The Burning Fiend

Chapter 133 - Meeting a Paragon (Part I)

A man with long black hair and red eyebrows was slowly approaching the most luxurious residence within Miluo Island, he felt slightly annoyed at having to come back to this place as he felt extreme dislike towards the true ruler of the island. Leylin remembered with vindictive p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e how the kid had trashed the old monster using his 'Ba-Serpent Attack Formation' and he had decided to leave after realizing that the kid was not in danger of being controlled by the old monster. 'For your own good Mosi... you better have not done anything to the kid'.

He sighed in resignation as he entered the residence undetected, Leylin understood that Beirut could not come himself as he would be in danger if he were to leave either the area under the protection of the Chief Sovereign of Destruction or the Yulan continent were his most powerful avatar lived. Leylin was not known to other Sovereigns, and he could move as he pleased... as long as his relationship with Beirut was not revealed. Beirut had explained that the Chief Sovereign of Destruction was one of the most powerful entities on the universe and could face the most powerful Chief Sovereign of Fate in battle, he had no idea what price the old rat had paid to obtain the protection of such a monster to allow his darkness avatar to live without worrying over the wrath of Augusta, the Chief Sovereign of Light. He sighed in frustration again... 'Was it worthy becoming a Sovereign? I only ended entering a conflict that I cannot even understand... Damn you Beirut!'

Leylin was about to make his presence known and start intimidating the old monster to end this annoying business as soon as possible when he witnessed the most unexpected situation. "Faster! Battle steed Mosi!" A little kitten was resting on the old monster's head commanding him with a melodious female voice, and an even more unbelievable situation occurred when Mosi actually complied with the order while muttering to himself about the core of the soul and how to use the suppression of memories to mask a soul control technique effectively.

Leylin felt as if he had just walked into something he should not have seen and feeling shame at witnessing this private moment, he was unsure of how to react to the situation. 'The slaver become the slave?' He thought unable to believe what was happening, he focused his 'will' and divine sense on the kitten only to find out that she was a Demigod, and that she could not have forced the old monster into submission.

Confused, he decided to leave and pay a visit to Reynolds and see if everything was fine with him. Leylin did not want to meddle with the uncomfortable situation he had just stumbled upon by mistake. He dreaded what he might find when he reached the kid, thinking that if the old monster had fallen into the control of a powerful being then Reynolds might be in the same situation as that unknown powerhouse seemed to have strange tendencies.

Leylin was relieved to find that Reynolds and his family seemed to be behaving just as he remembered they would. His wives were either sculpting, playing music or reading, while his daughter and that young woman who seemed quite similar to Linley's wife were playing board games. Reynolds himself was reading an obscure book about runes, and Leylin finally checked that Reynolds's half Sovereign soul defense artifact was intact before reassuring himself that the kid was not under the influence or control of anyone.

But he was surprised when he realized that the aura Reynolds was emitting was that of an Asura, and that was the pure blessing of having fused five Elemental Laws. Leylin was confused thinking of how the kid had managed to reach this level so soon as he was sure that it was neither related to his soul mutation nor to his fantastic usage of runic formation. For once, he had to agree that the kid was as talented as Beirut thought he was and perhaps he would have been a better recipient for the fire type Sovereign spark than him.

Leylin chuckled to himself. 'It was good that the kid was not born a thousand years earlier or I would not have enjoyed to opportunity to become a Sovereign'. He thought delighted at Beirut's distress and wondered how long would it take for his 'disciple' to become a Paragon. Leylin left the courtyard and decided to visit in a more polite way to check the kid's progress.

Reynolds was frightened, a moment ago he had felt extreme danger. A level of threat that almost made him summon his attack formation and escape as fast as he could, but the feeling disappeared as swiftly as it had come. He had no idea which old monster have suddenly gained interest on him and felt worried, he had been so sure that he was beyond feeling fear from other powerhouses but in just a moment he had been forced to realize how naive he was.

He sighed and decided that it was time to leave and spent the next thousand years under Lord Beirut protection. 'Girls, we are leaving Miluo Island in a couple of days... be ready'. He sent the mental message through the 'Soul Brand' he had placed on each of the women living with him, Reynolds could see how happy Talia was and that she was almost jumping from the excitement of traveling again.

