The Burning Fiend

Chapter 80 - Poisons (Part II)

Jenne was looking with curiosity at the 6 different mist filled crystal orbs arranged from white to black with a few shades of gray in between. She was sitting on Reynolds' l.a.p while trying to pay attention to his words but his evil hands playing with her b.r.e.a.s.ts made things a little difficult.

"... as the mist changed from silver to golden I came to understand the soul refining technique from the Edicts of Death and it allowed me to create my Demigod avatar. I think we can follow a similar process and understand the differences of each type of mist, going from white to black, and perhaps we can find a few insights on how decay works as many practitioners of the Edict of Death use decay poisons... perhaps this will allow you to create a Demigod avatar". Reynolds interrupted his explanation as Jenne could not keep a small m.o.a.n from leaving her mouth making Reynolds chuckle while she gave him an angry glare.

"Then you have to be careful of never touch the mist, just use your spiritual power to analyze the mist... do you understand?" Reynolds said as he bit her ear, she answered with a small voice that seemed almost a whisper. "I-I understand". He then he released her and left her to study the mist on the orbs while he started perusing the new book.

The book contained different recipes for poison that could erode either flesh or souls, but their manufacturing process seemed more complicated than he had originally thought. The techniques from the Edict of Death used were only mentioned in a general description that could serve as a good first step to start studying the process but it would be hard to learn without having an experienced teacher.

He sighed and hopped to find a clue by examining the mist within the orbs, the good thing was that he would not need to take missions for long while as the earnings obtained from the Fiend Trial were enough for them to live well for thousands of years. So for the next few decades he remained in the courtyard either examining the orbs or spending time with his wives while his divine avatars kept training.

He also took a few relaxing trips to explore the city accompanied by one of the girls each time, last time it was Talia who had come with him, and she had being delighted to find a store where they have games and items for entertainment. She had bought a game that was similar to chess, and she found that she loved strategy games, from then on it will be a normal sight to find her playing with Catherine, Rosarie or Reynolds.

It took a hundred years for Reynolds to complete the two 3-way fusions he was working on and also made half-way progress through the last combination, he hoped that it would not take him more than 5,000 years to be able to fuse the 4 laws he had mastered. He sighed while thinking full of unwillingness. 'Perhaps by that time I would finally have achieved to upgrade my two Demigod avatars to God level... I did not know that my talent on the Edicts was lacking to such a degree'.

Jenne had finally become a Demigod through the Edict of Death as she understood the technique from the Edict of Death that could be used to erode flesh, Reynolds had gained understanding on this technique as well, but he had not managed to progress enough to become a God. He even chuckled thinking that he might become a paragon on the Fire Elemental Laws before he came to understand enough of the Edicts to become a Highgod on both Life and Death, shaking his head he returned his attention to the game enjoying the frustrated face that Talia was sporting as she was unable to decide her next move, but she seemed to have enough energy and time to mutter. "Father is a bully".

On a garden located in one of the 10 great cities of the Redbud Continent, a mesmerizing beautiful young woman smiled as her long golden hair danced behind her head, the other three people sharing the small house looked surprised as they felt the overbearing pressure as the Elemental Laws descended and rushed to the blond woman just in time to witness as a divine spark that glowed with a golden aura appeared in front of her. Sasha sighed as she knew what to expect but her eyes gained a steel like determination as she willed the divine spark to move away from her body.

A moment later a harp shaped soul floated out of her body and her beautiful figure contorted on the ground as she screamed in agony while her soul was slowly split in two under the protection of the Elemental Laws. A moment later she managed to regain control of her body as the now small harp had returned to her body, she smiled and lifter her head to admire the beautiful n.a.k.e.d woman who was floating in front of her as if a goddess had descended.

Her golden long hair reached her waist while her golden eyes shined with a light of freedom that she had not felt in close to 400 years, she admired her long legs, her beautiful hourglass figure and her full b.r.e.a.s.ts that were completely unaffected by gravity. She nodded satisfied before willing a warrior training outfit similar to what she had once seen on Windsor and wondered where would those people be at the moment. 'They would surely have left the Yulan Continent already'. She thought and released a sigh full of sadness and unwillingness, but soon new determination and strength seemed to appear as the light on her eyes seemed to shine brighter than before.

