrow and a smirk graced his handsome face.

His ear perked up as the voices below were heard by him as clear as crystal.

He was speechless at the words of the young woman. He even doubted his ability to hear things but after hearing her telling the boy to take off his clothes once again, he knew he hadn't heard wrong.

"This woman… What is she planning to do with a child this time?" Qu Xing Xu said with great interest. A wicked smile on his face.
