The Burning Fiend

After another 20 years of research, Rosarie and Reynolds managed to understand a couple of attack formations that seemed more useful than the 'divine wolf construct'. The first one required five Gods to power up a divine energy construct in the form of an eagle, its defense was no different from the one provided by the 'divine wolf construct' but its speed was almost comparable to a metallic life form making it a great option for escaping or guerrilla tactics if one were to consider the powerful razor sharp talons.

The second attack formation required 5 Gods as well to manifest a divine dragon construct with superior defense, speed and attack, Reynolds believed that this 'divine dragon construct' compared to a 5-star Fiend. This one would be their main attack formation for the moment and reserved to dangerous situations. Of course, they would have to train in their use and try it in actual battle so it could be useful when needed.

Reynolds on the other hand, had managed to understand the principle of the 'divine wolf construct' and, using analogies of his understanding with other arrays, he managed to create his 'Fire Ba-Serpent Array'. It needed three flame doppelgangers using God level fire type divine sparks to power a divine power construct to form a Ba-Serpent with power close to the Asura level.

This attack formation was not completed yet but Reynolds thought that once he succeeds, it might become a powerful technique when combined with his purple flames. That would mean that the Ba-Serpent might be unable to use the Fire Elemental Laws, but the mere touch of the construct would result in soul and material damage due to the Edicts of Death, and the construct itself would have self-regeneration and strengthening attributes due to the Edicts of Life.

Before he managed to fuse the four laws, this might become his most powerful card. But he suspected that perfecting the attack formation would take roughly the same time as reaching the bottleneck for the fusion of the four laws. He did not know if it was worthy time and power wise, but he enjoyed studying runes and arrays, so he decided to continue regardless.

During this time, Talia had grown fond of music and cooking. Reynolds believed that she might be able to create a wind avatar through the law of 'Music' within a hundred years and felt pride for his daughter's talent, but she had being more celebrated due to another two successful dishes making them all hope for more.

The time to leave the Silver Gale City had finally come, and they left on their famous winged serpent shaped metallic life form, Reynolds wanted to lure a few bandits for the girls to taste the 'divine dragon construct' in battle, but he thought that news of his departure along with details of their metallic life form, would spread fast. So they will be changing to another metallic life form when they believe to be out of sight and start using a few 'stealth' arrays to start their hunt.

Crystal Cave City was a place famous for its beautiful scenery, it was located within a giant tunnel across a mountain that divided the Jadefloat Continent and the Starmist Sea. The daylight would never reach the innermost part of the tunnel where the city was located, the mesmerizing scenery was created due to the crystal stalactites that shinned in the dark creating the illusion of a permanent dark sky full of bright stars.

Within a luxurious palace not far from the City Lord Mansion, the Lord of the Silver Prefecture was smiling as he watched the scenes projected by the recording orb. He could see as Reynolds was testing the capabilities of the attack formation powered by his wives, he was a little disappointed as he felt he was wasting time playing with runic arrays, but he would not criticize someone for taking measures to protect his family.

He turned to look at the red haired servant who was waiting politely and smiled at him to indicate he could continue with his report. "Lord Prefect, the Burning Fiend left the Silver Gale City and his apparent direction is this city. He might arrive in 20 years, but previous experience tells us that he would take his time to travel leisurely and make his way here slowly". The red haired man ended his report and waited for further instructions.

The gray haired Lord Prefect chuckled while thinking to himself. 'While is a pity that I might not be able to fight him at the level I would like... it is not every day that you find a 3-way soul mutate to play. Still, I might end up visiting a few centuries later to see his improvement'. The Lord Prefect smiled while waiting patiently for Reynolds to arrive.

10 years after leaving Silver Gale City, Reynolds and his family were flying within a dragon shaped metallic life form. They had made a small detour to fly closer to an area that was famous for having numerous bandits, and he hoped to manage to lure them in to attacking their metallic life form.

He was making good progress on his fusion of the four laws thinking that it would not be too long before he reached the final step before completing the fusion, the dreaded bottleneck. Reynolds felt excited at the idea of being so close to reach a new level of power and was taking a rest while enjoying a glass of wine when the metallic life form suddenly trembled and, after a powerful impact, was destroyed leaving Reynolds and his wives floating on the air.

The originally smirking bandits felt terror as they finally saw who they just have attacked, Reynolds had a brilliant smile while his four wives and Talia were already preparing to activate the attack formation. The group contained three Highgods who were trembling in terror because they recognized Reynolds and because they could not feel him through their divine sense, the rest of the bandit group consisted of 20 Gods and nearly a 100 Demigods.

Reynolds was still calmly holding his glass of wine with his left hand while he rested his right hand behind his back as if he were standing next to a fireplace at home enjoying the warm and not surrounded by bandits. Catherine was floating a couple of meters behind him while no emotion could be seen in her beautiful face, she seemed to had grown numb to these situations.

Suddenly a tremor could be felt in the air and all the bandits turned to look at Rosarie who was surrounded by her sisters and Talia, the five women seemed to blur while a green translucent oriental type dragon, with a length of 20 meters, appeared in their place.

Without any warning the dragon roared and started killing bandits moving at high speed while Reynolds used his soul attack on anyone who tried to leave the battlefield. He did not kill them, but the pain and damage they received would increase the farther they moved and all of them soon returned to face the wrath of the green dragon with unwilling expressions.

"Please! Have mercy!" A few bandits on the group started begging in despair, but neither Reynolds nor Rosarie seemed to heard them. Reynolds has his full attention in the attack formation observing how it behaved and responded to different situations in battle.

The green dragon used its claws and tail to destroy the bandits with ease, the three Highgods seemed to be avoiding the battle but were not able to escape under Reynolds vigilance and soon they had no choice but to work together and resist the attacks of the divine power construct. Reynolds observed with interest as the three Highgods barely managed to cause exterior damage to the green dragon without causing instability to its main structure.

Reynolds was satisfied with the defense of the attack formation and, while its attacks were powerful, it seemed that Rosarie needed more practice in controlling the construct to fight effectively. He suspected that if Koral were the one controlling the battle formation the three Highgods would have died long ago.

After all Koral was a dragon type magical beast and it would not be difficult for her to have a better performance in battle with this type of construct. Still, they had concurred that Rosarie should take control due to her hard work in creating the necessary runic formation... it was their first true battle, and she deserved to be the one controlling the battle formation.

He was sure they would find more bandits, along the way toward Crystal Cave City, giving the necessary opportunities for Koral to become proficient controlling the battle formation. At this point, one of the three Highgods was being overwhelmed and failed to escape before being torn to pieces by the powerful mauls of the dragon. This seemed to spark madness on the other two Highgods and turned to flee forgetting that they would be facing Reynolds's soul attack if they tried to escape.

Reynolds chuckled as the dragon roared in disp.l.e.a.s.u.r.e and looked unwillingly as the two remained Highgods turned into ashes leaving behind their divine sparks and their interspatial rings. The green dragon started to blur and soon five beautiful women appeared in its place, Rosarie was frowning as if unsatisfied by her performance while the other four were smiling with happiness thinking that they had become stronger as a group.

Catherine was looking at the five women with wide eyes and curiosity, she had long understood that the Edicts of Life were not very powerful in neither attack nor defense. The Edicts of Life were more oriented to illusions and healing while her lightning avatar was more a disguise as she did not have control over the higher level mysteries, but now she had a new understanding on runic arrays and her interest in the art started to grow.