She started to nurture her saint body, using divine power, while adjusting her looks to match her new divine avatar, and soon two identical blond beauties stood facing each other and smiled in satisfaction as if congratulation each other for the hard work they had performed for the last few centuries.

"Sasha congratulations on becoming a Demigod! Now we can travel..." Delia's delighted voice stopped as she saw that Sasha's divine avatar fused with her saint body, and then she closed her eyes returning to her training without acknowledging the presence of the three people waiting for her.

Linley sighed in resignation as he had never imagined that things would have turned so bad for Sasha and the resentment she felt towards them both was real. He also felt annoyance at her attitude, but then remembered how Sasha had yelled at them, the last time she ever talked to them both, that they had turned her into a pet. Linley took Delia's hand and returned to the small house trying to comfort his wife.

Bebe also sighed but remained behind muttering. "So she would be leaving soon..." he then took an orb he had bought a few years ago and put her next to Sasha who turned to look at him expressing her confusion, he winked at her and started walking away. She frowned while using her spiritual sense to examine the orb and startled as she saw that man talking with a 4-star Fiend only to be attacked a moment later by 7 Gods who turned into ashes in an instant. Then that man said something to the Highgods while smiling in a gently yet diabolical fashion and soon one of the Highgods raised his hands to protect his head before also turning into ashes. The other Highgods shared the same fate after a moment. The projection ended, and she found a label on the orb that read 'The Burning Fiend on his first mission killing two 4-star Fiends with a single glance gaining the 5-star Fiend medallion. Jade Float Continent, Silver Prefecture. 100 years ago'.

Sasha's heart started pounding rapidly as she turned to look at Bebe who was drinking wine while joking with his Boss about the next Fiend mission they would take. She smiled gently and returned to her training while thinking. 'They are here... but I'm still too weak, I need to work harder!'

---

Reynolds was walking towards the Fiend Castle while Koral held his arm as if fearing that he would try to escape making a comical sight for the people looking at them, while Reynolds enjoyed playing along with her antics. They soon arrived at the Fiend Castle and entered the area where tasks and missions would be released.

And green haired man looked at them and nodded after looking at the 5-star Fiend emblem. "Welcome, what kind of mission are you looking for?" Reynolds smiled at the man and patted Koral's head asking her to stop playing for a moment, and she was soon behaving like an obedient wife making both Reynolds and the green haired man blink in surprise.

Reynolds shook his head and said. "I'm looking for mission that had to do with collecting materials for poison or mission regarding places famous for having poisonous plants or creatures. They should not be too far away as I don't care for long term missions." The man blinked understanding that he was looking for missions that might help him train the Edicts of Death more than gaining fame or money.

He started looking through the thick book on his desk and took a moment to identify 4 missions that were close to what Reynolds was looking for and started introducing the missions.

"The first one would be capturing a Purple Death Orchid alive, it is 4-star mission. The second one is collecting 100 poison glands from the Spotted Serpents that live on the Northern Silver Marsh, this is a 2-star mission. The third one is applying an already prepared decay poison to the leader of the Yellow Dragon Clan and record the process with an also provided recording orb. This is a 6-star mission. Finally, an escort mission to protect a Merchant as he delivers his goods to the Silver Fang City by crossing the Northern Silver Marsh, this is a 4-star mission". The green haired man turned to look at Reynolds who was considering the different missions.

'I have studied the decay poisons but I have not seen the effects while applying them to others, perhaps this would help me to gain insights on the technique of flesh erosion from the Edicts of Death'. After organizing his thoughts he smiled calmly and said to the green haired man. "Please show me the information for the third mission". The green haired man trembled after seen such a smile on some who was considering to slowly kill someone with a terrifying poison and hurried to find the respective files.

Reynolds was looking at the file without changing his smile. "The level of the clan leader is a 4-star Fiend but if the mission is rated at the 6-star level... it means that I might be facing Fiends hired as bodyguards... perhaps even a 6-star Fiend, that should be fun." He then turned to look at the green haired man while delivering his Fiend medallion.

"Would you please help me in registering that I took this mission?" The gentle smile seemed diabolical to him but Koral trembled in excitement while blushing at his side making the green haired man think. 'A pair of monsters!'

After receiving the medallion and making the corresponding procedures he returned it to Reynolds and said. "Sir, everything is ready. Here is the poison and this is the recording orb, I wish you good luck!" Reynolds smiled and rested his hand on Koral's waist as they walked out of the office.