A moment later, the runic formation at the door chimed announcing the arrival of a visitor. Reynolds frowned almost completely sure that this was not a coincidence and that the visitor was most likely the presence he had felt a short moment ago looking at him. Reynolds stood up and went to answer the door after instructing the girls to enter the house not willing to put his family in danger.

He felt both relieve and terror when he saw Lord Leylin waiting at the door, he had always known that Bluefire was one of the strongest existences, but he now had a clear idea of how much powerful he was. He managed to control his surprise and smiled in welcome. "Lord Leylin, this is an unexpected surprise... please come inside".

Leylin was able to see the different changes in the kid's expressions and realized in complete surprise that the kid had detected his own spying on him a moment ago. 'Is it because of his soul mutation?' He asked himself in wonder, but smiled in return as he entered the courtyard. "It is good to see that you are doing fine, and your family as well".

Reynolds led the way toward the garden and invited him to sit on a stone chair while he took a couple of bottles of wine from his space ring, he poured the wine in two globets while speaking. "Somehow I did not think that you would leave the Yulan Plane, how are your two brothers?". Leylin smiled after tasting the wine and said. "My two brothers are doing fine, they are in the Yulan Plane along with my earth avatar... tell me of your progress kid". It just took a moment for Leylin to fall into his teacher persona and started reviewing the performance of his student.

The purple haired youth couldn't help but smile and said. "Just a couple of weeks ago I managed to fuse five out of the six Elemental Laws of Fire, at this moment I have fused and mastered the mysteries of 'Fire Essence', 'Flame Body', 'Heat', 'Mirage' and 'Explosion'... but I have no clue about the 6th mystery". Reynolds was proud of what he had achieved in his 1,500 years of life, and was convinced that Lord Leylin visit was a gift from the heavens as he would surely provide a few demonstrations of the missing Fire Elemental Law.

Leylin smiled when Reynolds affirmed his suspicions, he could not believe the speed in which the kid progressed and even felt a tingle of jealousy. He was already thinking of showing him the last Elemental Law and a few examples of fusions to help him, but his planning was interrupted when the kid continue speaking.

"I have yet to test my strength with this new realm of power... Lord Leylin, would you mind helping me to find out my own level through a friendly battle?" Reynolds's voice was hopeful and Leylin couldn't help but chuckle as he imagined a child asking for treats. "Very well, I will help you with that... but before we start the battle, I want you to tell what have you been doing on this island".

Reynolds was excited when Lord Leylin began his speech, but felt surprised at his request. Still, he said what he could without endangering himself or his family. "Well, I have been practicing runic arrays and perfecting my soul slaving techniques". Reynolds said without entering in details to avoid problems with someone as powerful as Lord Leylin. Leylin nodded thinking on the battle where Reynolds fought Mosi a few hundred years before, and trembled at the thought that the one responsible for Mosi's new 'tendencies' was sitting in front of him.

"Do you plan to stay here much longer?" Leylin asked with curiosity and Reynolds responded. "Not really, I plan to depart in a couple of days, and I was planning to visit Lord Beirut. Do you have a suggestion?" Leylin shook his head satisfied with his progress and plans. "Not really, that is a good idea. Spending a few centuries under Beirut's protection is a good plan. Perhaps you can even fight the old monster from time to time. But I think having battles with him might not be as useful for you as it would be fighting with me... after all, you are practitioner of the Fire Elemental Laws. Come on, lets go out of this little island to see how much stronger you have become".

Reynolds smiled and send a telepathic message to his family before departing with Lord Leylin. They flew out of the island toward of the Jadefloat Continent only to stop after a few hundred kilometers, Reynolds was excited at the idea of fighting thinking that he would first use only the 5-way fusion, after a while he would use his flames with the attributes of his soul mutation, and finally... he would use his upgraded 'Ba-Serpent Attack Formation'.

Leylin could see how excited the kid was, and chuckled giving him time to calm himself before starting the battle.
