The Burning Fiend

The day the yearly tournament ended Yale managed to get into trouble with another kid as they were dinning at an expensive hotel within the Ernst Institute. Reynolds did not know how thing happened but Linley ended wining 10,000 gold coins for battling the 1st grade winner of the tournament.

He was happy for his friend and he remember that his family have financial issues so this could help them for a while.

During the free time they got every month Yale organized a trip the a famous gallery and the four brothers were excited for the visit. They travelled in Yale's carriage to Fenlai City while laughing and playing.

Reynolds was surprised as they entered the Proulx Gallery, he had spent most of his time training and learning about the different countries but knew next to nothing about art. He was amazed that people could create sculptures to such a degree of detail, the four brothers roamed through the gallery fascinated by the work of masters.

Yale enjoyed telling his younger brothers about the distribution of the gallery and how valuable the art pieces were, Reynolds noticed that Linley was disturbed when he learned that some statues could be worth millions of gold coins and seemed to become lost in thought for a while.

Later that day as they returned to the Ernst Institute they were awaked of their awe as they witnessed a group of wounded students who have returned from the Mountain Range of Magical Beast, Reynolds became aware of how important his training was if he did not want to end like them. He realized that he only have sparring experience with humans and decided to ask Bebe for help sparring to understand how a magical beast fought.

He was lost in thought that he did not noticed that Linley was no longer with them when they reached the dorm and learned that a member of his family had come to visit.

Time passed while Reynolds managed to stick to his training, it helped that his warrior training was performed along with Linley and they sparred with each other frecuently. Reynolds was able to keep with his hobby of studying runes thanks to Yale who managed to find many books on the subject and lending them to him, Reynolds was very grateful and thankful for his three brothers he was sure that he would not have to keep focused on his training and would have ended waisted too much time. Even Yale seemed infected and ended working more than he had originally planned.

One day after sparring with Bebe he accompanied him to look for Linley to see if he wanted to join them for lunch. Bebe was excited because Reynolds promised to buy him his favorite roasted chicken as thanks for sparring with him. When they found Linley he was sculpting and Reynolds could feel how the magical energy moved through him in a much more effective way than when one would meditate.

Reynolds was very excited but managed to wait until Linley finished to asking about it. Linley told him the process of feeling the earth structure within the rock and how would he entered a meditating trance while working on the sculpture. Reynolds was jealous and for the first time he hatted that he had not earth elemental affinity but he spent a few days thinking on what Linley had described trying to find a solution that he could use.

He realized that he had found himself once in a similar mood while training his spear and he had improved his mastery of the weapon by a notch after such experience. He grew excited and started practicing his spear while thinking on fire, how warm it was when it was calm on how destructive it was when it exploded and tried to consciously control his spear in a way that felt similar to those behaviors. He insisted everyday and finally half a year later he found himself lost in trance as he danced with his spear. By the time he regained his senses he found that his spiritual essence have increased dramatically, much how Linley have explained. He was excited and happy, he had been scared to be left behind by Linley and now he could keep competing with his brother.

Reynolds have managed to keep with Linley progress, they both reached the third rank at age 11 and they were 13 years old when they become magus of the fourth rank. And as Linley's progress in stone sculpting improved, Reynold's fascination with practicing his spear also increased his spiritual essence training proficiency both managing to reach the fifth rank before turning 15 years old. Regarding warrior training Linley was superior due to his blood lineage giving him the advantage, but Reynolds managed to kept with his process always lagging a little behind. Linley gravity spell was very useful for their training and Reynolds managed to reach the fourth rank of a warrior seven months after Linley. He was depressed to be lagging behind but he made no comment as Linley had told him that he was not able to train qi and his growth will probably stop when he reached the 6th rank.

Reynolds was sad that his brother talent would be wasted but he made the decision to help him obtain the blood of a saint dragon if he managed to reach the saint level as warrior before they both reached the same level as mages.

By now both Reynolds and Linley were 15 years old and have become famous along a guy named Dixie for reaching the 5th rank at the same age. Reynolds was troubled as he was already 15 years old but have invested all his time in training and runes and forgot to find a girlfriend. He consulted Yale on this regard and was enlightened that enjoying life does not requires a girlfriend and promised to help him in this regard on a visit to a place called 'Jade Water Paradise'.

Yale said that this was rite of age and he must not let George and Linley knew as they have already partake on theirs. This way Yale tricked Reynolds while hiding the matter from George and Linley who would definitely debunk him. So that night Reynolds learnt of the p.l.e.a.s.u.r.es of alcohol and women becoming fascinated for the night only to learn by the next day that he had been tricked by Yale while Linley and Reynolds mocked him of how naive he had been. But the effect was achieved as Yale had finally found a companion to raid the Jade Water Paradise on their rest days as Reynolds become semi addicted as any 15 years old would had.
